Anyways on to the topic of FF14, I'm signed up for beta and will likely at least give it a shot. I'm not that against Final Fantasy games, I actually like them a lot. I liked FF13 for example, which many people did not, I just couldnt stand FFXI though. | ||

It's essentially a sequel to 11 rather than a reinnovation, so it has all the same limitations and downsides as 11. The one exception is soloing is more viable in 14, but he wasn't winning me over with his description (note that I never played 11). | ||

I liked FF13 for example, which many people did not, I just couldnt stand FFXI though. Basically all the 'flaws' you listed are the exact reasons why people play FF11 over WoW. The "grind" you refer to essentially makes the game never ending. No body is rushing to level 70 like in WoW where you can get to 70 in less than 2 weeks. While in FFXI, you could play a full year and never reach level 70 (unless you're really focused) because theres so much stuff to explore. Everything is very hard to get in FF11. And your complaint about it being impossible to solo in is absolutely correct. You only solo from levels 1-10 and this soloing range is the exact part final fantasy players absolutely hate. But at level 10, you can finally move on the party leveling part which is where the fun begins That being said, I liked both for different reasons. edit - I didn't realize people complained about the art and the environment. I think its pretty obvious its not a cartoon land like WoW is. Complaining about the art in FFXI is kind of silly IMO, obviously its based on taste. Im sure anybody who enjoyed the final fantasy series on console would be impressed with the art work. | ||

The game was so enjoyable to play. The grind/party system was so much fun. You would find a group and single pull mobs to get exp. It's like every mob you killed was a mini boss. It was so much nicer being able to sit in a spot with a group and kill mobs. Definitely didn't seem like a chore. The job system and world were beyond amazing as well. I definitely can't wait for FF14. | ||
