Still waiting for the inquiry but I'd have to say that something must have been said. I haven't heard Terry come out and say he didn't say anything, and Ferdinand has said he'll leave it to the inquiry. Sounds like Terry said something in the heat of the moment that will come back to bite him.

From what I gathered from JT's statement, it was a big misunderstanding where Ferdinand thought he heard JT saying something and confronted him, and JT in response said "i didn't call you a n***a" but that's just his side of the story.
Funny comment I read on another football website; if Ireland, Greece, Portugal, and Italy were to be drawn together at Euro 2012, it would be dubbed "The Group of Debt". :o).

Impossible since none of this teams will be seeded in pot 1.

as much as i don't like his name, mario goetze (i know it's spelt gotze with an umlaut o) is an awesome player, and i hope he comes to arsenal one day.
this game is so pointless, I don't know why I'm watching it given that the combination of tyldesley and the fucking band is giving me aids in stereo. at least we're keeping messi quiet

Messi? Doesn't play for Spain haha (unless that was the point of the joke). Anyways friendlies are often played to fill the coffers of the respective national FAs who need that money for whatever purpose.
The game itself is exactly what you would expect - Spain have been controlling possession and the tempo of the game at the moment.
Going 1-0 ahead against Spain while keeping their forwards quiet (and Messi, apparently...) is a decent performance so far. And bugger me Ramos is lucky to stay on the pitch there. It's nice to see comfirmation of something a lot of fans have known for a long time - we've been carrying too much dead weight in the Old Guard, the young blood is hungrier and has a lot more fight and pride.

Probably ment Silva. Similar player, not quite as prolific as a goalscorer though.
Nicely done. Stifled the world champions and Hart had one save to make, in the 89th minute. Took our chance, defended resolutely and a solid game all round. Every game I see Parker in makes me depressed to remember all those years we tried to force Gerrard and Lampard into the same side.

I love the commentary on guardian.co.uk: "Honk honk! What's that coming over the horizon this way? It's HMS Hubris!" Well done England
Our media is going to have a field day tomorrow. No doubt England is now the greatest team in the world, next World Champions, untouchable etc. Cue the press.
Also that was the most boring, uninspiring football match I've watched in years.
I agree it wasn't the most entertaining game of football ever, but how the hell else are you supposed to beat spain? even with an extra man we aren't going to match them in midfield. We played the only was we were going to get a result, altho we were lucky to have won by the end of the game.

Absolutely agreed. You just can't play against the best team in the world going all out attack. We played the game we needed to in order to grab a win. We performed as a unit and grabbed a good result against a better team, and managed to limit a fantastic forward lineup to a single shot on target. Seems like a result to me.

Actually the reaction has been pretty reserved from the English press (even from the normal sensationalist sources). I think everyone recognized that Spain didn't play so well yesterday and England had huge difficulty holding onto the ball for long periods of time.
The Spanish press, however, have gone off a bit about how England's victory was a complete injustice (http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/blog/2011/nov/13/england-spain). Which seems to be an overreaction given that defensive play seems to be the only true way to stop Spain in competitive matches.
