I did play a little Planetside a couple of years ago or 4 when Totalbiscuit talked about it on one of his streams.
If you remember you account info for that old PS1 account, you get autoaccepted into closed beta.
How do you get that with your original planetside game? You have to remember the actual account or can is there a way to give them your cd key?
might be worth msging them and trying to look it up
i had them find a 2006 account a few years ago without a problem, i remembered the old email tho
Holy crap I need to contact SOE to see if I can get my old account from forever ago(9 years now, jesus).
I remember when I first heard about the original Planetside. I don't think I had ever been so excited for a game before it was released. Up to that point, Ultima Online was my only MMO experience and the appeal of a game that combined that sort of persistent world + massive number of players + FPS gameplay (I was a big CS 1.5 player at the time) was almost too much to handle.
I actually joined up with a bunch of folks on a forum before the game was released and made a clan of sorts. We pretty much played BF1942 and Counter Strike together to get ready for Planetside. We played New Conglomerate when the game finally came out. Played for a few months but couldn't play when I was home from school because my parents only had dial-up and the lag was tough to deal with. Man I miss that game. Favorite thing to do was find a base being fought over by Vanu and TR and take one of the small scout bikes (forgot the name), load it up with bolt-driver ammo and camp the path between the two bases. I'd take pot-shots at both armies from my little hiding spot. With the main battle going on, the other players hardly noticed when a blue name would pop up across the top instead of a red or purple one. Never got to play with the Mechs (stopped playing before they were added) but being part of a massive dropship raid on a base was also a hell of a lot of fun.

...really need to find my old SOE account info...
if you remember ur old email or id/pw, might be able to get soe to reactive it
I am a little torn on what nation to pick. Vanu seems to have the best gunships, even if SOE tries their best to balance them I can't see Vanu lose with the mobility they got.
On the other hand Vanu have the least interesting ground units I think. As infantry I would rather try TR or NC :/

How are their infantry less interesting? Everyone gets the same classes; weapons are different, but there's a lot of customization you can do to fine-tune your playstyle, and we really don't have a lot of specific weapon details yet.
I think I'll try out both NC and VS at first (assuming I find a job and have the money for a gaming rig so I can play this amazing game). I disagree with the TR ideology too much to really get into them; NC and VS I can both see some merits to, and I'm curious to try out the VS energy weapons and see how they feel. I just found the reload animation on some of their guns pretty cool -- having a little round power-cell type thing instead of a clip.

If the Magrider is anything like it was in PS1, its the best tank BY FAR. Strafing is OP in Tank battles.
edit: damn it, ment to edit my last one not double post >_<
