Rookie season: 38-44. Swept by the Bucks, first round. Second season: 30-52. They say the east is bad now, how does a 30 win team deserve to make the playoffs? The bobcats are better than this. Anyway, swept 1st round by the Celtics. Third season: 40-42. Playoffs, swept by celtics in the first round. Lebroom? How about Broom Jordan, because he's good at getting swept.
4th season: 50-32. Pretty sure Lebron had 60+ win seasons by that time and had reached the finals. Michael Jordan? Now that he got help, he managed ... to lose in the second round. In 5 games, to the Pistons. 5th season: Ok, the Bulls managed not to get swept. Let's see how the most competitive man alive, who fights to win every single game responds. 47-35. That's like the Hawks. Manages to lose in the EC finals to the Pistons. Again. Who's your daddy? 6th season: They have now Hall of Fame coach Phil Jackson. They have their core. Should be much better than Mike Brown and Lebron in their heyday. Finals here we come, right? Nope, 55-37. Good, but obviously not championship caliber. Which is why they got denied, again, by the Pistons.
Stop right there. We can see how this is going to end. Jordan has loser in his DNA. He can't win regular season games like the great players did, never even made the finals, which Lebron did. Swept, swept, what a choker. Most overrated player ever. On the one hand, this absolutely has to be a troll post. On the other hand, LeBron fanboys tend to be ignorant about the history of basketball, so here goes:
Rookie season: Jordan's Bulls finish 38-44 and lose 3-1 (not swept) to the 59-win Bucks. LeBron's Cavs finish 35-47 and miss the playoffs. (Jordan 1 : LeBron 0)
Second season: Jordan misses 64 games of the regular season with a broken foot and the 30-52 Bulls are swept by the 67-15 Celtics in the first round, arguably the best team in the history of NBA; Jordan still puts up a playoffs-record 63 points in one game and averages 43.7--6.3--5.7 on 50.5% shooting for the series. LeBron misses the playoffs, again. (Jordan 2 : LeBron 0)
Third season: Jordan's Bulls finish 40-42 and are swept 3-0 in the first round by the defending champion Celtics (you know, the Celtics that had Larry Bird, Kevin McHale, Robert Parish, and half of Bill Walton coming off the bench?). LeBron's Cavs finally get a real coach and finish with 50 wins (in a diluted-as-hell conference, but whatever) and lose in the second round to the #1-overall Pistons. Playoff numbers: Jordan 36-7-6 (42% shooting), LeBron 31-8-6 (48% shooting). This season is basically a wash.
Fourth season: Jordan wins MVP and DPOY in the same season, the only player to do so. LeBron gets swept in the finals by the Spurs. (Jordan 3 : LeBron 0)
Fifth season: Jordan's Bulls (Pippen's and Grant's sophomore seasons) finish 47-35 and lose the ECF to the soon-to-be champions Pistons, who are allowed to physically abuse Jordan in ways that are completely unheard-of in the modern NBA. LeBron's Cavs finish 45-37 and lose in the second round to the soon-to-be champions Celtics. This season is basically a wash... until you look at their numbers. Jordan: 33-8-8, 3 steals, 54% shooting (season) + 35-7-7.6, 3 steals, 51% shooting (playoffs) vs LeBron 30-8-7, 48% shooting (season) + 28-8-7.6, 41% shooting (playoffs). Are you kidding me? (Jordan 4 : LeBron 0)
Sixth season: Jordan finally has a real coach and the Bulls finish 55-27, Jordan gets robbed of the MVP award (seriously, how can you go 34-7-6 on 53% shooting with 3 steals, obviously be the most important player on your team, and not win MVP?) and loses the ECF to the defending champion Pistons (who go on to repeat). LeBron's Cavs finish 66-16 (impressive, but less impressive if you dig a little deeper), LeBron wins his first MVP, and then loses the ECF to Dwight Howard's Magic. Calling this one a tie even though Jordan's numbers blow LeBron's out of the water.
Seventh season: Bulls win the title, Jordan wins MVP and Finals MVP. LeBron wins MVP then falls asleep in the ECF and leaves the Cavs in the worst way possible. (Jordan 5 : LeBron 0)
Eighth season: Bulls repeat champions, Jordan repeat MVP and Finals MVP. LeBron doesn't win MVP but puts up MVP-like numbers, then falls asleep in the Finals. If the Heat end up winning the series, Wade will win Finals MVP, and LeBron will still be one ring and a major attitude adjustment behind MJ. (Jordan 6 : LeBron 0)
Anddd Jordan sweeps the series against LeBroom. Whoops.

I think it's pretty obvious that igotmyown's post was intended to show how ridiculous it is to judge how great Lebron's career is going to be by how he's performed thus far by pointing to Jordan's beginnings.

Forgot, Jordan hit the shot on an NCAA level > winning in NBA :D.
Only a few chances in ones life to win in NCAA.
|
I'm begging and hoping Mavs can win tonight. That would be so important. The Heat winning the Title would be a shame for the NBA.
|
apparently everyones making offers for ellis now. i recently heard that lakers are offering lamar odom for him. personally, i dont think i would trade monta ellis for anything short of an amazing center or an amazing non-center + they have to take biedrins' contract.

Jordan was a better player at this point in his career, it's true, but I don't know that I'd go so far as to say he outshined Lebron in every conceivable way. There are a lot of factors to consider, i.e. quality of teammates, quality of coaching, their relative ages (Jordan played college ball), strength of opponents (which favors Jordan IMO as the EC was terrible during Lebron's time up until recently), statistical production vs. success in the postseason, etc.
My opinion happens to coincide with yours regarding the Jordan-Lebron early career comparisons, but I don't think it's as clearcut as you're making it out to be, particularly with your stated analyses for each of those seasons.

You guys understand that the term trolling implies a desire to hide one's motivation to fool people for the poster's amusement, when that's clearly not what I intended to do? Use the correct term, Reductio Ad Absurdum, or if you're lazy, it's a satirical argument.
People are applying Jordan's winning legacy to Lebron when Jordan himself hadn't fulfilling been fulfilling that criteria. When Lebron's 31-32, it would be a fair argument, but not when he's 25-26. And it looks very likely that the Heat are going to win a few championships before then. It's pointless to compare them at this point except specifically on pure basketball skill, and even that's hard to do because they have different skillsets.

LeBron has to win at least 6 championships to even be on Jordan's level.
Considering the superpowers Spurs / Lakers / Boston / Dallas will be non factors in 2-3 years, there's no excuse.

Maybe the Heat will win many championships, but judging from this years finals Wade will be "Jordan" and Lebron maybe Pippen.

Are you stupid? Do you think the teams will just wait until all their current stars retire? DAL, LAL and BOS will always be contenders and make trades to be that.

Duncan is irreplaceable. Kobe is irreplaceable Paul Pierce / KG / Ray Allen is irreplaceable. Dirk is irreplaceable.
OKC / Chicago / Orlando will be the new superpowers, but they are still miles behind Miami.

I don't even need to compare winning legacy to see immediately that lebron will never ever compare to michael jordan. The fact that he can't put up Jordan's numbers in today's NBA (No hand checking, no impeding progress, centers can't camp the paint forever anymore) is all the evidence I need.
Some quotes: "The college game is much more physical than our game. I always tease Michael [Jordan], if he played today, he'd average 50." -Larry Brown
During a 2007 L.A. Lakers pre-season broadcast, Phil Jackson was asked how he thought Michael Jordan would perform today, Phil said: "Michael would average 45 with these rules." source
Joe Dumars: Michael Jordan Unguardable with Current NBA Rules. Relevant Link
Even Joe Johnson today says that the players of the 80s/90s would be much better under today's rules.
I agree though, its unfair to compare LeBron and Jordan... Unfair for Jordan that is. LeBron has it easier and still puts up inferior numbers.

As much of a Miami fan I am, Wade can't even touch Jordan.
Wade won't repeatedly drop 30+ points in Jordan's hand check era.
Jordan would average 35+ points a game in today's league.
