Is the original FMA better or is brotherhood better? I want to watch the show, but i don't think i have the time to watch al one hundred or so episodes in a row. I'll probably end up watching the other show eventually, but which one is better to start with?

I liked brotherhood much more. The original's ending was stupid IMO.

Ahaha, your friend trolled you. Angel Beats and Bakamonogatari. Ahaha. Huge collection indeed.

Brotherhood is better without doubt. Anyone that claims otherwise is just plain wrong.
Not going to go into details but lets just say that Brotherhood follows the manga unlike the original, Brotherhood provides an actual acceptable ending. It also has better art and has both cooler characters and more characters and the list goes on.

Brotherhood covers the whole manga from start to finish. FMA diverges at some point I forget which.
F/Z airs tonight in a few h!!! Let's hope for an awesome 1st ep. and a quick sub ^_^

Anyone with a differing opinion is wrong, yes.
I liked both adaptations so just pick whatever. Really enjoyed the first movie. I even dropped Brotherhood because it didn't offer anything above the manga for me.

I loved the first anime but Brotherhood makes a lot more sense in terms of story. I enjoyed the earlier single-episode story arcs of FMA though, which isn't available in Brotherhood.

The first FMA anime is the better one. It's shorter and it knows more what direction it wants to go. Brotherhood suffers from an inability to keep tone.
I would always recommend you watch the first FMA anime just because it's more solidly constructed but that opinion gets quikly drowned out by the purists. For some reason:
Literal copy of manga > better production
But i suppose it's the same as with books. People that read them seem to have a peculiar need to justify their read through. They love the work so they love the author so they see any deviation from the plot to be akin to raping the author.

Maybe I said too much, but regardless I preferred Brotherhood and I'm fairly confident that majority of people prefer it over the original.
Personally I just didn't see anything that would favour the original over Brotherhood. It's not that I didn't like the original back when it aired but Brotherhood just overshadowed it, given that I only started reading the manga as Brotherhood was airing.
I do generally think that works that follow the manga tend to be superior to the semi spin-offs.

Then there are people who like to go against the flow just because they think it's cool
As someone who never read the manga but watched both series I disagree, Brotherhood was a lot better for a few reasons. -Action sequences were a lot better (eg Mustang actually blew shit up, and didn't get soaked/have his little circle cut up each time he was about to do something) -Al wasn't only useful for being a shield for Ed when something exploded -The supporting cast had a lot more depth to them, the original was very Ed heavy, which is fair I suppose since he is the MC but meh, -Early episodes of Original are extremely drawn out.
I did think the original had a better ending though, but the way the plot got there didn't make too much sense and seemed quite forced.
Each series has its merits and I like them both, but Brotherhood is still the better between the two.

Hey guys so I was wondering if the manga TWGOK is good and kinda different from your usual harem manga ? The thing is TWGOK is probably great for your usual harem lover but harem genre is just so unapealing to me that I just skip everything that has that tag on it.
I despise the usual harem shows so much that I've only watched Ouran Host Club that i didnt find it that good and reading Nozoki Ana from the harem genre but I can see past it for obvious reasons

I would also recommend Ano Hana. http://myanimelist.net/anime/9989/Ano_Hi_Mita_Hana_no_Namae_wo_Bokutachi_wa_Mada_Shiranai
Please note: I only recently got into anime as of Fall 2010.

It's good, it's different from the usual harem manga but it's still a harem manga.
If I had to pinpoint why it's good/different/the same, it's because it feels like TWGOK has a lot more decisiveness in it. There's a clear goal in each of the stories and even the big arc it's in right now. Of course, that goal is clearing girls so it's still a harem manga.
