There is still an active online community for that game so it's totally worth buying and playing for like €8. For the record some SC2 Grandmaster got the game and started playing; he didn't even do that well. Game is deep and the metagame is actually still moving. It is really not that great in comparison to AoE 2 though, in my opinion that is still the king of medieval RTS's. The games play much different than SC2 and definitely worth playing through the entire series, competitively 2 is just the king of all. :D
Only played HR, but apparently Deus Ex 1 is also very good. Great games. Must play!

Aoe3 is a much more different from aoc than sc2 is to bw, to be fair. all 4 games are different either way and all of them are great RTS games in their own right. If you're expecting aoe2 out of aoe3, you'll surely be disappointed, though.
for €8 though, it's a total steal. aoc is also worth getting i guess, but that's evident. :p

Age of Empires 3 was 10 cents like...four years ago. Too bad you guys didn't buy it at the time.

You can buy the whole Microsoft pack (Age of Empires II HD, Age of Empires II HD: The Forgotten, Age of Empires® III: Complete Collection, Age of Mythology: Extended Edition, Rise of Nations: Extended Edition) for like 23 euro.
Thats a good deal.
edit: Rise of Nations is a great game, and I'm playing through Mythology right now.
Wish someone would port Armies of Exigo to Steam or GOG already. Battle for Middle Earth one and two are bogged down in licence limbo, such a shame some you just can't buy some good RTS's anymore :/

Shadowgate for $5 looks really tempting
So is Blacklist for $7.5.
Wil probably be getting Original Sin after all and Shadowgate too
Wolfestein New Order its a great game for those who may want to buy it

Idk about the rest tho.

Yep, I can't think of a worse Sale in the last few Years. My Wishlist is full, but most Games are only 25%/33% off. :o

I've been playing it and AoE3 recently. I actually prefer Rise of Nations by a significant margin. Rise of Nations has more interesting economy management and tech choices. Also, AoE3 has a frustratingly bad attack-move.
Edit: Don't Starve is an excellent game. It's not for everyone but I highly recommend it if you like survival rogue-likes. I really want to try out Don't Starve Together because multiplayer was the one thing the game was missing.

I think I'm just running out of games I want, so the sales look shit

I also have a lot of games on my wishlist and they're not that much off. But ... most of those games have been released within the last 6months.
It's actually insane that there are game which have been out for 2 months which are 50% off (or more). I would honestly feel ripped off if I bought such a game at release; especially considering that the first few weeks are usually bug ridden shitfests.

you should never buy games at launch, ever

QFT. Triple-A game production has been crap over the last decade. I stopped buying games at release even before that. There's almost no point now. Games are sold today mostly on hype rather than substance. It's even hard to trust a lot of video game reviewers/critics since most them either have to hop in bed with game producers or find a new job. The ones who have managed to avoid that fate are few and far between.

I dont have problems buying games on launch if $ was only the facto in it, is just that games are released in such a bad state is that its just not worth it
Only buy games on launch if the Port/Game/Developer did a good job with it and they deserve it

A lot of games these days have launch/preorder sales that are more or less equivalent to the first Steam sale they get, so people who bought the game at release aren't losing out relative to people who get them at the first Steam sale.
It doesn't change the fact that you shouldn't buy games at launch, though.

Bullshit! First of all, I never have paid more than 35€ for a Game on Releaseday and it does not matter if you Pre-Order - Prices are the same. Pre-Ordering ist stupid in 99% of the Cases. Unless its like Dark Souls 2 where you already knew everything (incl. how the PC Port is) there is no Reason not to Pre-Order. But for the usual AAA-Games no one should Pre-Order. I bet we all have more than enough to play and waiting 6 Month saves you Money and you get a better Game-Experience.
