That's exactly what I did for FFIV! "Oh boy, here's the end..."

"Wha, we're on the moon?"
"Wha, dragons!"
"GG!"

hey you should try FFIV on the PSP if you can. I have both versions and I am fond of the PSP sprite version. They updated everything.

i started with the ff3 aka ff6 on my snes when i was 8 ... good times!

I recently bought ff13 for old times sake and as much as i like the fast paced new ATB system i dont like the whole party splitting and playing as many different characters. I mean the whole point of the old games was to identify with a character and stick with them as they develop.
I do like Lightning (female Cloud anyone?) but everytime i find myself playing with that awkward black guy i want to turn off my playstation.
I am like 8 hours into the game... is it going to get any better, or do i need to quit this and bury FF with the rest of my childhood gaming memories!?

I absolutely loved these games back in the day. First FF i played was FF7, but somehow i was never sucked into the fanboi club. FF7 was really good yea, but I wasnt one of those guys who got teary eyed at:
+ Show Spoiler +
Aeris getting murdered

Maybe it was Tifas massive cleavage that got my dirty teenage mind to focus all attention and affections towards her instead, but either way i didnt really care about that. FF7 was great because the story/twist wasnt cliche yet for me.

Still, I think I liked FF8 better. The Draw and Junction system was annoying due to you having to spend hours drawing magic, and then be forced to weaken yourself if you wanted to use your strongest spells. I think I liked the story better though, but its been so long I kinda forget the details.

FF9 was fun. A lot of people loved the throw back to the old school FFs, but since I started with FF7 I didnt get that part. The story was good enough to keep me interested and the gameplay was fun enough, but it never really wowed me. The battle system was better than FF8s though

FF10 was great. I liked the addition of voices, but Yunas voice really got annoying after a while. Tidus was ok as a main character, could get annoying sometimes. I loved the way the battles worked though. A lot of customization with creating characters and flexibility during the battles themselves.

I played FF6 after FF10 and I really liked it. Story was a bit heavy handed, but I really loved the whole transition from WoB to WoR. I never understood why everyone loved Kefka. As far as I remember, he was just insane. There was no real reason for it, he was just an asshole. I didnt really get why that was so great. The other characters were really lovable though.

FF12, I dont really remember much of the story or the characters backgrounds. It was either because they just werent memorable compared to the rest or I grew out of the FF storylines. The battle system was ok, setting up gambits so you could just run into battle and let things get done for you was kinda satisfying, but a lot of stuff was really time consuming. It was pretty fun, but not the best compared to the others.

Eventually, I replayed a couple and I didnt really get the connection towards the story like I used to, but making the most badass team and rolling through the game was pretty damn fun. In terms of gameplay, which of the FFs do you guys think was the best?

I played the hell out of FFXI the mmo for a long time (2004-2009). Game had the best game soundtrack and unlike wow it was heavily based on communication/teamwork at all points of the game. Party play with 6 or more members was the only way you were going to level up.

It took place on several continents and had insane amounts of rare spawns/drops. Boss fights were challenging and often took us more then 32 people to pull off a world kill. Storyline was great and the game had thousands of quest/missions. Lots of instanced dungeons where you fight one boss with a group for drops.

Crafting system was amazing and the theorycrafting behind it was insane. People were lining there characters up with the stars when crafting to try and get better skill ups.

The game was class based. Ended up with like 16 different classes that all added onto the game. With one character you could level up each job to the max level and then switch your job when you were in town so you never needed to change characters. For each main job you used you could have a sub job to go along with it. The sub job was half the level of your main and gave you traits/spells that the sub job had. So say your a warrior and you take the subjob of a white mage. At level 75 you would have level 37 white mage abilitys.
Some vids I found on youtube.

Looks pretty similar to the DS version, although I'm reluctant to watch the video because of potential spoilers. Either way, I don't own a PSP and student life will prevent me from such luxuries for quite a while

I have found myself recently thinking about back in the days of playing Final Fantasy VII and X on my PS2.

However, I have come to realize (with some help from a buddy), that it IS in fact the older ones that were the better ones. Sure, the new ones have awesome cutscenes, and in X's case, a soundtrack that sticks in my mind to this day, but it was the first four that defined the games!

I plan on getting the re-made Final Fantasies for the DS as soon as I get around to not being a broke sack of crap ... Either way, I wanna play these games, as Pokemon White got a bit boring since no one wants to play with me (and everyone online seems to EV/IV train their teams... and since I have a girlfriend who likes to touch me, I don't have the time )

I've finished a lot of the old ass games, including:
Nes: 1,2,3 (all three on a hard console)
Snes/super famicom: 4,5,6 (5 done on emulator)
Ps1:7,8, and remakes

Recent ones are lacking :/
Psp:crisis core and a lotta remakes
Ds: ff3
Xbox 360:13
I've also completed most remakes of 1, 2, 4, and 6. My favorite game would be 4, given that it was my 2nd snes game (1st being Kirby superstar).

That being said, I don't like the way the series is headed now 13 was too linear for me, even though the farming turtles aspect didn't annoy me too much (once you earn the pink tail in ff4 snes, everything else seems easy).

I am looking forward to the FF game to be released for the 3ds

I love FF series. I finished FF IV,V,XIII,IX,X,X-2.XIII.

XIII was disappointing. Graphics are great but game is way too linear and story seems bit confusing.

FF X was pretty awesome, even it was linear like almost all other ff games but i still loved that game.

And finally. FF IX. is my all time favorite. I been spending so much time playing that game. Great story. Awesome characters, this game never get's old

:D I hope you help me later on with FF IX. I cant beat Gizamaluke T_T

Did you actually get a pink tail? That's like, one of the hardest items ever to acquire Oo

I wonder about one thing ,how many of you had the determination and will to grind the game long enough to be able to kill Penance in FF 10?

That being said, how many of you had the determination to get King of the jump rope in FF9?

You should play FFXII. The bosses in the monster hunting side-quest get pretty intense. Me and a friend fought one for 8 straight hours once. (Thought of it as the Neslug of FFXII)

The problem that i had with a boss like Yiazmat was that at that point i the game i could just set up a macro that would make me literally unkillable,so i would put down my game pad go make a sandwich and the computer would just play instead of me without a problem. The mechanic was nice but in the later stages if the game if your lvld too much it kinda detracts from the gameplay.

FFXIII was an amazing game in terms of everything but the actual storyline and everything associated with it ie. characters. The gameplay and combat was pretty neat imo. I still gotta complete all the hunts :O
