I'm at the boss door for whatever is in the depths now. Wish me luck. Goodluck, and good job killing that demon. I get absolutely destroyed by it. I can't roll or dodge without getting slammed to the ground and losing 80% of my hp in the first 2 seconds of the fight.

I loved the difficulty of the combat itself but hated having to go all the way back to the beginning to reach a boss again. Does the checkpoint system help a lot in Dark Souls to reduce the distance? Not really. The only difference is that in the first game you got sent back to the beginning of that specific level, whereas in Dark Souls you just get set back to the bonfire which effectively acts as a "start" of the level.

Yes I know where to go. + Show Spoiler + You get a key from the butterfly after you go up the stairs next to her, where you get the ember. After getting this go talk to w/e blacksmith you want to improve your items and give it to him. (I can't ascend my items yet and i have no idea how but w/e) After you do this there are two doors you can open, the door in bottom of the tower where you fought the Taurus, and you can open the door across from the dragon that breaths fire at you at the bridge. From there you go wayy down deep. Then you can connect the areas with the main bonfire that gives you 10 souls. You'll find them. I'm a little bit past that, beneath the city. I love this game 10/10. It's so hard but now that my equipment is getting better I am taking lives.

Actually some of the bonfires are pretty damn close to the boss. So I do find the system better.

I've found myself doing the same thing i did in Demon's - full melee character that just make life 10 times harder than it should be.

This game seems to be similar, maybe a BIT more forgiving, but youll still have to redo some stretches. There were some fast runbacks in VoD if you were willing to make some really scary looking jumps. Speaking of the Valley of Defilement, I just got to Blight Town and got the same vibe. Lots of narrow walk ways, planks, verticality, poison/disease theme, and a really similar atmosphere - just a bit less dirty looking. Also, I have no idea where I'm going in Blight Town. I got to a long narrow blank bridge that kept shifting back and forth as I walked across it, jumped and looted a humanity off a corpse, and felt kind of stuck in that part. So I jumped down onto what looked like a little ledge on one of the bridge's columns that wasn't far below me and died. Haven't found a bonfire down there yet, so I'm still running from the one near the Taurus demon. Edit: Just realized it's 6:30 AM. Gotta head to class soon, and then it's off to IPL3 for 4 days. Don't wanna go 4 days w/o Dark Souls. )=

I'm a warrior and just killed the gargoyle bell boss. I know that the butterfly boss is next, will arrows be sufficient against him? I don't have magic.

Also if you are in Human form you can summon a Witch to help under the stairs before the boss.

Won't get too detailed, but it's a pretty quick boss to figure out, so just give it a go and see.

As for ascending your weapons you have to get it to + some random amount. I think you need an ascended one to do the catacombs but not really sure. I'm still using the drake sword.
