Didn't they say, they moved the release date so there wasn't "day zero patches"???

Please Nomura only bring the open world and variation of the combat over to the remake of Final Fantasy VII.

However, I'm only 6 hours in and a good chunk of that has been side quests so I'm hoping the mid/end game storyline will carry the game. thats a really low bar tho

Its hectic, doesnt flow very well, and i just dont care for it. The combos seem random and the animations arent great either. Meh. I also returned the witcher 3 after 2 days because it was so complicated and in depth that it was too overwhelming and not fun. I think im getting old boys..... I'm still waiting for my copy, but did you try the wait mode?

Like literally i was at like the first tavern or inn or whatever and i was just like fuck this game. Cant explain it lol. And wtf is wait mode? This sounds like the exact solution i need. At work right now so i cant check it out. Edit: ill make a short attempt to explain. I dont like my rpgs to feel like fighting games. I think thats what it is. I dont like this light/medium/heavy/block/dodge/magic/item bullshit with combos and junk. Why the hell would i need a dodge AND a block. Just make it one mitigating move. And with attacks, just have one attack and one magic and use the analog sticks to create new moves or somethng. Again, a shitty and only partially accurate explanation. Im just nuts i guess. Give me turn based any day of the week.

i can't handle most games' gameplay either i deleted shadows of mordor after 10 minutes thinking jp must be a goddamn video game expert deleted cod5 and wolfenstein after 10 minutes of getting bored to tears my goty is Life is Strange, a talking simulator, go figure and i thought Inside was highly compelling as you only needed to press 'e' to progress (and i just watched other people play it because fuck puzzle games) i am, however, over 9k at dota i will tell you that i think ff13/15 "bullet sponge", "4 minutes to kill each regular mob encounter" combat system is literally the worst game design i've seen in my life . it was completely unforgivable for it to be in ff13 (which i quit after 15 hours for that reason alone) and i have completely lost faith in the company after seeing them keep it in since . i have played korean f2p MMOs from over 10 years ago that were magnitudes more fun, just because their combat system wasn't "spend literally 4 minutes to kill a basic mob, because we said so". i can't believe a multi million dollar corp can come out with this. it's like there is someone in charge who thinks its a good idea and no one will man up and tell him it's not. otherwise i can only attribute it to "old-fashioned" marketing ideas, which i get the impression are prevalent in japanese companies. as in, some idiot thinks it's crucial to artificially increase the length of the game, without realising that some of the best selling and most beloved games are only 4 hours long (Journey). i really get the impression that "behind the times" is not atypical of japanese companies (nintendo deleting everyones youtube accounts, anyone? amuse deleting guitar covers and bringing out a £65 tshirt with an unspeakably uninspired design that only come in 1 size?). even jp said it during his stream the other day, about one particular aspect of the game, "i haven't seen such bad game design since 2004"

totalbiscuit liked new doom gameplay a LOT apparently. idk. i've been turned off to games since devs realised they can splurge out nothing but undisguised fetchquests and the masses will still buy them. it does mean that "story based" games have been able to take off because audiences are so segregated now, they know audiences won't expect a bit of everything so they can instead focus on making a tight story/adventure and cater to their audience as for squenix... i wonder if it will take 4 minutes to kill the first group of soldiers when you come off the train for the first time in Midgar? i wonder how many optional fetchquests Wutai Monster Hunting Outpost will have? (to be fair i would play this) i wonder what autistic NPC they will get to follow you around the entire course of the game so that you always have a new recipe to cook for them? There's a reason most of the japanese games I've played lately are on the 3DS. I dislike the trend of being somewhere in between classic jrpgs and western action games.

Long long did it take for you guys to finish the game completely? I mean, just follow the main story line and do a bit of adventure here and there.

i've gotten older and these designs aren't anywhere near as appealing as they would have been 8 years ago. but most of all, the font they choose after all this time, is some version of Century Gothic, some modern-ish looking font used for basically everything. haha.
