Remember, I played Holland, had a pretty good start and 3 city states. And he didnt even have a lot of wonders. India built most of them, no biggie cause India is weak. Seriously, hooooow. I would feel comfortable in such a position regardless of what the score says.

I donno about Deity because I only play on Immortal, but honestly you don't need the highest score to win the game. Take this game I played on the other day, for example: ![]() Rome was constantly having 3 times my score and many times my size, but I still beat him in science. It's not because I played brilliantly (I did not), but that the AI does not know how to play this game. My 900 bpt isn't even good. In fact, Rome consistently had at least twice my bpt all game. ![]() At the end, the AI does not know how to beeline techs nor do they play to win. I bet they just randomly pick something to tech every time. I didn't even play very well that game. I couldn't grow my capital very well and ended up getting stuck at 20ish pop (with tradition start).

But I've been trying to get into civ 5 lately. For some reason every game feels way longer.

It was settled as soon as I declared war on him. It was just to keep some of the tiles so the CSs won't cut off the trade route to Rome in the future. I have CB + Church Property, so I don't mind spamming cities (plus I got wayyyy too much happiness already). SOS: I need to know this ASAP. Is there a way to find out when a particular DOF will expire? I want to kill this Swedish "friend" here because he got tons of wonders and my military adviser told me the Swedish units look lonely, but we still have a dof The notification log didn't help because it only goes back ~20 turns. On February 10 2013 12:22 EchOne wrote: Noob question: does Ethiopia's UA Spirit of Adwa count puppet cities towards empires' city counts? EDIT: fuck it I am going in. ![]() I am probably going to be fine. I am ahead in military and (likely) equal or slightly ahead in tech. I have separated the continent into two halves. Both Sweden and Ethiopia are very weak. Japan hates me, but every other player hates Japan to death. My only worry is Elizabeth who is on my southwest...... I'll kill Sweden first (screw DOF), get his Great Wall, then kill Ethiopia and get his Notre Dome, Pyrimids, and other goodies (also get rid of his silly religion so everyone will now do the yin-yang thing).

I just played this fantastically fun game as Ethiopia with Honor + Autocracy and won with domination victory. I made it into a LP in case you are bored ![]() Haile Selassie the Terrible - http://imgur.com/a/cjgJs (also included: a bug in the game!) I originally wanted to do Gandhi the Terrible - but it was proven to me too hard for me to do on Immortal.

I originally wanted to do Gandhi the Terrible - but it was proven to me too hard for me to do on Immortal. Man, what a slog of a game. That's a long way to go for domination. In my current game, everyone except for the Incans and me warred constantly. Unfortunately, I was stuck in a corner and had room for only 4 good cities (I don't like building garbage cities unless to get access to resources due to happy cap problems). The damned Incans, on the other hand, had tons of room and settled like 1/3 or more of the continent (pangaea). Fortunately, my four core cities are really awesome (particularly the capital -- salt starts are OP) and I was able to leap out to a large lead early and conquer my Russian and Spanish neighbors to stay ahead of the massive Incan empire. I'm just happily teching to bombers and tanks, and sitting on a war chest of like 13000 gold. Oh, I also have Big Ben, and the gold buy bonuses in the commerce and autocracy trees, which let me buy units with a 73% combined discount. Yeah, I'm gonna insta-build a really big army soon.

What I probably could have done is to build up a navy instead. Both the Spanish and Mongolian capitals were coastal, so I could just launch some sneak attacks and win that way (I had several coastal cities from Attila). But I chose not to play like that because I thought pushing methodologically against the Mongols by land was more fun and probably safer.

Naval warfare is pretty safe all things considered, particularly if you load up some aircraft carriers. Basically, if you make your army heavy on ranged units, you're basically guaranteed to stomp the AI because it isn't very good at positioning. All it can do is throw a mass of shit at you. Once you get an air force, it's basically all over.
