All the old rpgs ported to iphone work completely fine offline, I literally played through all of FF-I and Crono Trigger with phone on airplane mode while outside of service areas killing time on fishing boats. Can't see why android versions would be any different.

Overall, I just wanted to say as someone who played all FF except 2 and 3, I truly love FFXIII. It is probably my favorite along with FFXI (and special mention goes to FFXII and FFX-2). I'll just post some brief positives about the game. First of all, I can definitely understand why people dislike the game. The game is really linear, the game has almost no customization until near the end of the game (and even then, there is barely much - I do like the attempt at making weapons customizable but most of the abilities and stats are boring and you just mainly pay attention to how high the attack is), you control only one character at a time (and for the majority of the game, you only had two characters with you and with only a limited set of paradigm roles), some of the regular monster battles are really tediuous and take too long, some of the bosses are too easy and are actually easier than some regular enemies, and the summons are impractical to use and are barely viable at all (there are a few tricks you can do with summons but besides that, they just offer a few free attacks and that is it basically). Though I didn't mind the above too much. Also when the gameplay rocked, it really rocked (there were only a few battles which really were fun but when they were fun, they definitely delivered). Yes, FFXIII does have a lot of problems but when the game was fun, it was one of the most fun I had in any game. I was using Vanille against the last boss in Titan's trial (I forgot the name) and before beating the game too (so no higher level of Crystarium). And since Vanille doesn't have Dodge as Sentinel (it makes the fight harder compared to with Lightning), it gets really hectic. (Also I liked using Lightning on that fight too.) I had one of the most fun in any game doing that fight. Having to juggle between six paradigm sets and then switching at the right time, making sure everyone have buffs up, making sure all debuffs are on, then switching to Sentinel (and keep the party heal) at the right time, etc. Then switching back to damage as much as possible before the doom counter. So much fun in that game. That fight made the gameplay worth it. (I love FFXIII for the story anyway but in terms of gameplay, that fight was really fun.) So the point is, when FFXIII rocked, it really rocked hard and and it is one of my favorites besides maybe FFX-2 and FFXI and FFXII). I am a bit disappointed that FFXIII is mostly the same on the PC (there are Japanese voices now but that's it, it seems). The Last Remnant was changed almost completely from Xbox 360 to PC, so I am sad that they didn't bother trying to do that for FFXIII (at least make it so auto-battle isn't the default). Yes, setting the default to "Ability" instead of "Auto-Battle" doesn't make the gameplay 10x better all of a sudden but it is definitely better than just hitting the auto-battle button once all the time then not doing anything else. Yes, picking "Attack + Attack + Attack" isn't that difficult but it at least feels a bit more immersive than clicking Auto-Battle once and calling it a day. There are so many problems with FF13 though. The core of the game is fine though, they could have made some tweaks. Again, "The Last Remnant" (Xbox 360 to PC) got a huge overhault when it went to the PC. Or FF12 International Zodiac system. A few points: 1. The difficulty has poor scaling. Also there's no reason at all to limit the paradigm roles so much early in the game. Finally, they don't need towns or anything to add customization. 2. FFX-2's gameplay is great. FFX-2 is like what FFXIII should have been more like. In FFXIII, you switched classes because you had to (like you need to heal? Switch to paradigm roles involved healing). In FFX-2, you could ignore class switching altogether "but" you were encouraged to do it (not forced to), and there was so much depth to that system (the garmet grid and everything - Like if you change to a certain class on a certain garmet grid in a certain order, you could unlock this ability and use it, "regardless of any class", in the current battle... also if you went through all the classes on an equipped garmet grid, you can use your special dressphere anytime). + Show Spoiler + FFX-2 is actually one of the most fun active/turn based RPGs I have played and the optional boss fights are really fun too. Also, it is really fast past. If you set the battle speed to the fastest, the dress sphere animations to skip, and set it to "Active" instead of "Wait", it is one of the most fun gameplay experiences I ever had in FFX-2. It's really fast paced and I remember getting owned a lot in the optional dungeons in that game (like having to cycle through Gun Mage (Blue Mage in that game) to get Mighty Guard up, then switch to Alchemist when I need to reive people, then also control the other two characters at the same time too). It was fast paced and you had to think fast on what you wanted to do (the bosses were tricky and later on, even the regular battles were owning me). Of course I could have just leveled up some more but I already unlocked almost every garmet grid and every ability on every class, so I figured I was well above the level (I was around level 50-60s for that optional dungeon). One of FFXIII's biggest problems (from my experience) is definitely the difficulty scaling (tedious regular enemy fights and too easy boss fights). They just need to make the regular enemy fights not as tedious (FFXIII-2 fixed that) and make bosses something you wiped to over and over (until you had to change the difficult to easy) (FFXIII-2 had the easy option you could change to any time without any penalty - Except most of the bosses are easy enough that you don't need to do that). I definitely think need to just make the bosses something you'd wipe to over and over on normal mode (while easy mode if you are stuck). That's why I partly enjoyed The Last Remannt so much (even though in a lot of cases, TLR had way too many RNG elements), it was because bosses were so hard at times that it'd take like 10-15 tries to win. And FFX-2's case, it was done fairly (I liked having to figure out how to win with a huge variety of job setups in FFX-2). What is I liked about FFX-2 was that it wasn't really a "trial and error" difficulty game, you needed to learn the setups and which garmet grid to use, etc (well it was trial and error in that sense but with much more depth than FFXIII). FFXIII's trial and error involved getting almost instant KO from some attack, until you learn you just need to switch to "Sentinel" to survive, and that was basically it. FFX-2 did the difficulty balancing a lot better (I am talking mostly about the optional fights in FFX-2 though but even the optional stuff in FFXIII wasn't as well done as FFX-2). So, that's one of the biggest disappointments (in my experience) with the battle system. The difficulty scaling isn't as well done as FFX-2 (for example) and the trial and error in FFXIII isn't really that deep (if you get one hit KO by something, switch to Sentinel, and that was almost it for the most part). Anyway, as for FFXIII's story, I truly loved it so much. I especially loved Final Fantasy XIII-2 (it was a sweet and sad story). Yes, there was time travel but it's mostly a story about Pulse now instead of Cocoon (which is why the huge shift in style - FF13-1 was about fal'Cie, l'CIe while but mostly it was about Cocoon's problems while FFXIII-2 was about the history of Pulse and Pulsian problems). Yeul, Noel, Caius are from Pulse and there story is really sweet. Of course, people may not feel the same way and that is fine but I just thought it was really nice. I liked how SE just went for just a sweet story in FFXIII-2. Again, while you may not feel the same way, that was definitely what was going for (listen to the theme songs of Yeul, Noel, Caius, and what Caius says, and the ending, etc). They were going for something simple and sweet and I really liked it. I really liked FFXIII and FFXIII-2's stories because it is really different from a lot of the other games. Yes, they aren't unique in terms of stories but I truly love all the characters. Yeul, Noel, Caius, Alyssa, I love all the additions to the cast in FFXIII-2. Some people didn't like it but I really liked the shift + I liked learning more about Pulse (again, FFXIII-2 was mostly about Pulse while FFXIII was about Cocoon, so in the way, the shift in story and characters made sense). FFXIII has a really expansion world and universe. Lightning Returns Final Fantasy XIII and about Caius + Show Spoiler + This was Caius's plan all along! He totally meant to do that, just like the end of FFXIII-2! If it weren't for Caius, they totally wouldn't have been able to save the world. I did kind of dislike how they made Lightning have to save everyone in Lightning Returns but I still liked it overall. And I truly love Vanille. (Lots of text below.) + Show Spoiler + I was always looking for someone to actually make a big deal out of no wanting to hurt or kill others. There are many instances where Vanille shows this to even random enemy soldiers, like in one early scene in the game after the group becomes l'CIe, Vanille is shown doing her wishing pose over a fallen soldier right in front of the camera (I missed this the first time but looking back, it is a lot sweeter). The way she acts - She tries to keep a positive atmosphere. In IRL - Do you want to hang out with someone who acts like a jerk to you anything something bad happens to them or do you want to hang out with someone who goes out of their way to not be a jerk and show you that they want to be with you despite all the bad stuff? That's why I truly love Vanille and I love the story in FF13. Yes, it's not unique but it's a unique presentation (or at least as unique as it can get for most people nowadays as most ideas and stories have been done). Also it's important to note (despite presentation of things), that Vanille did the right choices in the story: 1. Lying to others - Fang couldn't turn into a Cie'th. And as for the others, Vanille doesn't know how to get out of the l'Cie problem (turn into Cie'th or complete focus and turn into crystal). Telling the truth of the situation wouldn't have helped (also if Fang knew their focus, she would have tried to destroy Cocoon, she even said it herself several times - That is what Vanille wanted to prevent). 2. It's important to note that at the time, Vanille did not know there was even a bad guy or a "villain" at all. She is completely new to Cocoon and new to that world. She doesn't know if they are really evil or not. 3. Running away - Vanille doesn't actually start the run away thing until Lightning decides to "go after Eden and take down Cocoon!". Vanille actually went along with the party and even tried to tell Lightning that "Serah said to save Cocoon, it might even be our focus to save Cocoon" before Lightning was like "Nope, I am going to take down Eden, Cocoon, kill a bunch of people". Now, if you were in this situation and there was this person that wanted to basically take down an entire world (mind you, again it is important to note that they didn't know if fal'Cie and/or the Sanctum were actually evil), would you stick with them or just avoid it? Again, with no other known situation (and it was said in the game too, that even the random soldiers were doing their job - The random soldiers protecting Cocoon thought they were the good guys - Said by Lightning herself too), Vanille just wanted to avoid hurting others by running away. Anyway, that was that. Why I love Vanille and why I like those types of stories. Again, I really do appreciate it when they do things like that. It's not just FFXIII, either, I like Metal Gear Solid 3, Portable Ops, Peace Walker, (those three emphasized not killing a lot, etc). It's just something that I always liked when viewing stories and heroes in the stories. Sometimes, the heroes can be jerks and just randomly kill (sometimes brutally) people (despite the situation). So, I appreciate it when they try to deal with that aspect in a story. And in FFXIII-2, the story was sweet. The gameplay and everything was improved greatly and it wasn't as grindy as FFXIII to unlock or do bonus stuff. I can understand the reason people disliked it (barely any of the previous cast except Serah, only Noel and Serah, and the story shifts drastically from the previous games but I actually found that to be a good thing and also it explores more of "Pulse" rather than "Cocoon" which the first game dealt with). So FF, I get my story fix and FF13 delivered for me. And the gameplay was barely bad. It was definitely one of the most fun I had (I say FFX-2 only wins). Overall, I definitely like FFXIII a lot. To be fair, again, I did know (before I played it), the game was really linear, you only had two characters for most of the game, and it was mostly just cutscenes but I do like those types of games (I liked the Xenosaga series for example because it was a lot of cutscenes). The gameplay has so much potential but there are a few things that really ruin it (auto-battle, etc). FFXIII-2 had the right idea but the difficulty was kind of low to make use of the battle system. If they made FFXIII and made all bosses or battles kind of like the final boss in Titan's trial (and using Vanille, which is a lot harder than using other characters since she doesn't have as much defensive stats), then the game would really be fun. Overall, FFXIII and FFXIII-2 are my favorites games. Anyway, I am super excited to play FFXIII again on the PC! I played TLR on the PC and the controls were well done IMO. Hopefully the controls are good in FFXIII too (and hopefully there's lots of config options like in TLR). There is Japanese voices in the PC version now too in case anyone wants to try them. I love all the English VAs in FFXIII though. I might play it a second time in Japanese though but there are a few scenes I checked (with Vanille) in English and Japanese. There is one scene I truly love the voice acting (the Day 1 scene with Vanille and Fang, and Vanille narrating and talking about what happened), and I liked the English version a lot more (of course there are some other scenes where I do like the Japanese a little more but I prefer the English from the few scenes I compared them with). The scene, I could definitely hear and feel the emotion in English but in Japanese, I didn't feel the same way. Also the same with FFXIII-2 too. I watched a lot of FFXIII-2 in Japanese before it came out but I prefer the English a lot more (Yeul, Caius, Noel, and Alyssa, the new additions to the cast - I love their English VAs too).

Well... Apparently my past self decided that I'll backup save files from old games into an external hard drive for save keeping for decades (because that's normal right?) Any way it looks like I took my best/highest save file out of my game entirely and left whatever is left there. So now my second best save and such are there but I don't know where I am at in the game campaign wise. I have Cloud, Red13, and Cid in my party at 71, 71, 70 respectively. I have highwind with no boosters and the save was in the Gonaga Area. I didn't check if anything was changed map wise like if there were Elements and such. I have a few level 4 limit breaks. I don't know what else I should post that'll help me or you guys figure out where or what to do next. Help?
