I'm hELLRAZER, formerly hEiMDALL in 2005, and back in the day, I was the owner of the Spanish StarCraft community website go2battle.com. I am writing to you because I have recently recovered a massive backup from my old site, and I’ve found some "holy grail" material for the Brood War community.
I have physical video recordings (not just replays, but actual footage of the players and their keyboards) from two major tournaments in Madrid and Barcelona (2005).
Highlights of the footage:
The Birth of G2: I have footage of the very first tournament where the team G2 competed officially. The roster featured a legendary lineup including Suker, Alfa, Zelotito and a very young Ozmita at the start of his career.
International Legends: The videos include footage of Ret (The Dutch King) playing against the top Spanish elite of that era.
Legendary Players: Clear footage of Suker (the first Spaniard to join Templars of Twilight), Zelotito, Squall, Alfa, and Larios.
Technical Detail: The videos show "first-person" perspectives, focusing on their keyboards and hand movements, which was very rare to capture back then.
This material has been sitting on a hard drive for nearly 20 years. I believe it is a crucial piece of eSports history, especially documenting the early roots of the "G2" name in Spain before the LoL era and the prime of the best Spanish players in Brood War.
I want to make sure this is preserved and shared with the community correctly. In the coming days, I will be re-editing and assembling these videos, as they are currently separate fragments. Once finished, I will upload them to YouTube so the entire community can enjoy them once again.
Best regards,
hEiMDALL (go2battle.com)
