I quite enjoyed the segue into Japanese literature, especially considering the "What Are You Reading Thread" has degenerated (irrecoverably?) into pseudo-intellectual philosophizing and masturbatory self-aggrandizement.
Those you you who haven't already should check out the first four episodes of Aoi Bungaku.
And those of you who haven't already should check out the books and short stories that Aoi Bungaku is based on.

Dood, I told you to read Norwegian Wood, Sputnik Sweetheart and Hardboiled Wonderland already at the same time I told you to read Wind-up Chronicle.
Edit: As for Aoi Bungaku, as godly as Ningen Shikkaku is the other stories are all worth it and really good. Cheep is just a big hater for the sake of hating.
Just like some people start watching Ecchi/Harem/Comedy/Moe stuff and then get mad because there's no real plot/character development and the episodes consist mostly out of fanservice. Maybe you can now understand why not everyone likes action stuff like Shingeki no Kyojin. I'm not saying I hate action anime, but I don't find Shingeki no Kyojin enjoyable either.
I think it was the concept of Shingeki that drew a lot of the fan's attention at first.
Im not much of a action-buff either. But when I saw Shingeki I thought it was really original and had an interesting world. Then later you start to realize the pacing is so horribly slow. It doesnt matter if it was intentional or not, but I rather not wait 1 week for 20 minutes of recaps and rehashing of how each character feels.
I thought maybe if I just read ahead with the manga then the anticipation (and let down) of the weekly eps wouldnt be as disappointing, I was wrong. Seems like the manga isnt even far ahead from the anime at this point. And it moves just as slow.
as much as I don't like snk, I do like some of the music, especially the two you linked. You're better off not knowing what they're singing in "Vogel im Käfig" though. I didn't even understand it myself until I looked it up

I can imagine how hard i would cringe if an anime opening had lyrics in spanish

Good thing it isn't my native language.
no it isn't the same. I can somewhat relate to how you feel. It's much worse in german in this particular case because the woman in question doesn't understand a single word of german to begin with (I'd guess?).
I'm somewhat able to understand what they're singing in TWGOK's OPs if someone hits me and says "hey dude, that's english". You get this aaaaaah you're right. Hear this? kind of feeling and it's understandable if you get used to it because the singer in question at least has a slight idea about what she's singing. In "Vogel im Käfig" you can get poked as much as you want and you'd still sit there thinking "what? Really? That's supposed to be german? I don't understand a single word"
I literally just listened to it with the lyrics opened in another tab and I still wasn't able to make out what she's singing despite knowing what it's supposed to be. Except for the word "hoffentlich", which means hopefully. That one's understandable if you know it's comming.
