IdrA's stream chat brought this up but I think it's worth saying here - Stephano is barely practicing right now. I don't know what's going on with him in the UK, but this isn't looking good. He lost in MLG because - in his own words - he didn't practice that much before the tournament, and right now he's Rank 100+ on EU and hasn't played a single game in three days.
Epic mind games with a different account? I don't know, but with the line-up at IPL, I don't think he's going to get away with not practicing before the tournament this time.

How long has he been the "best zerg in the world"? DRG just won the GSL awhile ago, even if Stephano is the best zerg now, it isn't "a god damn long time" lol Frankly, I dont give a f**k about the fact that he is, like me, french, and I dont really like the guy, but as a player, he clearly is "the one", that one non-korean kid, that clearly has the potential to stomp some koreans, and he already does while training in EU and not even devoting that much time to it. So yeah, saying that he's the best zerg doesnt make sense (yet, let him go to Korea I think many would be surprised, question is does he want to go), but I can understand the guys that over hype Stephano, because his level of play is clearly Code S, and he never trained with koreans, it is impressive and he might be the next best zerg on the planet if he trains hard and evolves. I do also see he has a huge potential, he is really really good. But people seriously need to stop over hyping, there is a huge difference between potentially the best and actually being the best. I guess for people who wants to see foreigners winning against koreans, then yea, stephano is probably one of the few who can do it consistently in foreign tournaments. Why exactly do people need to stop hyping? What is so bad about calling your favorite player best player in the world? People do it all the time, in every sport I know. And as an example in sc2, many were calling DRG best zerg in the world after he had won a few games in the GOM team league. He had not won a single tournament, was not even in code A, yet he was hyped like crazy. And strangely noone was butthurt about it like now with Stephano. because you don't have to hype the player to be the best player to show how much you love him and how much potential you see in him. what's next? Stephano is the best zerg in the whole fricking universe in all dimensions across time and space above all possiblity? lol These fans are just like those who hyped like spanishiwa like he was Code S level zerg back then.
and DRG wasn't called the best zerg back then, everyone just expected him to do really well in Code S because he was the terran killer and code S was T heaven, yet he couldn't get into Code S. Nestea had always been called the best zerg all those times when he won the GSLs, read some interviews.

Stephano wouldn't play from a smurf account I think; so I dunno what's up, I don't think he has played more than 30 games since MLG, and if he doesn't practice this week I fear that he will get crushed @ IPL4

He's young and prefer to have fun with bling than practice, that's all, he just can't change his mind and focus more on the game.
If he stops the game to begin university, he's fine, if he can play one more year at Starcraft 2, being successful while playing 3-4 hours a day, he's fine, but he will not play 10hours a day just to have more chance to continue his career in Sc2 even if he knows that IPL4 is the most important tournament for his future in Sc2.

wrong. He streamed for about 3 hours everyday when he was in korea, so that alone are much more than 2-3 games, + he said in several interviews that he practiced for 8 hours a day in korea because he had nothing else to do. The last thing is a bit strange since he also said that he didn't have a second korean account and the one account he used didn't really have any games played on besides the streamed ones, but either way, it was more than 2-3 games a day

Obviously I mind as a Stephano fan, but I don't feel the need to list arguments why this is not true in the Idra fanclub, because I know how much fun it is to glorify a player in his fanclub.

Well, i know it's really frustrating as a Stephano's fan but he is with bling and enjoy the life in england. The week before MLG he was also with Bling, so it's totally Bling's fault ! :>
More seriously, he said in his interview with Slasher that he doesn't need to practice a lot to keep playing at his real level, the disappoinement from MLG does not come from a lack of practice but too much confidence versus Polt and Inori.
And look at Idra, he's playing so much games per day, that does not make him better than Stephano ( just take Idra as an example because i know he's playing a lot, no offense here ).

he's young and has a lot of money what do you expect?
it looks like he is done with sc2 tbh, which is a shame but understandable, he's probably made his mind up about studying > gaming and hence isn't practicing for IPL as it doesn't matter either way to him - if he wins he wins if he loses so what

This reminds me of Creolophus in the wc3 days with 4 kings. A fantastic norwegian night elf that came back after 2 months of inactivity (also due to studies) to win both the Blizzard Invitational and some other tournament. He was an amazing night elf and stephano is an even more amazing zerg!

Maybe he has already made his decision and is soon to quit. His recent twitter messages sure sound like he's already preparing for his studies. Whether he quit's or not he sure as hell has made some huge impact on the scene in the short time he had.

Does anyone know how common it is for students to defer a year after being accepted to a university in France? I deferred a year after I was accepted to law school (in the U.S.). At least where I went to school at least 1/4 of the incoming class would typically opt to defer a year. Deferrals were almost always granted as long as you had a decent reason for requesting the deferral (e.g., you wanted to publish a paper or finish serving as an aide for a Senator). If I had been in Stephano's shoes and requested a deferral to play SC2, they definitely would have granted it -- it's all how you frame the request that counts. I'm not saying that he plans to do this, but just that this may be an option for him.
