Now I'm level 57 and nearly all this gear is still equipped, because nothing I looted in 12 levels was better that what I bought for peanuts from the AH. It's not very fun. I'm not even excited when I identify stuff because I know that there's like no chance in Hell that it will be better than what I can buy off the AH for next to nothing. I can understand that Inferno would work that way, so that people need a long time to get great stuff, but the previous difficulties could have been more rewarding. Since gaining levels would make powerful items obsolete rather quickly anyway, why not let people get great stuff themselves? AH is already flooded, so it wouldn't change much to flood it even more. Conspiracy theory: Blizzard did it that way so that the AH (and more importantly the RMAH) would be the go-to place to get stuff (as opposed to getting it yourself) so they get their fat % cut. Inferno was supposed to take months to complete and fuel this need, but got pwned by gamers who found ways to complete and farm the endgame more quickly than Blizzard thought, bringing prices down even before the RMAH is even online. I think they lost a shitton of money here (not that they didn't already make another shitton selling copies, and will again selling xpacs). Yep thats bothering me aswell. I think i havent found something useful since lvl 9 and i am 52 now and im not exaggerating here...thats just bad game design. I dont know how people on the AH find this stuff but its 200% better than the shit that drops at my games. The prices are very cheap aswell...

I'm pretty sure like 95% of the 50-59 drops that go on AH come from A1 Inferno.

Is this... standard? I thought it was supposed to be a huge payout - did I just get a terrible luck of the draw? After your first pass through normal, bosses pretty much cease to give good loot until you hit level 60. Once you're level 60 you get a buff from beating champion packs, if you have five stacks of this buff you get big piles of loot after beating event bosses so it goes back to having huge payouts. I feel like this means that the game's loot system is designed with the intent that you'll even get to level 60 and inferno mode- thus placing the huge bulk of the emphasis on the serious gamers who are willing to grind through hell mode and play through nightmare and hell with crummy drops, endlessly-crafted items, or bought gear from the AH. Obviously, this grind is fine for those of us who are used to it, but I feel it isolates the huge group of casual gamers who are assuming they'd see some intermittent rewards littered throughout the acts on any difficulty. I'm in hell mode and I've never seen a set piece or unique item drop or really gotten a serious set of loot dropped by bosses/ mobs... and I'm at level 56 right now, and I hardly feel rewarded for completing as much as I've done so far. (Obviously it's not as much as those who are level 60 and in inferno mode, but most casual gamers aren't going to bother playing Identical D3 for the third time in a row- let alone a fourth- when nothing but the difficulty changes and there are seemingly no rewards.) I find that to be a major problem. In Diablo 2, you'd find the occasional set piece or unique item drop from time to time (even in normal mode), and even if it wasn't great, you'd know the possibility for something greater was there and that you could obtain it. That helped fuel the desire to keep playing. This is actually a good point. I got my first legendary and set item in D2 looong before max level (Never actually got a character maxed). In D3 I have gotten one after a bit of lvl 60 grinding. This game is not rewarding as a single person experience imo. It is designed as a weird mmo where you can only see 3 other persons at any time max. My friend and I both got our first legendaries in lower difficulties (him in normal act 1, me in hell act 3). I think that probably either the drop rate for legendaries is lower than in D2 or you don't kill as many creeps before the finaly difficulty as you did in D2. The drop rate is definitely lower, but it's lower in all areas (compared to D2), not just endgame - people who farm just spend much more time there so it's reasonable that most legendaries are found in inferno. I found 4 legendaries and 1 set item (all except 1 crap, other one so-so), but I have this feeling that none of them came from mobs. I got them from dead bodies (2), vases (1), dead jailers (1) and the last one I can't remember. I guess Blizz wants you to interact with the environment.. I have no idea what happened, and I'm definitely not mistaking it for another item. I'm definitely unhappy because I could have sold the original axe for a decent amount, but now this replacement version is worthless. Anyone ever heard of this occurring? You probably sold off the wrong one to the vendor by mistake.

What they actually could do is implement a crafting system (the blacksmith is gambling).

In any case, I've found the best gear to be stuff with "reduced level requirement" which you pretty much find only several levels too late. You can get level 48 weapons with absurd damage because at heart they are level 60 weapons. edit: it seems it goes up to -18 levels, so level 42. you can have a 800 dps weapon halfway through nightmare. wow.

I liked any of those games, yes I had thing I dont liked or things that I would have liked to be different every now and then but I loved and love those games and play/ed them for a long long time. But Diablo 3 only a couple of weeks past release is becoming unbearable to play for me .... I was longing to play it with my friends but it was a disappointment. Besides from the infamous error 37 and the other EU server problems this game just feels horrible and unrewarding. The controls feel extremly slugish, the character often seems to be locked in an animation and becomes unresponsive. The latency is horrible and this is really nerfwrecking when you play a DH at inferno and the only thing that saves you from certain death and this is fast reflexes and instant action. The loot, is just bad for the most part past nightmare difficulty. The item level and the stats of the items do not reflect the difficulty level. You cant farm Hell to equip for inferno, you have to die through inferno to obtain those items, this is not fun its just a pain. 300 dps weapons dropping on inferno ? Why ? and other stuff that makes no sense. Yes it should take time to find the perfect weapon the uniques and set items but Its hard to even get a decent item thats not full of crap. The skills, Blizzard announced it should be fun to skill how you like according to your playstyle with many many many viable builds and that they dislike the cookie cutter philosophy, but looking at inferno this seems to be utter fail because there are not many viable ways to skill in inferno, just 1 or 2 skills are different for most of the classes. Act 4, seems very unfinished, you cant tell me that no one got the same idea at some point. It looks boring and loveless and even the 3 empty rooms at the bottom seemed to have been intended for somekind of event or boss that was never implemented. Inferno, Blizzard never tested it or gave any thought to it but give the mobs more HP more dmg and make some of the elite packs utterly stupid and more difficult then end bosses. So in short words, crappy controls, bad servers and really really bad loot. There is just no motivation to play. Can I play through the game ? Yes, I can beat the game and die thorough it its no heroic deed, its just a real pain and the rewards, the loot is just utter crap.

Random encounters can be practicably unbeatable but they are also skippable, you can reset the instance to "reroll". The intended "endgame" isn´t doing bosses over and over but to prepare and challenge the myriad possibilities the RNG can throw at you.

The possibility of the monster affixes and its combination is fixed and small and not random. The elite packs are not challenging either, they are just boring grinding pain and uninteresting or like someone said you leave em and search for the next pack if you don't like the affixes, so yeah really challenging :S And the valor buff especially its implementation is uttermost fail, or where is the sense of making bosses from normal to lvl 60 not drop rare items anymore ? Also one DC and you just lost all the buffs, you cant even log out for a sec to check the AH and other stuff. This game is not tested nor is it thought out.

The gameenviroment isn´t as random as it was in D2? True. Elite packs aren´t challenging? False, which is why being able to get around them by resetting is important. It costs you the valor buff, that´s the tradeoff if you can´t deal with a certain combination. Bosses don´t drop rares. False, in fact they are guarranteed to if you have full valorstacks. You know there is a difference between constructive criticism and whining. There is no arguing about opinions but try to keep a civil and mature tone.
