that's a sample size of 9 out of several million not to mention anyone playing it for 55 hours so far has been playing ~18 hours per day enjoying the "cutscene only" run a lot more than the "fetchquest only" run! (1hr30 in, gonna slep now)

What a stupid ending. Remember to let the credits roll to watch the final scene to be even more confused.

My opinion is that it's "good enough" ![]() My playthrough has definitely been enjoyable and I wouldn't say I regret the purchase. There's a ton of things that could/should have been done differently though. I think they got so much flak for 13 being overly linear that they felt obligated to introduce the open world element that dominates the first half of the game. Unfortunately the open world experience isn't anything more than just "ok", and it kind of diminishes what a classic jrpg is to me. edit: I have so much nostalgia for 6-9 though. Maybe if I didn't play earlier FF's my opinion would be better than "good enough" for this one.

They have chosen the perfect thematic to introduce the new open world final fantasy. The focus back onto crystals, evil empire and the warriors of the light is just a big love letter for the old fans. To have summons as god of final fantasy 15 world is also a damn good idea, I only wish they would have more info scattered around, or maybe even mention chaos and cosmos. Thematically this is my fav one out of all. The music is also very reminiscing. Onto game play, it's very kingdom heart like which is to say you might like it or not. Personally I enjoy it, it feels very smooth when you get the combos off. I love how they also emphasis the characters relationship within the battle. But it's also more automatic and less strategic, there's also less spells varieties. Overall, this is a huge step forward for final fantasy series. I was a bit worried they would lost their way since FF13 wasn't as popular and traditional turn base gameplay is becoming less popular. But FF15 has done a lot of things in the right direction and some that can be easily fixed. I like it not being a complete open world focused game like skyrim and keeping the main quest as the core game, while offering to explore and travel for sidequests. Overall it is definilty my top 5 FF to go for, it is great for old fans and very new comer friendly. There's probably more editions coming out like the previous FFs, so this is giving me a lot of hope for the future FF.

Also 12 hour long campaign. Is that a joke? I'm left disappointed since none of the side quests really grabbed my interest.

The combat is fun, the story is OK, i actually like the characters a lot, and the whole "roadtrip with the bros" theme is really fun. But the constant waiting and downtime is killing it for me, load times are long, car rides are long, everytime i go out at night, Ignis ALWAYS pulls me aside to tell me "its dangerous at night", like holy shit, leave me alone we have a hunt to do, and we have to do it at night, stop telling me its dangerous. As an OCD type, im always trying to clear the map, and do all the sidequests, but im starting to think im better off not touching any sidequests anymore, they are boring, poorly written, take forever with the constant getting in/out of your car and fast travelling not always being an option. Maybe its time to just B line it to the main quest stuff. Anyone else share these thoughts, am i being too nitpicky here? Edit::for reference, im lvl 24 @ 13hrs, i think i just hit chapter 4? The game certainly doesn't feel "short" considering the insane amount of sidequests you can do, as well as the hunts, and ive seen hunts that are very high level stuff, which i can only assume is not possible until you beat the game and grind for lvls or something.

I even spent about 2 hours playing that "pinball" game, where it's just about impossible to lose, had to eventually quit it as it was killing me.

I do get pretty annoyed when they put a long mountain range between me and my objective and it looks like Noctis could go over it but he can't. I'm like lvl 18, 9 hours in and at chapter 3 or 4. I even spent about 2 hours playing that "pinball" game, where it's just about impossible to lose, had to eventually quit it as it was killing me. I hear you there, instead of Pinball though, i spent far too much time fishing! I think the fishing is actually pretty well done, not really hard, but it works well. And yeah nothing is game breaking, it just wears on you over time is all, im still doing all the damn side quests even though i said i wouldn't, just too satisfying getting all them XP's, I just wish they limited the amount of sidequests an NPC could give you, some of these bastards have like 5 quests to give you! Its nuts!

There are reports, that you can beat the game in ~10h if you only do the mainstory and skip all the cutscenes. http://kotaku.com/people-have-already-cleared-final-fantasy-xv-in-japan-1789458728 Will be fun to see some speedrunners destroying the game in a few weeks! I don't have the game (because I don't own a PS4 or XBOX (or a TV...)), so my "outside" comment to the combat and what I want in a RPG: I had A LOT of fun with Witcher 3. Had no problems with dodging and blocking. If you don't like it, just play the easiest difficulty setting; then it is basic button mashing most of the time :D So, playing with "real time combat" is no problem for me; but only if you are alone. And being a "lone warrior" is basically all Witcher games are about! FF on the other side was always about a group of people! And it is always mentioned, that is like that and s this "bromance" in FFXV is so great and stuff ...And while you are fighting with other people in FFXV (and I think since 12...!?) you only really control one person. It just feels to me, that you are "alone" again. And I don't like that! Because it doesn't matter, how good the AI is, I always think I could do better, if I could control everyone! A game that I like to mention for this is: Star Ocean: Second Story! It is a combination from real time and turn based. You CAN play as a single player and just do hack&smash and hope for the best and the rest of the team. But you can ALSO control every hero seperately. It is actually quite challenging to switch between all the characters, position them correctly, use the right spells, ... THAT was an Action-RPG I can suppor! The newer FF ... nope; doesn't feel like FF! Release those games under a different name and I will support them as good games, but not as a FF!

Well i just finished chapter 13 as well, and holy shit, it just ruined the whole game for me. The most pointless fucking 2.5 hours ive ever played in a videogame. WTF WERE THEY THINKING! And frankly, highlights my main problem with the game, it has ZERO respect for the players time. Long ass loading screens, car rides which take forever, incredibly long animtions for nearly everything, cuts to black everytime you get in/out of the car, and so many more problems of that nature. Godammit, i was enjoying myself for the most part even though there's issues that i just mentioned, but this chapter is one of the laziest things ive ever experienced. Edit: And now at the final boss, if you fail it, you have to sit through the cut-scenes again, fantastic again.

Little did i know, JUST HOLD THE FUCKING CIRCLE BUTTON! I just held the fucking thing for 2 minutes until he died. I failed once and was just pissed off that a game in 2016 would make me restart at the beginning of a set of cutscenes, where the 1st one is NOT skippable, and the others are but still a waste of time Also, fuck the load times in this thing.
