not to say that some dota champ's mechanics aren't awesome (i love seeing puck and ta play, and any hero with micromanagement clearly gets the mechanics awards) but there are far more right click and win heroes in dota than there are in LoL edit: and if u really want examples since i sometimes just talk out my ass, here ya go sven, huskar, lycan, juggernaut, bloodseeker, luna, clinkz, rikimaru, skele king, spectre, pa all (and im sure there are more) are dependant more on PLAYER DECISION than 'mechanics' | ||

For the most part I look at ranged DPS (the main category of "carries") and think of them as counterweights to AP heroes (prevent pure MR stack disasters) and closers - if they get ahead, they can end the game. And the idea of the game is to try to get them to close out games. But right now there is a beautiful balance between tanks and ranged DPS that makes it so whoever is good will tilt the game in their favor. In this way I find the balance in the fotm (back to pretty normal CC + ranged carry + tanky stuff) quite wonderful, although who knows how long it'll last. | ||

I put Twitch into that category because of his ult being able to kill an entire team in 3 seconds from halfway across the screen. It's preventable, yes, and there are bad matchups for him, but a farmed twitch or even corki is a really, really scary thing. | ||

Looks like a decent game if you get to know it.. but Its hard to see things for me, where LoL is really cartoony, and there for very clear Never played dota so no comment | ||

Get a friend to play with; one member wrote an excellent introductory guide that covers almost all fundamentals. Due to the different mechanics(?) of HoN, there will be much to get used to. | ||

in all honesty, i think its this thread and liquidparty thats been keeping me hooked on LoL i really fucking miss alot of things about dota, but i cant bring myself to go back since there are so many great ppl/players here that i really want to get better at this game, and that never really happened to me with dota. i had ppl i aspired to be like (kuroky has always been and will always be my hero) but i never had as great interaction with other players as i do with LoL's tl group | ||

I think the carry effect in those two games are just different. In DotA/HoN usually one hero carries, and he carries hard, maybe harder then anything in LoL, but the reason is I think is that in LoL everybody can carry and often will. In Dota/HoN the other 4 make it their only goal to protect their carry, thus making him stand out way more then in LoL where everybody does his part in damage. Their both fine game and play out pretty differently, which is good because we don't need another modern DotA clone, that's what HoN is for, which is also a good thing. Though I have to agree that the balance in LoL is compromised because Riots main goal will always be selling more heroes and skins, and you only sell new heroes if they are OP at the beginning, just look at Urgoth, I bet almost nobody bought him with riot points or bought any skins for him, but this is Riots business decisions which is fine, since after all the game is free if you chose it to be, which I appreciate since I stopped playing moba games seriously and I take a bit of unbalance in a 5v5 team game since one hero only is 10% of a game and usually can be overcome by good decision making and skill. TO ANOTHER TOPIC. I wanted to buy Ezreal since he doesn't get banned anymore, but now I kinda got discouraged by some of the posts here, is he really that bad now? | ||
