prime does a special thing where you can get 20% off new releases, but idk if we're close enough to "new" that its still in effect. that's the best i found, though a dude upthread called me a cheap bastard for looking for a deal. on the other hand, looks like used copies are starting to circulate for around $40, though you might have to wait a couple weeks for shipping.

Guys i have a serious question. On the ps4, are there long loading times?
Its christmas deal and i will most likely buy it if the loading times are decent. To give a comparison, witcher 3 loading times were under the belt(they were terrible, so bad that i dont want to play the game)

edit: Ok I just googled. The loading times seems to be quite long here so i wont buy this game lol, stupid ps4 shit machine.

I honestly haven't been bothered by loading times because I don't fast travel very often. That's the one place when I really notice it. If you avoid fast traveling (which I recommend anyway) it's not that bad. I remember hearing that complaint a lot before I bought it and now that you've brought it up again I can honestly say it's not that bad. Certainly not to the point where it should turn you off to a whole game. It's not like Skyrim or something where you're loading into and out of every single cave or town or house or anything like that. Load times are long when they happen, but infrequent.

I'm used to playing games on PC off an SSD and I wasn't bothered by any of the load times in FFXV on PS4 with a regular HDD. Sometimes the screen looks frozen (but the game clock is still ticking) while accessing save/load functionality, but it's not a big deal.

Just bought a PS4! Really enjoying this game so far, I'm in Chapter 3. I wanted to ask you guys if there are important talents i should go for right away with my IP, as well as what spells should I craft? (I'm scared to waste mats, I really hate synthesizing upgrades/spells, its why I hated the equipment system in XIII)

A few of the exploration upgrades pay for themselves fairly quickly: gaining AP while driving, gaining AP while riding a chocobo, gaining AP while camping. Regroup (Ignis's alternate level 1 technique) is a great heal and saves consumables when they're scarce in the early-game sections. Enhancement and Overwhelm (also Ignis techniques) are also really good; the latter is one of the best single-target DPS techniques in the game until you can break damage limits. Other than that, you can't really go wrong with just spending AP on things that fill in gaps depending on your playstyle. I filled out most of Noctis's combat grid before spending elsewhere.

For magic, I didn't need anything more than Dualcast until post-game. You can buy Sheep's Milk from the car to use as the catalyst.

40 hours in and I feel sad knowing that the game has the potential to have been a straight-up masterpiece with maybe another year of well-directed development. So many opportunities for Tales-level character development as well as a chance to tailor player experiences based on conversation/action choices too. The next-gen FF experience does look promising though.
Such a shame. Oh well, about 5-10 more hours before I sell it back on amazon.

yea i tried but Cid didn't appear to be in the quest-mode, just casual talk...

well i might have traded it in, i mean i got the dragon lance upgraded from Cid, might have been the same time that I got the sword traded in? however shouldn't this appear on my quest list as well if the sword is getting upgraded by Cid?

Yea I've been sleeping in the Lestallum inn for the sweet 1.5x EXP gain. But I haven't heard anything from Cid. Apparently AFTER the recent patch, you CAN sell upgradable weapons. I've tried to sell my Drain Lance II and it indeed let me. So perhaps I might have accidentally sold my Engine Blade 1 after all.

finished the story. there's a solid amount to do in post-game, so i think overall game did not disappoint. a lot of things were done well like the 4 main characters' stories. weak spot is the story... definitely felt like it was abridged which led to it being kind of hard to figure out what was going on, and the last half felt kinda rushed (except for ch13, eww).

seems like a lot of stuff didn't make the final cut - even looking at the omen trailer which came out a few months before release, there's a lot of stuff there that doesn't appear in the game. hopefully there will be a lot of DLC that leverages the unused content/assets.

solid 8/10 with potential to go higher imo.
