And everyone in that weird middle America could give two shits about a prince who might be part god or something(?) showing up to order food at a diner. Lol... Not to mention there's an entire sidequest for getting toppings for cup noodles. The dialogue is just a hilarious commercial. The plot is incredibly hard to understand even with all the movies/DLC content, I had to go read a bunch of background stuff to understand what happened. I did appreciate the complexity of the villain in this game though. To be honest, I sort of loved the Cup of Noodles bullshit in the game. It was so stupid and over the top it felt like weird protest art. Much like the battle in Smallvill in Man of Steel(a deeply flawed movie that I like for no good reason). All the product placement gets destroyed, including the villains throwing a Uhaul truck at Army Gunship. It makes me laugh every time I see it.

Honestly while the main story was a bit lacking, I really enjoyed my time playing FFXV. I might even get it on PC to play it again with better gfx
You can really tell what areas they worked hard on because certain things were really polished/well done (the world was great, some of the side stuff like fishing and driving was great too). Unfortunately it definitely feels like a rushed game because certain areas were also very lacking. It's a good sign for the series going forward if they can re-implement some of the good things a bit easier, and then focus on a better overall story along with solid character development.

Curious if anyone that played it around when it came out (like myself) had any comments on the current state of the game and what they've added? They really seem to be pimping the fact that the PC release has tons of new stuff, I'm assuming DLC (free or otherwise?) that was released over the last year or so on console. I doubt I'd buy the PC version but I'd probably pick up my PS4 save back up if there was enough new side content to experience.

There is apparently a rich backstory referencing ancient Greek tragedies that was left largely unexplained. Some players were able to piece it together from exploring the pitioss dungeon, the plot is summarised here and here

They released high texture packs up to 4k and a bunch of special nividia graphics tech. Otherwise it has mission packs for the companions and a multiplayer dlc pack all paid but free on the pc version.

despite how crap the game was on release, i still believe somnus is one of the best tracks in ff history. got to hear it at distant worlds live - so many nerd chills.

Borderless window is here. rejoice
after playing through the story and reading that its actualy a greek trajety with japanese people set in the american midwest to the tune of florance and the machines stand by me I think its a really good story. there are some hiccups and you can see the dev hell it went through but all in all its a pretty solid FF and shows a lot of promise for the future ala ACO.

Hajime Tabata has left SE. Seems to be pulling a Hideo Kojima.

So I've owned this game since release and played it for one or two hours. The combat turned me off and it felt slow. Anyway, I installed it again and started playing and I am actually enjoying it this time around (no idea why). Anyone have any tips or things of note to pass on? For example, there have been certain items that are only obtainable at certain parts of the story in other FF games or things like that. Are there things I should watch out for to make a playthrough more fun or special?

Do not do this until you've done everything in the world you want to do before because after this the game moves into the content that was made before the current iteration and you won't be coming back.
There are quests for specific items you need for cid to upgrade weapons to the next level. Look up these items and make sure never to sell anything that may somehow be worthwhile. Ie if you have 10 of them you can sell them but if you just got the one thing be sure to google if its important somehow.
Spell crafting is hilariously broken, experiment with different items to add and a calculator to find out what will do tons of damage.
Remember that nothing in FF 15 actualy makes sense and the lore is an incoherent mess thats ultimatly unexplainable. Its like jazz just try to enjoy the notes.

Sounds like I'm in for a ride haha. Thanks for the info!

One last hurrah for a game that took over a decade to create, and less than two years to leave behind.
Over two years have passed since the release of Final Fantasy XV at the end of November 2018. Square Enix has continued to actively support the game with updates and DLC, but apparently, it’s time to turn the last page.
The publisher announced today that it will host a “final” Active Time Report broadcast a week from now, on Tuesday, March 26. It will be hosted by global brand director Akio Ofuji and Episode Ardyn director Takefumi Terada.
The livestream promises news on updates to the game, more info on the novel The Dawn of the Future (which is said to deliver that possible happy ending promised by former director Hajime Tabata), and the latest details and gameplay of the last DLC Episode Ardyn.
The show will begin at 8:00 PM Japan Time, translating into 11:00 GMT, 7:00 AM EDT, and 4:00 AM PDT.
You can find the embed for the stream below.
If you want to see more of Episode Ardyn, you can enjoy some gameplay showing his deadly moves, more information and the first screenshots, alongside the moving anime prologue released by Square Enix a few weeks ago.
The DLC will launch March 26 for PS4, Xbox One, and PC. Final Fantasy XV is currently available for PS4, Xbox One, and PC.

Might fire it up again after to try and finish the game fully. Haven't unlocked the hard-mode dungeons yet with the keys, but I did beat adamantoise and so on, so I can definitely take a decent stab at it.
