FFS DRIVE IT IN!!
For someone that watches basketball you amaze me sometimes.
Tyson Chandler has been killing the lane for an entire playoffs. They cant just WALTZ into the lane. Please stop being ignorant.

Simmons arguing on twitter that Wade holding his pose in front of the Dallas bench after that three with 7:14 left (88-73) was the thing that woke the Mavs up, 20-2 run after that. Kinda hard point to debate, the Mavs did come alive, but as has been said repeatedly the Heat's shot selection was laughable.

Simmons says a lot of things. I'll leave it at that.

They didn't drive because they were cocky and stopped playing. It's as simple as that.

I thought they didn't drive because they (Lebron and Wade) were playing hero basketball.

So explain why they couldn't get in the lane for most of Game 1 and the large portions of this game.

FFS DRIVE IT IN!! Jump shots have been their offensive philosophy this whole series. People only started questioning it when it stopped working.
Great game, look forward to the rest of the series. I've detached myself from this thread mostly due to my inability to deal with the overbearing stupidity of Heat fans.

Of course, and he attributes meaning to the meaningless constantly; it was a transformative moment however.

DWade made all but 4 of his shots from within the paint. You really are going to argue that the best way to close out the game was for him and LeBron to take bad perimeter shots and not try to drive in and create a score? Those are 2 of the best ball on court play makers in the entire NBA.
|
No I'm not arguing that and never would. What I am arguing is that every game a team with perimeter slashers loses it's "why didn't they just drive in the paint?!"
Well the answer is it's not that easy. These guys have been playing basketball all their lives and know going to the rack is the best way to score.
The problem is so does the other team. Easier said than done and people should stop complaining when their favorite player can't do it.

Well, I'm glad the Mavs tied it up. Much better than a lopsided finals.

i dunno, 2006 was pretty exciting. mavs up first 2 games, then losing in 6. maybe i'm just a big sucker for the BW reverse all-kill.

Their jump shot offense was working perfectly fine for them up until those final 7 minutes. I have never seen Lebron shoot so unconsciously. They obviously felt more confident in their ability to take the shot over driving into a 7 footer.

The heat offense looks kind of bad to me. What triggered their lead in this game was a lot of defensive mistakes by the mavs + good defensive moves -> easy transition points for them. Even when they were leading by 15 I was never impressed w/ how they set up their offense, given the weapons they have. In the last 5 minutes I actually half expected the mavs to come back because of I've seen many teams play like the heat are at the moment (including the mavs of old) and consistency is a huge issue playing that way.

My my- Dirk is once clutch son of a gun. Wade almost hero'd it at the end- was going to rage if that happened lol.

Miami's offense is good to great but the issue is consistency. They start 2 ways most of the time:
A.) Play inside out through Chris Bosh
B.) Play drive and kick, or screen for Wade and try to get open 3s
As the game goes on they start playing iso near the paint to try and get an easy bucket, or free ball it. It can work, and actually does work a lot but the problem is when their 3 point shots start missing they don't stop shooting them. Even worse sometimes they go iso heavy on one side of the court but don't get the chance to always swing the ball back to the weak side. End result: The offense looks gummed up and clogged. Blame them for trying to either set too many screens close to each other and/or poor player movement.

I know it's not easy and they can't just WALTZ into the lane but doesn't it seem more logical to try driving? They were still up by a good number when they started attempting those 3pt shots and it seemed kind of desperate to me. Driving it in (even if its difficult) with the possibility of scoring or getting to the line seems like a better choice to me.
But anyways I'm not making excuses. Dallas played phenomenally the last 7 minutes and it made for a great (but heartbreaking) game.

Dallas has been stifling drives without fouling both games. So Miami ends up scoring or losing the ball to the quick hands of Dirk and Kidd who both stripped Lebron, Wade, and Bosh going to the paint a couple of times this series.
The "bad" part is the amount of 3 pointers they took but a lot of it has to do with Dallas defense and Miami's player movement in the 4th quarter. A number of possession had Lebron and Wade either doing handoffs above the 3 point line or near the corner bottled up.
Dallas's defense and rebounding just ended up killing them.
