I feel exactly the same about that, but I also made the mistake of not waiting long enough. 2 months worked but still too soon.

How is the relationship between hellsing and hellsing ultimate? Ultimate follows manga, or...?

Didn't watch the hellsing "original" series, but yes
hellsing ultimate follows the manga the regular hellsing was airing WHILE the manga was serialized, so they made up their own arc. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Hellsing_episodes#Hellsing see where it says "(Corresponding Manga Story : None)"

Which is pretty much the case with FMA,
Yea it seems people who watched Brotherhood right after FMA didnt appreciate it to much. I guess like Sent mentioned you can just wait and revisit, But I stronly suggest you revisit it.
Youll enjoy it more. Its how it was intended by the author. The original was a story the animators cooked up when material was running out and the author told them to stop using it after a certain point and make their own (because it would be fun to see.)

Brotherhood one of da best action movies with drama. Much better than the original FMA, I thought. Then again I watched 1 year ago, the only things I remember are very positive still.

I actually never watched brotherhood until very recently since I was reading the manga before the show even came out. It was kinda funny cause the Show ended maybe a month after manga did. FMA is by far my favorite manga. Brotherhood was good too. The manga was just a complete experience with everything done well.
It was just such a pleasure reading it. It truly lives to the title of Epic.

Both go in really different directions, so its not like one is a replacement for the other. I say that if you liked the original, and just recently watched it, take a break for a while, and then watch Brotherhood in like half a year or something. Treat them independently and form your own conclusion.
Honestly you have to watch brotherhood, it's just too good to pass up.

In all seriousness my biggest problem with Brotherhood is that it feels like both brothers (especially Ed) and the series as a whole lost quite a bit of their personality and got "dumbed down" and went to focus more on being oh-so-cool. Best example for that is Mustang. + Show Spoiler [offtopic ramble] +though in original I did feel that he needed more love.
I do not understand why they'd just fastforward where you start in Brotherhood too. It helped ruin the identity of the characters.
I can accept that they wanted to make the atmosphere a bit brighter but by completely dumbing down everything they just took away everything that made it one of my definite favourites and instead put it at an "okay" level, nice enough to watch but nothing special at all. Only thing Brotherhood has over original is no SUDDENTLY NAZI ZEPPELINS at the end. That's all imo.
Also + Show Spoiler +HUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUGHESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS. Why the fuck would they make him irrelevant in Brotherhood!? ;;
|
if you liked the first hellsing, i think it is no stretch to say that hellsing ultimate is a MUST. it outdoes the first series in every way imaginable.
waiting for the 10th and final release!
SUDDENTLY NAZI ZEPPELINS
LOL i know where they went when they were not needed in FMA brotherhood anymore xDDDD

i recently watched 5 cm/second and i gotta say.. am i the only that didnt love it? i dont see why there is so much praise towards this movie, its not that i thought it was BAD but i didnt think it was all that good either
+ Show Spoiler +the problem i have with it was how silly and pathetic (maybe not the best choice of words but something along those lines) the MC was when you really think about it. the whole story revolves around how he clings onto his childhood love and how those feelings affected his whole life mostly negatively.. but when you consider the thing he was clinging to was some childhood crush that he had when he was THIRTEEN its kinda silly (i dont even think 13 year olds even know wat love is).. its not like he was in a deep 5 year relationship or something like that meh, iono am i missing something? i mean wasnt the point of the movie to be 'realistic'? cuz if one of my friends was still being all depressed about some crush he had when he was a kid id smack him lol

It's not "maybe" poor choice of words. Your reasons are ridiculous, the movie is realistic enough really. It's okay to dislike something but really at least come up with legitimate reasons for it, not just you or anyone close to you apparently never ever having had real feelings for a person.

Yes if you look at the movie superficially like that and ignore the underlying themes then yeah it will look stupid. It is presented with a childhood lovestory, but the movie itself can apply to absolutely anyone. Most people are able to relate to the movie and understand that over time, many of the relationships you have now (friends, family, love) might not exist in the future. It is a realistic/pessimistic view which I could definitely relate with. It also has a solid soundtrack and stunning visuals.

Fullmetal Alchemist was the series that really kicked my mid- to late-teens anime binge into high gear. I'd been really into InuYasha long before Adult Swim started airing it, but I still remember being on the edge of my seat at the end of the first episode and thinking, "Whoa.... how long have I been like this?" I dove headfirst into discussions in Adult Swim's anime forum, and was a regular there for a couple years. In fact, some people there may still remember me (probably not for my contributions to actual discussions, but for my silly, outrageously gaudy signature, haha).

However, I think I felt similarly about the + Show Spoiler + and their implications for Amestrian alchemy. Maybe it would've been a bit different if it hadn't happened at the very end of an episode, but...... uh, really? Haha, oh well. It wasn't silly enough to significantly affect my overall opinion of the series, and it will likely remain as one of my favorites.

If I hadn't seen it a couple years ago, and were to watch it for the first time today, I could easily see myself not enjoying it as much, as I feel like I've become less tolerant of whiny, do-nothing characters. However, I don't think my positive opinion of the movie itself would be any different.

Does anyone know of any animes similar to Code Geass available to watch? Love intellectual, but cool and powerful character based animes.
