Really enjoyed that! Couldn't help but get the feeling that the Monk is kind of a "push a button and watch" class though. Very long attack animations and little room to maneuver once you've engaged. I'm looking forward to making an attackspeed + crit build with one and pair it with a haste buffer though, had some crazy fun with that concept with (fist)Monk + Necro in Baldur's Gate DA:2!
@Vaero We want to make sure that if you see a HC char on B.net, you’ll know they’re HC That is the sentence that makes me wonder. If they don't change anything from D2(you can already see if a char is hc or not in the chat) why mention it?
My impression of Jay is that he is a good designer, but may not have paid too much attention to the finer points of Diablo 2. I recall that in one interview, he was not aware that there was a /players X command in D2. Its possible that he was not aware, or wants to enhance the characteristics of a hardcore avatar.
For those who don't know/remember, hardcore characters get different titles than Softcore for beating normal/nightmare/hell difficulties. They also have their avatars in a battle-ready stance in the chat channels as opposed to the somewhat lost look to the SC chars.
Perhaps he wishes to do the same, or add something to your Bnet profile. Maybe there will be a special insignia next to your character's name. What I am quite sure of, however, is that he does not want to change what it means to be a hardcore character.
The thing is, hardcore characters CAN NOT be on the same 'server' as softcore characters simply because they need the items to be seperate, otherwise gearing a hardcore character means nothing as it's most likely going to be all items obtained on softcore.

It will probably be just like D2. SC players could not join a game created by a HC character and vise-versa.

Speaking as someone who played the monk at blizzcon last year, the monk was the least fun of the classes I played. The problem was that your "mana" or whatever it was would not go up except for attacking/using a few skills, leading to awkwardness where at the end of an engagement you accidentally have no "mana" and kinda have to awkwardly run up to the next set of monsters and build it up before you can do anything again. And if you had "mana", you'd expel all of it doing awesome stuff and then have nothing for the next set of monsters. So it was pretty awkward and not fun.
I guess technically you'd think the barbarian would have a similar problem with rage but when I played I didn't feel it at all and the barb was always ridiculously fun and always had fun buttons to press.
IMO the fun order for me was Barb = Doctor > wizard > hunter > monk.
I am already concerned about the balance ramifications of The Monk. It looks like it will either be ridiculously good or ridiculously bad, like the old WoW ret paladins.

It looks like the one move which makes him unhittable would make him an extremely easy beginner class as if it scales with life-leech it would be pretty easy to farm items, and potentially in pvp could have balance issues.

I'm also afraid that he doesn't have enough AOE attacks so that in PVE he will have trouble clearing areas, unless they increase his power too much making him too good against single mobs/players.
although you have to admit, the demon hunter cred is formidably bad. (mj bad)
when you look back at...incidents like night elf hunters and blood elf paladins, you realize that looking ridiculous won't matter if the gameplay suits you.
On my battlenet acount it is sold for 15 euros original and 15 euros for the expansion..... Are they crazy ? the game is 10 years old or something like that.
For some strange reason, Blizzard games are always insanely expensive on the Blizzard shop. I have no idea what the reason for that is.
Availability is my bet, since it is hard(or harder) to get a hard (cheap) copy of Diablo, Blizzard opts for the (always available) digitagle download.
Which obviously they have monopoly off and can get a nice amount of $ from.
Fuck I need a beta key btw.
Anytime I go to any store be it Walmart or Best Buy they always have a D2 Collector pack for 39.99 it is pretty stupid I agree about how old the game is and still no price drop.

No price drop because it still sells at it's current price

Nothing wrong with that.
Exactly probably won't see a price drop until Diablo 3's release.

That shadow hits from random places move is pretty beautiful I must say. They seem to have longer animations which would give them more chances of dying ( unless it grants immunity while it lasts ), Also haven't seen any quick movement skills for them, but ofc we haven't seen everything yet.

Seems like you would just fly all over the place, not necessarily attacking what you want to be. Doesn't seem like it would translate well into PvP.
Also not a fan of the witch doctor's spells for sort-of the same reason. He seems a little too slow-paced.
Demon Hunter lolno.
Barbarian.. maybe... ... Baba's raped d2 classic though. I don't know if they would let that happen in D3 too.
I'm sorta leaning towards the wizard. I don't like slow paced, but I'm not sure I like glass cannon either. Maybe I'll just do baba. >.<
(btw I wanted to be monk when I first heard about him... then I saw his gameplay videos)
They edit skills for pvp. The slow fire bombs are super fast cast time in pvp for example from the PvP videos.
