Love Actually
![[image loading]](http://s3.amazonaws.com/j6ufdkhsi/covers/139861_love_actually.jpg)
I liked it, especially when it was embracing absurdity (like I was annoyed by the “1 month later” ending which took it from that delicious light absurdity into the overly sentimental message dwelling. Just end on Christmas for god’s sake). Almost all of it was pretty fun though while still having touching moments, I didn’t mind that it was a bit indulgent. A romantic comedy that doesn't go by formula is very welcome.

* Dumb and Dumber. Amazing replay value - I still laugh even though I've seen every seen dozens of times.
* Harold and Kumar. I enjoyed just about everything in the movie. I love the adventures they go on!
* The Jerk, Planes Trains and Automobiles. Both are classic Steve Martin films.
* South Park: Bigger Longer and Uncut. My favorite cartoon series into a movie with some hilarious musicals!
* Team America. Another comedy with hilarious musicals.
* Naked Gun, Airplane. Back when there actually were good parodies rather than this "Scary Movie" crap.
* Don't be a Menace in South Central.... So many hilarious scenes and lines. It also inspired me to watch the blaxploitation movies it parodied from, which were excellent movies in their own right.
* Robin Hood: Men in Tights. I wish more people had seen this movie. For the longest time it was only available on VHS which makes me think it must have been underappreciated.
* National Lampoons Vacation. Mostly the original and the trip to Europe.
* Old School. By far my favorite movie starring Will Ferrell!
* Billy Madison, Happy Gilmore. Remember back when Adam Sandler movies were hilarious?
To be more specific, I'm looking for movies where the emphasis is on the comedic elements. Although I do enjoy action movies with good one-liners and the like, it isn't what I'm looking for here. Le Dîner de Cons, a French film, should be torrentable with subtitles, I highly recommend it.

Le Dîner de Cons is probably the funniest movie i've ever seen!! But ya gotta know french .. no comedies are translatable..

Moon 7/10 I expected more, but it still was an excellent thinking movie. I kept feeling like there should have been more suspense or twists somewhere, but there were little.
The Burbs 4/10 I just could not get into this movie.
Black Dynamite 7/10 A fun amusing movie with some well done action sequences too.

In every single way, surrogates was better than inception. (I'm just saying this to get you to watch it, but surrogates is at least on par with inception). It's about how the world develops ways for humans to communicate with robots, so then the entire world just plugs into robots and live their lives through their robots. Anyways, I just watched it because I'm interested in a technological singularity. I don't think a surrogate like world could ever happen because of this singularity. Surrogates: 7/10 Inception: 6.5/10
well i wathced that movie in cinema, sadly. the movie itself is fine, but its by far not cinema material. and that probably limited the success of the movie aswell.
funny enough, my last watched movie was actually inception, which i watched in hd like 2 weeks ago. honestly, i dont know why its hyped so much, its certainly a good film, but not the masterpiece people tend to make it. the idea behind it was great, granted, but other then that the movie itself didnt have any suprise element at it. i guess people rate it so high cause the ending is open and that leads to discussion, but hands down, if you watched the complete movie it was more then obvious that + Show Spoiler +the circle wont fall and he was trapped in his own dream. at least thats how i see it cause mr saito used exactly the same frases his wife used
shutter island on the other hand was a true masterpiece and somehow i feel like its underrated a shitton. however, its nice to see that di caprio matured and actually become a good actor instead of just a teenage girl fantasy

The Next Three Days
Very interesting and enjoyable movie. A different approach to an old concept.

Pretty good. I liked how the director decided to drop the action in favor of rising some very good ethical questions. Yet another movie after The Green Zone that questions war in Iraq. Definitely worth a watch. Screw that. I hate those movies. We KNOW what is wrong with the war in Iraq. It's about time we started supporting the guys over there until we can get them out instead of trying to be whistle blowers....as if there isn't enough people dissatisfied with the war over there.. Movies like The Hurt Locker are great in that respect. Show respect to the men fighting and dying over there, while also not glossing over the issues. Anything more is massively disrespectful to the guys over there, imo. It's not their problem, save the political crap for when we finally leave. It's a crap situation, don't make it worse. /rant..I HATE these kinds of movies.
Well, knowing that the war was started because of false/misinterpreted information kinda makes it hard to support anyone. People being sent to war for no reason to fight a non-existent cause?
Besides, this movie is NOT about the war per se. It's about events that led to it in the first place (based on facts).
Back to the new movies:
Faster
A very nice flick. The plot is fairly simple, but it's not a bad thing in case of this movie which is built upon its characters who are very interesting. I didn't expect much from this movie but was pleasantly surprised as it is a solid piece of filmmaking.
The Day The Earth Stood Still
Kinda re-watched it because there's been so many 'aliens gonna kill us all' movies recently that I forgot which one was about what. This one is pretty entertaining ecology manifesto, shown in a pleasant form and with good conclusions and some thought provoking questions in it.

The original 1951 movie. Great early science fiction movie, overall I enjoyed this better then the remake.
![[image loading]](http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_mNAqaegdRWs/TFn-dvBTydI/AAAAAAAABC4/SeXWqO847gQ/s1600/tillman-story-2.jpg) Goes into detail about Pat Tillman's life, and the circumstances of his death. The coverup that was done in his case was absolutely sickening. The media hype surrounding his death is nothing compared to the truth.
This was pretty fucked up. Was good overall though, Jeff Goldblum is amazing.

Akmareul boatda aka I Saw The Devil
By the gods! I know this movie has been mentioned in the thread before but no one really said anything about it. I got to watch it after I read a review somewhere stating that the Vengeance trilogy by Chan-wook Park is like Toy Story compared to this one. And I have to agree. The acting is superb. The movie is tense and entertaining from the very first seconds to the very last. One of the best movies I have seen in my life. Masterpiece.

I've been watching ninja movies the past few days. I thought Goemon and Ninja Assassin were amazing. Also watched Azumi 1 & 2 :p

Amazing
Antoine Sforza, a thirty-year-old young man, left his village ten years before in order to start a new life in the big city, but now that his father, a traveling grocer, is in hospital after a stroke, he more or less reluctantly accepts to come back to replace him in his daily rounds. Back in the village, accompanied by Claire, a young woman he loves but who hesitates to commit herself, he does the job half-satisfactorily. Too blunt, not in harmony with the locals, he offends them more than he serves them. Fortunately Claire, who has more business acumen, helps him to improve his skills. On the other hand, the relationships are tense with his brother François and even worse with his father, who despises him. So when the latter is back in the village, the situation deteriorates...

Wings of Honneamisen
wow, just wow This has to be the most underrated movie of all time. It was nothing like I expected it to be. A slow movie, which is why it probably didn't attract alot of audience back in 87, but so strong on every field. I couldn't help but consume it. I've seen most movies in this thread and this should be on top of anyones to watch list.

![[image loading]](http://www.movieposter.com/posters/archive/main/19/b70-9912) "The Treasure of the Sierra Madre" - Another great movie with Bogart. It's about a guy whos down on his luck with life and takes a job with a couple other guys to go prospecting for gold, but greed derails their dreams of striking it rich.
"The Green Hornet" - After hearing bad reviews from this I expected the worst, but it really wasn't that bad. Standard action flick where the story is predictable, but I went in not expecting much, so this was ok.
"The Day of the Triffids" - I remember we actually had the VHS tape of this lolol, I remember this cover of it now. Anyways, pretty good alien invasion flick, thought the triffids were pretty interesting. Also, there is a deserted hospital scene at the beginning of it, now I kinda see where 28 Days Later got it from.
![[image loading]](http://www.shockya.com/news/wp-content/uploads/the_fighter_movie_poster1.jpg) "The Fighter" - After seeing it win in the Oscars last night, I decided to check it out. Amazing preformance by Bale in it, stole the whole movie.

An OK movie. Nothing really special about it.
