Sabertooths are even worse. My god.
It's just, that first bear in the beginning cave gets 2 shotted easy.

I´m still scared of bears at level 30

Hmmm... might be the tutorial in the start of the game. Go for a stroll around Riften, you'll never want to see a bear again in your life.

Yeah when I played my sneak archer I wasn't the least bit scared of any of the animals (well anything at all really lol) on masters. But I'm playing up my battlemagy char and wtf that snow sabre cat just 2 shot me?? like 10 times in a row lol. Had to turn down difficulty just cuz I wanted to get by him.

So apparently the animal control spell that Wood Elf's get works on Trolls.
Oh lawdy.

Light or Heavy armor? Take a heavy punch, or be agile and dodge around like crazy?
P.S. - no stealth, that's for bitches.
And if I go Light, which side should I go up on Smithing? Because if I dont' build up heavy armors I don't get Daedric/Ebony weapons, which seems like a huge downside. Light armor allows you to move faster at first, but heavy armor is definitely the way to go if you're dual wielding, since your inability to block leaves you more vulnerable to physical attacks. Eventually, both light and heavy armors can reach the armor cap of 567, which provides 80% physical damage reduction. Oh and in case you haven't noticed someone mention it before, smithing is pretty imbalanced, so if you want the game to not be a breeze I recommend you don't put points into it at all. Daedric items start appearing in loot past level 45 or so, and to have them before that would make things easier than they should be. You need smithing if you are going to play on Master. A bandit thug on Master difficulty can kill me (level 40 full legendary glass) in a straight fight easily if I just button mash like a dumbass. It's funny. Dragon is actually the least of dangers. Everything on Master hits like a wreckball, tank fireballs in the face like a bawss, and, unlike the peaceful pacifist Dragons, they are all berserkers on crack, even the mudcrabs. Dragons need a buff badly. Bears need a nerf. You never known danger till you travel North and hear the roar of a snow bear on master difficulty. If you don't like quicksaving and quickloading, my advice is run for your life. If you're a wood elf, Command Animal is so crucial when wandering the outdoors -- works on bears and even frost trolls. Even better than that is Kyne's Peace cuz it's AOE, and you get it pretty early on. And you must not have a lot of HP and not dual wielding if you can still die to regular npc's... I did Master without any perks or training in smithing (I did improve my equipment to "Fine" to add a couple points of damage and AC, but that's hardly anything). Large HP buffer + dual wielding = run up to stuff and kill everything. Gosh, sneak type characters are just so much fun. Dark Brotherhood gloves + dual wield daggers = insta-kill a dragon. (and no I didn't get the 100 sneak perk.. most of my perks went to damage and AC)
Nahhh, I don't dual wield. I am doing a jack of all trade, master of none sort of build. I basically one hand wield and left hand casting. My primary tactic against enemy is guerrilla warfare. I only die if I button mash like a dumbass or trapped in enclosed space or forced to fight one of those 1 hit KO mages.
If I make my character too OP, I would lose all interest in the game fast.

Slow Time shout, destruction mastery for the knockback, or any sort of sneaking skill/spell will do. I had to use option 3 on my mage character whenever I encountered a bear or saber cat until I finished the mage guild quests.
They're the same as the mountain lions in Oblivion: run faster than you, have an undodgable lunge, and do 10x more damage than any single thing you'll find randomly wandering (except maybe a Giant, but most of them are around camps).

Started my 3rd character. Going Altmer Mage-type, focusing on Destruction, Conjuration and Restoration. Secondary focuses will be enchanting, alchemy, alteration. No weapon skills, no armor skills. Wizard Robes and maybe a staff
My characters tend to nest in a specific Hold, and I try to do all the missions and dungeons in the surrounding area. No Fast Travel except for the horse and carriage.
Anyone want to pitch some ideas or suggestions for this guy? My first character was a Nord Sword and Board warrior based out of Whiterun (Level 42) and my 2nd character was a thief/assassin build based out of Riften (level 27). Not that I was bored with my characters, I just need the occaisional change of pace :D

Honestly with Destro/Conjuration you will never need resto. I wouldn't put a single point into it, as impact and your aggro-magnet pets will let you never get hit (lvl 50 pure mage). You actually don't even really need alteration at all either, for the same reasons.
Edit: I play master difficulty in case you were wondering

Yeah, Alteration and Restoration are really more for me wanting to use those trees

The game really kinda dies out after 35ish for me, combat has zero challenge with your chosen profession and all the dungeons are just same randomized loot that isn't worth picking up because the alchemy materials are more effective zzZZz
I did pretty much the same as you, I picked a hold per character, most recent a thief/assassin in riften. Was good fun though, sneaky sneaky. If it wasn't so unrealistic at high sneak lvls where you can wave your hand at someone's face and they won't notice, it would be more cool.
Haven't touched Solitude much at all so far, city looks big so there's probably a good load to do. Time for an imperial footman maybe.

What's the point of killing deers and rabbits and mine ores if I am not going to make use out of them?
My character doesn't specialize in anything. In fact, I am 99 smithing and I never bought any ores or leather for smithing training. I suppose the word "need" should be swapped with "useful".
Honestly it depends on style of gameplay. I can totally see a sneak character or a master shield player having zero use of smithing.
I can deal with most monsters on Master easily, yet there remained an element of tension. There are still enemies out there that can kill me in a straight fight (if I don't abuse conjuration, sneak or companion), thus it makes the game worth playing.
Btw, you guys should grab immerse UI, lush grass and lush trees from Skyrim nexus. They increase the immersion immensely.

Solitude is the most amazing city... I think. I walked around that city exploring for hours, and I haven't even begun any of the quests inside it.
It is a shame all the other cities are so small though

So yeah
Necromancer is amazing.

The nightingale invis spell + 30x backstab damage = 120 seconds of 1 shotting anything and taking next to no return fire. and you only need to do that if they all see you and swarm you. I stopped doing stealth kills for a few dungeons because I needed to actually level other things up...
The power makes you go invis whenever you crouch, but you turn un-invis after an attack. you can however stand up and crouch again to go invis as many times as you want within the 2 minutes. so you can kill, stand, crouch, kill, stand, crouch, etc in the middle of crowded rooms.

Well, I actually just didn't hunt or mine until I hit lvl 60 or so and figured that I needed to smith if I was going to hit the max level. And for me, I get 1-3 shotted by every opponent except for the ones that don't scale very highly, like soldiers. In return, it takes about 20 magic attacks to kill each opponent.

I think I'm more or less done with Skyrim for a few months. It's been fun but after 100 hours it's just gotten so repetitive. Only like 3 or 4 dungeon types, a lot of the radiant quests are just the same thing, etc.
One of the best games I've played in a long time and I plan to follow mods (especially Tytanis') to see how they will add content and eventually I'll pick it up again.
I didn't "finish" my main character like I wanted to. I've done most quests, but on 2 seperate characters. One of them has done DB/Companion and is Thane in more than half the cities (including doing all the quests in those areas) and finished most of the daedric quests while another character is Thane in 2 other cities and has finished the College and the main game.
I had started on the path to max out everything, but using weapons when you have no perks in them got boring pretty fast (I maxed 2H and got 1H to 50 before I started feeling "meh"). I already feel powerful enough to do anything, it's not motivating to play more to stay at the same overall power.
I might play once in a while but I'm going back to my real addiction for a while now, Guild Wars (~3500 hours played on that lol...)

I really hated the Thief skills until I finally got the Invisibility spell. It's so cool to run around invisible, sneak and kill stuff. Although it takes a lot longer than just charging in with summons and fireballs or hack and slash. Then again I can just avoid a lot of the enemies. Illusion is definitely fun.

Got a question about the merchants that appear when you complete the "special requests" for the Thieves Guild. Does the blacksmith one appear in the Ratways? I have some weird bug going on that causes a CTD whenever I enter the Ratways (Warrens and Vaults are unaffected), so I can't confirm it for myself. If so, is he just your standard blacksmith merchant, or does he have something notable about him? And where do the other merchants show up?
