Kobe only had an "excellent team" till that playoffs vs the detroit pistons. I think ur thinking about when the lakers used to have Kobe/Shaq/Karl Malone/Gary Paton <---- All NBA hall of famers or soon to be NBA hall of famers. Once the Shaq-Kobe feud began the laker's roster SUCKED. It's just like earlier, whoever said dwight howard was doing all the work while his teammates shot only 10% from the field. Replace dwight with kobe and that pretty much describes the situation of the lakers once shaq left.
Not only did Shaq left but also karl malone, payton but most importantly Phil Jackson....they only had derek fisher(respectable)....a very passive lamar odum...and luke walton(lmao)..and chuckie atkins and some random coach and the rest sucked.
Back then they were aruging the SAME things u two were arguing(wade vs ginoblio) except they were comparing shaq and kobe about how it's so easy to find another kobe bryant but very hard to find another "300 pound dominant center like shaq" or something like that and that it was dumb of the lakers to sign off shaq. But in the end Kobe proved that he could do it without shaq(when everyone else doubted him)and is without a doubt in my mind the greatest player in the game right now
The lakers were stripped once shaq left and it was a looong work in progress of Kobe not being a ball hog(81 points vs toronoto raptors)and being a team player, getting phil jackson back, aquiring a new center to take shaq's place(gasol)and for odum to stop being so dam passive to become the team that lakers is today. So please don't say Kobe had an excellent team backing him..the lakers freaking sucked for 2 years after shaq left..

After the Orlando/Hawks series, I have to say for an MVP candidate, why do we ask ourselves shouldn't Dwight be better? I mean if they're going to guard the most dominant center in the game one on one with centers you've never heard of, he should be almost single-handedly winning the games.

So who had the worse cast: LeBron's Cavs (last year) of Dwight's Magic (this year)?
|
Dwights Magic, simply because the Cavs had more than 3 months to mesh together, and didnt trade away a couple of huge asset for their team in a high risk move, Rashard for Gilbert, and Gortat (essentially) for J-Rich.
When you subtract a 7 footer, and a stretch 4, and add in a combo PG, and a SG in a PG body, you're giving up way to much size, for almost nothing in return.
Not to mention J-Rich was impossible to see out there during this playoffs.

I think Dwight did as much as anyone can. He scored on about 60% of his FGA, which is about the best you're going to get with some one guarding you in the post, as long as that someone has comprable height and wing span. I can understand the sentiment that Dwight should had more possessions but I don't think there is much more that Dwight Howard can do.
Even the great centers of the past: Hakeem, Shaq...uhhh...Ewing...uhhh Robinson? Couldn't dominate a game all on their lonesome; their teammates were much better than Dwight's. I would say even Kareem had Oscar Robertson. Russell had Bob Cousy. Wilt had Jerry West. Dwight Howard's running mate would be?

It's hilarious watching Jeff Teague outplaying Rose a day after Rose wins the MVP.

Are we watching the same game?

Dude, he's 8 for 23 with 8 turnovers, this is not an example of Derrick Rose: MVP. Although, this happens more than most people think.
|
At least it's not game 7 and at least he's not going 6 for 24.
|
is it just me or is CP3 better than Rose at everything.
|
CP3 might be, but his attitude sucks. I don't know any other player with that captain C on their shirt in the NBA. There aren't that many hornets games on national TV, so I hadn't seen much since the last series. He's magical. Outlived even the tall tales I'd heard. But he looks like a little douchebag.

I agree, you'll find no bigger Chris Paul fan than me. But he is kinda tough to look at on the court. He sneers, growls, bitches, flops, yells at his teammates etc. Still, he is the best point guard in the game and a top 5 overall player. I wonder if that's just a A-type personality thing, Kobe has it and so did CP3's prototype: Isaiah Thomas; it doesn't hurt his game in any perceivable way and his teammates seem to love him more than fear him.

25 points on 27 shots. We've officially hit rock bottom.

Nah, Derrick Rose's Basketball Reference game log. He must have two dozen games where his point total is lower than his FGAs. He has a long way to go before he becomes a truly efficient player.
EDIT: I was exaggerating, but you guys should be able to see what I mean.
