That said I've always thought a second xpac was more likely so that's still my guess.

As mentioned the necro does overlap in d3, it is just one picture of what is probably a ton of art ready for the event, and it has nothing in it that has to mean it's d3(logo, notable other character, etc). That said I've always thought a second xpac was more likely so that's still my guess. the counter to that line of thinking is that Blizzard gave away a substantial amount of content and new game play features right around the time people expected a 2nd expansion to be announced. the speculation goes that this substantial amount of content was aimed at being a 2nd expansion and after a survey of D3 users revealed a low amount of receptiveness for a 2nd expansion they squashed it. Rhykker stated in his video that there is nothing conclusive in any of the "clues" Blizzard has left and that the 4 sided die is the most commonly misprinted dice during manufacturing. is this what it was like in the 1980s when people wanted to know "Who Shot JR?"

It's also the most painful to step on by some margin.

That said, from my perspective the time is right for a D4. D3 sold incredibly well and while Vanilla had a lot of flak RoS did a lot to show how Blizzard could turn things around. That being said there are still core problems with the game, and also things have just moved on a great deal in the last 5-6 years they were developing core concepts behind D3. I would love to see a more open ended approach to the world, more flexible drop in / out coop (hell maybe even stuff like Dark Souls invasions) with strangers and friends. Plus a huge one for me would be to make consoles online only, or at least provide an online platform which isn't riddled with exploits and bogus items. I know this is a PC forum, and I started D3 on PC but I personally prefer it a lot more on a controller, the game itself to me is fundamentally about switching off a bit and smashing stuff, its cathartic, and that goes hand in hand with a comfy sofa and controller. I'd take another expansion if it did a lot for the consoles online infrastructure but otherwise my interest wouldn't be huge.
