Don't want to find him excuses but lag + MMA + no chance to advance = forfeit ( again i'm not ok with that but we all know Stephano and i still hope that he will continue Sc2 ).
He didn't forfeit Iron Squid. They forfeited him because he failed to show up for the match repeatedly. Though I dislike the group elimination format precisely because it results in games where players with no stakes in winning have to play, I think the barest of courtesy is to tell the organizer that you're FFing.
I don't see how people just ignore this. As much as we want a foreigner hero, this is not the way to do it. Naniwa already demonstrated this. One cannot only play "meaningful matches", whatever that misnomer is taken to mean.
If we keep this up, we will never grow into a real sport. Does anyone else remember that NBA used to be a minor league, with almost no viewers, very little money and in danger of being eclipsed by college basketball? Well, in 1962, the Philadelphia Warriors played the knicks, one team was qualified, the other was relegated, not even standings mattered. There were barely any people in attendance (4k) with no television or press and the game played away from home for both teams. On this day, when nothing mattered, Wilt Chamberlain decided to pull off the most amazing individual performance in recorded basketball history, scoring 100 points. He rose above not only his contemporaries but everyone else in the sport. Why? Because he gave his all in every single game, whether it mattered or not. And there are few stories more inspiring and more often retold in basketball history that Chamberlains road to those 100 points. If we want SC2 to grow, we need our heroes. And forfeiting does not a hero make.

It will never be a "real" sport, if the results of online cross-server play are equivalent to live stage play.
Stephano is just a trail blazer in protesting that

Stephano playing thorzain off stream for EGMC, so he still play clanwar :>, just beaiting Sjow 2-1 for HP Trophy.

I completely disagree with the blind fanaticism of a player, I honestly find it fucked up, I didn't like what naniwa did, I'm not going to look for excuses to support the player I appreciate the most, you can find all the excuses you want, watching stephano stream and seeing Millenium boss and the SC2 manager talk to him they seem to share my opinion, he needs to realize it's not just about him, you are screwing viewers, the tournament, other players, your team.
And no I didn't become a hater, I'm still a fan, not a stupid one.

Yeah he pretty fucked up even if he knew he was out it was still a good way to practice vs one of the best player in the world

What the hell Stephano? He's got talent like a boss, but the mentality of a child. I'm really disappointed.

I used to be Stephano fan, even before ipl3, but not anymore, because he is just mercenary who cares only about money. TT
|
Disappointing to see. I cannot defend Stephano forfeiting unless he has connection issues.

if he only cared about money he would have played

I don't even have words to describe how I'm disappointed. I've always defended Stephano, because I liked his personality and his play. But he is pushing this too far for me. This umpteenth time is just a huge "fuck you I don't care" to his fans, organizers, players, managers, etc...
In the end, haters were not that wrong :-/

Stephano was never the type that really gave a fuck. That's why he is a genius... He's an amazing player who has many options and he's been taking the option he feels are right for him. He didn't start playing sc2 to please you guys... He did it because he realized he was talented and it's a way to make money...
Stephano is a great player and will always be one of my favorite.

Maybe he's busy preparing for IPL4

Agreed :-).

Stephano seems to be making a habit of quitting when things get difficult or inconvenient. He will never be successful in medical school with such attributes. I certainly don't want him to be my doctor. He might walk out on me to service a richer patient with a more treatable medical condition.

Stephano is a genius because he is irresponsible. The stench of Orwellian doublespeak is strong in this thread.

Like me. I don't care much about this, because I don't really see it as a big deal. Sure, he could have let the organizers know something, but it's not the end of the world that he didn't.
