How dare you. Romance isn't a silly adventure, Squall gained a heart man- a heart and if that ain't beautiful then I don't know what is. LOVE CONCURS ALL. Besides the story line, the Junction system was genius, you could have low level characters that hit hard because of the magic you junction (to your stats and atk/def). Also, all the monsters and bosses (bosses range from like 1-40 i think) you encountered where within your level; the game made sure that you didn't have to grind if you didn't want to. To me it was a well thought out system- well it might be that way because I just like to beat the crap of out bosses with physical attacks. :3 (Replayed FFVIII recently- like a week ago) But yeah, best FF in my books (then FFX lol) EDIT²: Oh god FFXII sucked donkey, I never finished it cause I just couldn't force myself to play it. EDIT³: Oh man, I've been reading up on the theories surrounding FFVIII and it is serious- also read somewhere that the writer for VIII did the story for X- which could explain this deepness that I am reading about.

Squall was whining the entire way, I didn't like the combat system, where using magic physically affected your stats if you didn't know how junctioning worked, and I completely did not understand the story at all. Maybe I just need to replay it to figure out what the hell Ultimecia's role is in the whole thing. Regarding VIII: Ulitmecia's role is not 100% clear, but she is believed to be rinoa's future self. Remember: Ultimecia is a sorceress from the future. Sorceresses pass their powers to their successors and at the end of the game rinoa is the only sorceress left. This means that ultimecia is either rinoa herself or a link in the chain of her successors. The ending movie (and some other clues) though suggests that ultimecia is rinoa, by flashing in pictures of the two in an alternating fashion. It's been a long time that I've played through it so i dont remember exactly. There is tons of interpretations on FF VIII because of the wierd ending cinematic and the not so clear story. Square has never released an "official" interpretation. There is also another theory that squall died at the end of CD1 (after the fight with Edea) and everything after is a dream that gets wierder and wierder. That's why I love VIII: The story is completely open and not some cookie cutter happy ending like in other FFs.

I mean I really didnt even like 8 or 9, but at least they were playable, unlike XIII which is one of the few FFs, if any, that I've never finished. At this point, I think square has the burden of proof to show me that their next game is really superb or else im just not going to buy games from this series anymore as they just tend to disappoint me very much.

Here's all the FF that I played in order X-2 - loved it so much, first time seeing CGI and the graphics were amazing, also beaten twice X - loved the story so much and have beat it twice XIII - I have been waiting since X for another Final Fantasy and here it is. XIII was great and interesting story, amazing graphics. XII - I was told that this is a crappy game so I stayed away from it for many years but got it for $10 and Im 26 hours in and I think Im just over half way done. Great game, with a good story and so much to explore. So glad about XIII-2 its going to be great!

I thought the junction system was kind of broken. But i never got that far... It was pretty early in the game when I figured out taht u get curaga or something from converting tents. I got massive HP(?) and it was way too easy after that so i quit. But then again, who plays FF for the challange :0 exept FFT. That Lion zodiac boss.... omg i never died so much before.

I grew up with FF8, my friends at the time grew up with FF7 which led to the most nonsensical child debates lol FF8 IS BETTER RINOA HAS A DOG NO FF7 IS BETTER CLOUD HAS SPIKY HAIR lolwut In retrospect though FF9 is probably my favourite one. By far. Damn that was a sick game, it's like exactly what you want from that fantasy type genre, futuristic stuff is cool but this game is like the essence of what Final Fantasy is and was always meant to be. Edit: Okay well except for the fact that FF9 is almost as linear as FF13. But as I said, I grew up with FF8 so I didn't really have a problem with the linear storytelling. What really bugged me about FF9 was that in the end game half the world becomes inaccessible because of the mist which is just stupid. Steiner's Shock made everything trivial as well lol, I killed Ozma without doing the critter thing.

If more of FF13 would have been more like Gran Pulse the came would have been so much more fun. I enjoyed it, but I had no urge to go back and play it again which is disappointing to me. My favorite is FF6... I could play that game over and over again. The only one I've never been able to beat is FF12. For some reason the story and the characters never really clicked with me. Vaan was such a horrible protagonist.

I am curious about XIII-2 now though, so I will probably attempt another playthrough sometime in the future. My favorites would have to be Tactics and VII though.

I have to say,the games I love the most are from VII,VIII and X. FFVII was one of the first games I ever played,it had beatiful graphics for its time,an epic story and I had more than 100 hours in-game before I finished it (I was like 10-12) FFVIII was super good, but super weird. I really did NOT understand the ending,I've been puzzled since. It was also the actually hardest game to finish for me, I got stuck in so many battles and the puzzle in Ultimecia's Castle was just... FFX was revolutionary, the only thing I didn't like about it was Tidus. OMG Tidus was stupid as hell. It is however the best game in terms of mini-games (at a point I had stopped the plot and was only playing blitzball for like a month IRL) and storyline + Auron is propably the most bad ass character of all video games ever(and my favorite character in a FF game). That doesn't mean I did not enjoy IX,XII,X-2 and XIII, I played through them pleasantly, but they're not in the same level as the others due to some flaws. IX was a bit too childish for me, XII was ridiculously easy and Vaan was another Tidus, and XIII was too linear, although I DO love Lightning. X-2 was just dissapointing,it was like someone had taken X and stripped all the good things from it

Lvl up you char, play against others player, make a unique team for yourself, etc... I've beaten FF Tactics too many times to count! Definitely one of my favorite games from childhood. I didn't think FF13 was that bad to be honest. It wasn't great compared to earlier FF7-10, but it was a pretty good effort. All the FF MMOs (11 and 14) have been complete garbage. I played FF11 for about a year, then WoW came out and showed how boring and lame FF11 was. FF14 was supposed to be an improved FF11 so I got excited for it. Until everyone realized they pretty much just ported FF11 onto a new graphics system and left the crappy combat mechanics in place. I think most everyone abandoned ship after the PC release was so horrid. Come to think of it, was it ever released on consoles like it was supposed to or did it just die off ?

Didn't get far in it as I only rented it out, but my sister became fanatical about final fantasy and we both played ff7, 8, 9 and 10. I never had the patience to complete any of them though. Recently I borrowed FF13 from a friend, I immediately knew it would be very different from the original FFs, so I basically treat it as a separate game from the originals. SO for what it is I loved it, it is almost like watching a movie because the video scenes are so often and have amazing graphics. It is a laid game to just chill out and play, not the hardest game ever but very addictive. The combat system is challenging at least in boss fights. It has a fairly indepth equipment upgrade system and several side quests that you can do at will, but are not necessarily to complete the storyline Was the first FF i completed. I didn't fully understand the ending as it is very abstract and kinda weird. The storyline in general is ok, there are a lot of cheesy parts in it but I forgive it because it's a japanese made game.

FFVIII: Because I thought Leon (Squall) was cool, and a friend of mine kept talking about the game, I decided to go out and buy it. I was actually expecting something like KH play, but I was introduced instead to something completely different. I had never before played a traditional turn based RPG before so this was my first taste of it. Maybe I'm biased because it was my first final fantasy, but FFVIII is still my favorite. Absolutely loved the the setting coupled with the characters. Everything had a really cool vibe to it. Running through Dollet on that first mission felt so epic. Yeah the junction system is easy to abuse, but on my first playthrough, I didn't pay attention to it. Also have to say that the card game was really fun, and I loved being able to manipulate it once I learned how to. And of course, who doesn't love Gilgamesh? FFVII: Magnificent game. While the lego graphics weren't that great, everything else was phenomenal. Again the atmosphere of the game really drew me in and the storyline was very dark and captivating. Materia system was pretty unique. Some ridiculous combos could be made which were especially useful against Ruby and Emerald Weapon, which were 2 of the most memorable optional bosses for me. Maybe it was because you can just run into them on accident lol. FFX: Not sure if I played this one next, but whatever. FFX had to be the game in which I logged the most hours on. Tidus was terrible, worst FF character in existence. But this game had so much optional material in it. The sidequests were huge and required a lot of patience, I remember, but I did it all. Later on went to do no sphere challenge variations so yeah, I knew the game well. Other than that, loved the graphics at the time and story was pretty cool. It's very much worth noting the depth of the background story included in this game as well, it even had a made up language. I still say they should make a game where you follow Auron, Jecht, and Braska on their pilgrimage. FFI: Going classic here. I originally wanted FFIX next, but they didn't have it at the store, so I bought FF origins for the PS. Had to get used to the 2d graphics at first, but after that, it was amazing. A lot of freedom in this game. No real story, but really the exploration factor of the game was enough for me. Being able to pick classes was new to me as well, and I thought that was pretty fun. I particularly remember one hallway in Terra Cavern (I think) where you'd face golems every one step you advanced. Not sure what they were thinking there, but that was hell, and thus very memorable lol. Overall, one of the most fun FF games to play and it doesn't take very long to beat, at least on the remastered versions. FFII: Oh boy. Pretty much the worst FF game in the series, but only because it was so frustrating to play. The stat leveling system was actually retarded and in many cases had to be abused if you wanted to get anywhere. But it's worth noting that this was the first FF with an actual full length story to it, and it wasn't that bad IIRC. Besides the terrible gameplay, the game did feel like the first FF in terms of world exploration. I remember there being a black mage village and thinking it was pretty awesome. Shame about the shitty system, but other than that, a decent game. FFV: So I decided to try out the other 2d FFs as well, and picked up FF Anthology. FFV was quite the fun game, absolutely loved the class changing system. So many options were available, customization factor was great. The story was alright, Galuf was a badass. Was very cool to see Gilgamesh again as well, since this is where he originated from I guess. Can't remember too much about the game, but I remember it was very enjoyable. FFVI: Another phenomenal game. Out of the main series, I have to say this is probably the most solid game. The gameplay system with the Espers was very basic and worked really well. Characters in this game were awesome, especially Kefka. For a 2d game, the atmosphere was presented surprisingly well too. The storyline was ridiculously good, just as interesting, if not more, than FFVII's. Definitely a must-play if you don't mind 2d graphics. FFIV: Bought this with the FF Chronicles pack. Unfortunately, didn't beat it lol. I got to the part where you're in a strange world with dwarves and stuff. I did like the game very much, not entirely sure what got me off of playing it. But I did play Chrono Trigger from the package, and that game deserves its own dedicated topic. FFIX: This game was exceptional. I'm not a huge fan of the cartoony style of animation, but after a while, I began to really like it. The characters are presented so well that you just forget about it. Definitely one of the more fun FF games to play, very light-hearted overall, but it still had some surprisingly dark, serious moments. Also worth noting the Gilgamesh cameo was cool and the minigames and side quests were quite fun. Pretty much another high-caliber FF game. FF Tactics: I have to say this was probably the best FF game in the entire franchise. I wasn't quite sure what to expect because of the completely different strategy based system, but I was hooked after a very short while. The game felt so fresh to me, highly customizable. Yeah it may have been a bit broken, but you cannot deny the very impacting storyline. I don't think there was anything I disliked about this game, it had so much to it. It also helped me transition into the Fire Emblem series later on lol. FFX-2: So I wasn't sure what to expect from this game. But since I loved FFX, I simply loved exploring more of its world. FFX had so much backstory to it that it was just really cool to engage in more of it through another game. Battle system in this game was quite good too, probably the most fun out of all the FF games I've played. Everything else was kind of meh, but it was pretty much what I was expecting. The game is for only die-hard FF fans anyway. FFXII: Didn't finish it. I don't know what happened. Game was so hyped, it felt like it was gonna be really great. Not entirely sure why I stopped playing it, to be honest. Especially knowing that it was in the same world as that of Tactics. Might return to it one day, who knows, maybe the same for FFIV lol. Apparently it wasn't very well received though by the community, so I can't say that helps too much either. FFIII: I think I played this game after my FF craze, now on the DS. I did finish it but I don't remember anything too memorable. Class system was nice I guess. Might have been a pretty generic game overall because I can't remember it too much. And that about does it. I did play FF tactics advanced but I never finished it. I'm sure it's a good game though. I might go back and replay some of these games when I have time, maybe even FFIV because I know it deserves it. And FFXIII looked really nice and I would have probably played it if I owned any of the consoles for it lol. Damn this was long.
