Duncan is irreplaceable. Kobe is irreplaceable Paul Pierce / KG / Ray Allen is irreplaceable. Dirk is irreplaceable.
There are always new superstars!
Jordan would average 35+ points a game in today's league.

I think his point was, on this Heat team, Wade has taken on the "Jordan" role and James has taken on the "Pippen" role, both in terms of leadership and general contributions.
@Cyric obviously my analysis was very brief and didn't go into a lot of the deeper factors; I was just blowing through each player's respective rookie, sophomore, etc. season and showing that, in context, you still can't say LeBron is even close to Jordan's level.
@LeBroom well I think Kobe and Duncan, both being top 10 all-time players, are fairly irreplaceable. Allen/KG/Pierce and Nowitzki, however, as good as they are they're not skill/talent outliers so it wouldn't surprise me if comparably talented and skilled players came along to fill their shoes.

And SA will keep outsmarting them in the draft

And you think you're going to get the #1 draft pick to pick up said stars?
And do you think Orlando / Chicago / OKC would ever give up their superstars in a trade? No way.

PFFTT
This is sort of unrelated to the conversation going on right now, but I just had to post this.
LOL
Could voodoo magic be the cause of Dirk's high fever (not that it helped miami win that game, in any event lol)?! And could LBJ's terrible play be caused by Cleveland fans breaking out the LBJ dolls?! Questions, questions... hahahaha

Enjoy this year's Finals my friends because it's looking more and more like we're going to have a lockout next season. We all know that lockout championships don't really count (I'm looking at you Spurs), so that means another 2 years until a real Finals.
GO MAVS GO!

So the Mavericks kept themselves out of a hole by going 2-2. However, the Heat still have home court advantage, and the two games in Dallas so far (or the last 3 games) have gone down to the wire.
The heat still are probably favored to win this series, but anybody who's been predicting individual game results and rationalizing each win is full of crap.
Some big factors: Is Haywood going to be back? Is Miami going to have Lebron handle the ball instead of Wade in the 4th? Can Miami solve the Mavericks cutting off the penetrations like they did in the 4th? Can the Mavericks get better defense off turnovers/how many turnovers will Miami force?
Can the Mavs get any points off turnovers aside from their half court offense? Do the Mavericks have a plan for Bosh or are they just assuming that they can win no matter what he does? Will either team start using hard screens as a staple play as opposed to plays off timeouts in the 4th quarter? And of course how physical will the refs let them play?
|
I think if Dallas just plays like they did in the 4th quarter last game with those great defense rotations, it will keep Miami at bay and if they hit open shots they will win by 10 or more.
All of these games have been really really close but as a Mavs fan, I will say they are under performing despite being set up really well, and some of it isn't because of the Miami defense.

Jordan averaged over 35 PPG in some seasons in the old rules, it is fairly obvious that he would do the same in today's league.

If I were the Lakers, I wouldn't trade Odom for Ellis. That's such a bad fit for the Lakers.

Honestly I'm not a fan of Ellis or Odom, but they are about equal worth to most teams. Why anyone thinks they are going to get a lot for ellis I can not understand. A player like odom/boozer is basically all you could expect IMO.

regarding lebron vs jordan - i dont think rings have anything to do with a player's skill really. you cant say A has 1 ring and B has 6 rings therefore B is 5 rings better than A.
players without a ring chris webber, reggie miller, dominique wilkins, patrick ewing, john stockton, charles barkley, karl malone, elgin baylor
regarding monta ellis, i feel like fans vastly underestimate him.

This is the first introduction I've seen. Detroit Basketball was by far the best.

regarding monta ellis, i feel like fans vastly underestimate him. obviously championships are not a sole measurement of comparison lol. but if you are comparing two players with similar skillsets and career statistics, then yes, rings will be important in determining who takes a higher spot on the all-time great list.
i don't think ellis is underrated at all. a volume shooter, good scorer, capable player, not good enough to lead a franchise. that's what he is. people shit on him because he think he is way better than the reality. he once claimed, in all seriousness, that he was a top 3 player in the nba along with kobe and lebron. he's not anywhere near.

I have a good feeling about this game (Mavs-supporter, obviously with my country-tag^^). Please don't crush my hopes Dallas, you cannot lose today. Beginning is nice, LeBron already with some bad plays

Every time Brian Cardinal makes a statistical play (takes a shot, fouls someone, draws a charge, rebounds, gets a steal, etc.), take a shot.
