I deferred a year after I was accepted to law school (in the U.S.). At least where I went to school at least 1/4 of the incoming class would typically opt to defer a year. Deferrals were almost always granted as long as you had a decent reason for requesting the deferral (e.g., you wanted to publish a paper or finish serving as an aide for a Senator). If I had been in Stephano's shoes and requested a deferral to play SC2, they definitely would have granted it -- it's all how you frame the request that counts. I'm not saying that he plans to do this, but just that this may be an option for him. you don't have to be accepted in university in France. anyone (with the proper level of education) can register and go, it's basically free of charge, except a smal amount for administrative purpose. but since everybody can go in first year, some field (like medicine) that have a limited number of spots in 2nd year have an incredibly high failing rate (something like 90% failure in first year). So if you go to medicine, you have to study really hard, all year, no time for playing at all. And to answer your question, almost nobody take a free year before university in France, at least in my field (physics engineering, then phD)

177 actually for most studies.

The thing is it's definitely a smurf account and there are not a lot of zergs in the world able to go up so high in the ladder with that ratio. EDIT: It's a bit off topic and just a personnal feeling which is not backed up by any solid facts, but reading the Millenium website almost everyday, I have the feeling that something might happen between Mill & Stephano after IPL4. Again, nothing solid here, just a feeling which grows stronger and stronger.
Let's investigate mate !
On the millenium website, in their post about the week of Stephano, i don't know if it's a spoil or what about his future in Millenium. - past competition : Ironsquid / EG Master's Cup - upcomming competition ; IPL4 / HP Trophy 2v2
So no EG Master's Cup anymore ? tbh, pretty sure he played a match against Empire this week for EG Cup, and it's also said that he is still in US waiting for IPL4. (:

I never thought it was his account, i think he just borrowed for some time, you can see that he stopped playing in this account as soon he started playing again on his main account.

Haha, yes, we are Estonian.
This was literally a case of "speak 'friend' " ^^
As for Tentaculat, I think there are now 2 clear points of data to suggest it's not Stephano. So, Stephano is still not practicing?
Jinro is an X-COM fan (tentaculat is from there), perhaps he is considering a switch. Macro is his forte and terran isn't exactly the macro race at the moment.

couldn't stephano share an acount with a high master he met, and could only use it so train hidden from opponents hence why a replay of the guy would show different shortcuts or playstyle
or someone give me the name of the progamers that hide behind XǂTENTACULAT and PANDEMONIUM

I have been watching Grubby and Demuslim stream lately and when they open their friends list I see MillStephano online, busy, and in game frequently...
Grubby was even talking to Stephano for a bit during one of his streams.
Edit: Steph just posted on his twitter he hasn't been streaming because he hasn't been home and that he will stream plenty after IPL! Hell yea!
|
IPL4... We are all gonna fear for his SC2 carreer choice. More than him :p! Gogo Stephano! Win IPL4!
|
Stephano just put his stream up.
He's leaving tomorrow for Vegas. Doesn't look like a lot of time for practice.

Stephano forfeits his match against MMA. ( see Ironsquid thread )
Well, i'm not too surprised, i was just waiting confirmation tomorrow :s.
edit : I almost forgot, drama incoming.

stephano declared as forfeited in Iron Squid match against MMA due to constant delay of the match by stephano
http://www.ironsquid.tv/iron-squid-pool-c-stephano-forfeits-vs-mma
now i know, he really is only in for the money and doesn't care about the game anymore, he will just take some more money from the small EU tourneys he's still not banned and end everything in september to pursue his study
can't blame him, it's not such a stupid decision, you have to think about the future, even great success in esport can't make sure you'll have enough to live nicely till old age, and there's a limited time for one to learn and get a job still, disappointing, so much potential :/

Non-live tournaments.....meh....
Its all about streams and stage! I think at this point he's busy enough with travel and live play that he doesn't have enough space in his life to care for tournaments he plays from home.
He knows where his bread is buttered. He also knows what counts.... and frankly no one is going to care one way or another if Stephano or MMA beats the other in cross server play.

this
stephano MMA cross server is almost worthless imo, ironsquid were naive to think their structure could work well and this was always going to happen with someone, just happened to be stephano for whatever reason, but the haters will run a mile with this one which is sad to see

Stephano MMA was game 4, pretty clear that he lost against Jjackji so he had no chance to advance and since he was supposed to play around the same time he played against Alive in NASL Qualifier, he was probably lagging too much to have a chance against someone like MMA ( and even more with his crappy ZvT of early March ).
Don't want to find him excuses but lag + MMA + no chance to advance = forfeit ( again i'm not ok with that but we all know Stephano and i still hope that he will continue Sc2 ).
|
The story isn't MMA.... its The Beatles! Can't get the Beatles on Grooveshark
His stream is more content than all but the best tournaments.

My goodness... twitchtv is so frustrating T.T
Many streams I go on I am randomly banned from the chat on every account on every computer in my house. I have never been banned by mods on any chat...
Last time Stephano streamed chat was working just fine, today I go on and I'm banned from everywhere...
Anybody else have this problem?

He didn't forfeit Iron Squid. They forfeited him because he failed to show up for the match repeatedly. Though I dislike the group elimination format precisely because it results in games where players with no stakes in winning have to play, I think the barest of courtesy is to tell the organizer that you're FFing.

I agree with everything you say, although at the same time, if you have no chance and you're playing under tough circumstances, why not just view it as practice? It's not like he gets to play against an MMA every day. Practice an all in build; you can be done in 20 minutes and still meet your commitments. He plays on ladder even though there's nothing on the line -- why not play a match against an MMA if there's nothing on the line? What is he scared of -- losing? If the game is meaningless, why would losing be an issue (even if you have lag)? Maybe it's just too much of a hassle to schedule the game and he was like f' it. I feel like that's the only way this makes sense.
Edit: The poster above me makes a good point, although it seems like Stephano was giving MMA the run around. Who knows? Probably not worthwhile to speculate.
