Make a fishyzon 20 pts into lightning fury 20 pts into charged strike 20 pts into frozen arrow and 20 pts into cold arrow Relies HEAVILY on +skills, so plays rather similar to a sorc.
Remaining pts into pre-reqs, dump rest in the passive tree. Strafe/FA zon is another great build, but it will stall hardcore without a proper bow, not to mention being super lucky on charms (+dmg/AR)
@Spyfire: with a Maghar (outland orcs) skin the ressemblance is even closer. They just added facial hair.

I was joking btw, blizzards art style has been this way for all their games for a long time. its not just warcraft, and clearly the graphics are a great improvement.

Woot I've been a fan of D2 for years, playing for a few months then taking a break and then getting back into it ^^ I remember playing d2 and then getting the expansion while I was living in cali. I can't wait for D3 :D
|
I might be interested in playing d2 again is anyone wants to start fresh characters with me? What do you all think, anyone up for it?

What, you mean that they don't start with naked people, and then put clothes on them?

I loved d2 when I was little, even though I was too young to know what I was doing or even play it right. Can't wait for d3 (hope I can afford it >_>). Now that I'm older and wiser maybe I will even be able to build my char in a way that makes a little sense. Can't decide between playing a barb or a wizard. Wizard lines up better with my personality, but barbarians are just so damn fun ^_^

Blizzard released some new information about Runestones that you use on your skills:
link
Make sure to check out the videos for some of the skills and how they look after they're modified. I don't know if they will have a different system for runewords like in d2x or if they will have them at all but this kind of reminds me of the glyph system from WoW.

No, runewords aren't in D3. Runes are only used with skills in D3. And it's awesome btw!

Nah, this system is way cooler. In WoW you had at most one glyph per skill, and could only have a set amount of glyphs. So you just use the 3 best, and there is little choice. Using one Rune/Glyph per skill and have a choice of which to use, preferably with not one being the ultimate best, makes for more customisability (Is this even a word?)

Fuck, I just gave in after months of holding back and re-installed Diablo 2. The Runestones videos broke me.
There goes what little social life I had.

Well, rather than picking the best 3 of 10 (give or take), three times in WoW, you pick the best 1 of 5, seven times. They look pretty cool except the Golden rune ones that reduce the resource cost. Not sure why they'd bother to put those in. They know nobody enjoys them as much as other cool effects.

It seems to me that there is a pretty clear heirarchy of runes. Crimson and Indigo runes seem to be by far the best as they increase output. I'm sure all are just fine and in certain builds/situations could be exceptional but it seems like there is a gradient of effectiveness. Makes sense, diablo is built on somethings being better (and rarer) then others. Ultimately, I think we'll see in the end game everyone wanting the same runes for the samethings, which is not unexpected.

I hope they're more tactical than that and certain areas and encounters will favor rune x which you'll need to change out depending on where you're headed or what you're doing. It's kinda impossible to not have a best though unless the effect is useless like changing the color of a missile.

If the Runes end up being random drops, which is more than likely, I doubt you'll have the luxury of just swapping things out when necessary. What is the best choice for one build, may not be the best for another, though. Like if your selection of spells are very powerful in single-target boss fights, but you want more AOE farming, you could apply some Indigo runes on one of your more spammable spells.

I think most of the runestones look pretty useful except for the golden runestones, unless each resource system is more limited than I'm predicting. I also hope that the higher end runestones are quite rare so that they don't become worthless and easily interchangable without a care.
Edit: I just watched the videos showing off some examples...and holy shit I'm seriously pumped for this game now. Arrgghhh...and I will probably have to wait like 8 months or so before I can actually play it
Edit #2: lol @ Witch Doctor's alabaster option.

Gotta disagree with you there: Golden rune = more spamming of skills = pew pew! (though in general I'd always go for the crowd control)
My first class is definitely going to be the witch doctor, can't wait, and for the witch doctor runes I think I'd pick the Golden one just because I like the idea of plaguing enemies with DoT so I can strafe around doing other things while I wait for them to die

TheRealPaciFist taking the pacifist way of fighting?
My brother use to love the necromancer. I hated it. Far too slow. Having to constantly summon an re-summon stuff was so pointless to me. Besides I liked the dps of assassins too much.
I've always like the idea of being high damage output with fragility of life.
Anyway imo, nothing beats 'bitch slapping' demons in the face.

lol, I didn't think of that.
Summons can be fun, or they can be a chore. Technically, when you play a wizard you're constantly having to recast spells you've already casted, but the thing is, casting those spells is fun. I'm hoping the witch doctor will have a lot of fun quirky spells and summons in his arsenal.
Of course, I'll probably make one of each character right off the bat and play a bit with all of them, just some more than others... actually taking all the characters far would be too much drain on schoolwork and social life ^^
