So fucking addictive. The OCC thing is easier in BNW with trader routes. Or you can play Venice, and while a hypercube it may not be entertaining as fuck it is. Venice is fun, but it's kinda start-dependent. You need a good production capital to really make it work given all of the shit that you need to build there. You also need to have city-states available (preferably non-cultural and non-mercantile) to buy so that you can run food to your capital. Equally as important, you kinda need the AI to leave you to your own devices until the modern age. Venice doesn't really come into its own until it has 12+ overseas trade routes going along with key social policies that reduce the cost of goldbuying. It takes some time to get to this point, which is an iffy proposition if you're playing on immortal/deity and have the wrong neighbors. If you do end up in a war, you better have a strong navy that can protect your trade routes, or you're probably boned. The other problem with Venice is that it is really prone to getting culture-raped. You have to be really careful about which ideology that you pick. Of course, you can always pick autocracy and go conquer everyone.

And Great works are weak early on but very important late game to maintaining your empires happiness by producing tourism. I always make great works if I have the slots, otherwise you will e in trouble in the industrial era.

I just got a Great Writer and I'm unsure if I should culture bomb or create a great work. Excess happiness is your happiness above 0. There is a policy in Rationalism that gives science based on excess happiness. You usually do a great work if you aim for culture victory, otherwise you're better bulbing him to get through rationalism as fast as possible assuming it's a big enough bulb (otherwise the +2 culture from the great work might be better). The strength of the bomb is based on your culture output at the birth of the great artist. A common strategy is to get as fast as possible to renaissance so that it unlocks rationalism and then bomb an artist to get secularism in record times (around T125). Many will research acoustics to reach renaissance because its only requirement is education which you need fast anyway.

That or there are some bonus not included in the description of the route. I've never really paid attention to trade routes calculations.

Second question: In games with multiple players on one team, will city connections between a Player 1 city and Player 2's capital generate gold for one, both, or neither side?
