Yeah eventually you might want to get around to breaking that curse of the undead or whatever. But that will wait while you find your way around the world and level up some.

Do you have to buy multiple Soul Arrows, for instance, in order to attune it to multiple slots? If so, where is the first place you can pick up another SA?

That guy definitely was way too hard, but... no, I should keep going... oh, a dragon just breathed fire on me and killed me instantly; I'm definitely not supposed to be here..." ...Or are you? :-p The fun thing with Dark Souls for me so far has been a few places where I'm wondering that -- this is really hard, maybe I'm not supposed to be here yet, maybe I need to find an easier place... Then I die a few more times, figure out what I'm doing wrong, and kill a boss that I thought was impossible. That's the great reward of the game imo, seeing yourself get better, get smarter, and do things you didn't think you could.

Quick question though: how are classes looking like in this game? That's one of the few things I found a bit disappointing about the first one: did not really matter what you chose and the fact that I could not find a reliable way to use magic other than for buffs. The class system hasn't really changed much -- it gets less important as you go along because you can build your character however you want. Still, the starting stats, starting equipment, starting spells if you're a magic user, definitely matter early on, and the game doesn't exactly start out easy either. I'm actually still using the same armor I started with, 50 hours into the game, and haven't found a duplicate set yet I don't think, so what class you pick can definitely matter, but it doesn't lock you into anything permanently. I haven't played a magic character in Dark Souls yet, but I'm not sure I understand your point about magic not being useful except for buffs in Demon's Souls. I found playing a magic character in Demon's Souls made some fights and areas much easier at the expense of being more fragile. There were quite a few items in Demon's Souls that gave big +magic damage boosts, so with a decent magic stat you could do such a ridiculous amount of damage at times. The magic system in Dark Souls is a little different as mentioned above, but ultimately similar, so if you didn't enjoy playing a magic character in Demon's Souls, maybe do something more melee-focused instead, at least at first.

The correct path for new characters is to go uphill then upstairs until you enter the castle city.

But anytime anything can be gained (even if you're hitting a dead end) I would consider it a correct path. Extra souls/items is worth me going down the "wrong" path for.

Yeah sorry, my point was not clear enough. On the contrary, I would love to play magic only. In DS, I just thought that using your mana for offensive spells was just weak (or would cost too many potions to be efficient) compared to using it for Guard and the weapon's buff that scale with magic. But it looks like it's more or less the same so I'm probably not going to play magic this time ![]()

Im a little familiar with the game concept, but haven't played the prequel before since I own an x360. Im hyped for the game and Im hoping to buy it as soon as it's out in EU, but is the game anywhere near playable without being online? I've read a couple of reviews where the editor has underscored the fact that the online play is a mandatory part of the whole experience, and that being offline makes the game SIGNIFICANTLY harder. Is this really true, or do you really find the possibility to be online a mandatory? Is the game worth buying if you cant play it online? The reason im asking this is that my network equipment are quite far away from my xbox, and i use xbox live very randomly, like 5-10 times a year when i play a game or two online or when i download stuff. It's always a hassle with the cables (it's like 30 meters of cable required), so i usem them only when i need something specific done. Sure, i could buy the xbox wireless adapter, but it feels like a waste since to me Dark Souls seems like the first and only game that requires the online capabilities permanently, instead of just DLC downloading or random online matches twice a year.

I think I'm around 16, only killed the Taurus so far and I've just been exploring the Parish. Killed the mini-boss knight inside the chapel and I found the blacksmith, then went further down and found a big headless demon with a staff that shoots lightning. Ran passed him and went deep down into the forest area until I saw all the glowing giants and turned back. Not sure where I should be heading from the blacksmith. In some ways I'm enjoying the open world, but at the same time it's all a bit confusing, and I feel like it's actually a bit restrictive compared to the Nexus acting as a hub world in DS. Really enjoyable game so far though, and definitely more challenging than DS.

I don't know what that guy must have been smoking, but playing the game offline is probably the easiest way to play it because you can't get invaded by other players. I don't remember if you got pure white tendency (mobs get slightly weaker) default for being online, but I doubt it. I would say it's definitely worth buying even if you never go online, I did that my first play-trough of Demon's Souls and it was very enjoyable and good for me because when I started going online and got invaded I actually knew how to play the game.
