This one's going on my shelf once it hits blu ray.
Was browsing through to see if this was posted, and behold there it was... Totally agree, this movie is amazing, so intense, can't count the number of times I had goosebumps (swanbumps?). This wasn't as over the top as some of Aronofsky's other movies, more subtle and mysterious, but shocking at times as well. The ending blew me away. Eager to see what Aronofsky will make of Wolverine, his upcoming film in 2011. Curious how he will handle a seemingly more mainstream type of movie.
Fairly entertaining, although the story has been done to death, Affleck puts on a credible and solid performance and the rest of the cast was quite good as well. Excellent pace and plenty of action.
Wow, fucking blown away. After having watched the trailer, i was like what is this piece of shit, but WOW this is by far the best documentary i've seen since Man on Wire. This shit was amazing.
im sure MBW is a banksy hoax. prety sure banksy met thierry, saw what a huge poser he was, and saw a wonderful opportunity to satirize the selling out of street art, the art hype machine and all the posers included, and art in general. The title says it all.. i'm sure all that phony art from MBW is all made by banksy. fucking ingenious movie
I'm jealous, I wish I could erase that movie from my memory so I could watch it for the first time again!
Just saw Tron: Legacy in theaters (not in 3D or IMAX though) with my mother. I was enjoyable but not too deep or anything as expected. I figured it was a good movie to see in a theater over home DVD though.

This makes me doubt your judgement. Unless something has changed drastically...
[...]I need you like Ben Affleck needs acting school[...]
This basically sums up my view on this actor.
Haha
Yup, see for yourself, all I can say really. Although his fake Boston accent was annoying at times, it was better than most other actors in the movie.
Just watched Unstoppable, and coincidentally, you recommended earlier in the thread. Was quite a ride. Literally. But couldn't help but think "Why not just..." do whatever they eventually did at the end, for the entirety of the film, which kind of killed it for me. Thrilling nonetheless, but was expected from Tony Scott.
A little funny but not much sensible plot but the fight scenes are ridiculously exaggerated and physically believable effects, it's very entertaining to watch. Same style and director as Shaolin Soccer (2001)
Just saw Unstoppable per recommendations here and was glued to the screen the whole time. Great suspense flick!
Maniac was a fun ride, but I found it somewhat implausible plot-wise. Given the movie follows around the serial killer throughout the entire movie, I think the story behind him and how he acts could have been much better executed. Still, any horror fan, or anyone interested in serial killers, likely will enjoy the movie.
I did not like either The Chaser or The Man From Nowhere. I watched both for a half hour but could not even keep my attention. I kept dazing off and wanting to do something else instead. Though part of the problem was I had to watch with subtitles, and so far the only subtitled movies I've been able to enjoy are animes.
It's such a beautiful and deep movie... so underrated I don't even understand why!
I'm not sure how to describe it but if you are into sci-fi/deep movies such as Gattaca you should definately look for it.
Check out the trailer on youtube!
to the person who posted this , thanks i remember seeing the trailer for this a while ago and thinking how great it was and wanting to see it. somehow i forgot about it and didnt remember it but yesterday i saw your post and got it (got a appleTv for christmas and found it on itunes).

Yeah, that's right. Didn't watch it before today. Don't hate me.
And what did you think? Not fair to just post that, everyone wants to know how Fight Club seems to someone just seeing it for the first time now I think.
Breathless is also a great movie, basically everyone should watch it, one of the first truly modern movies, inspired basically everything that felt new and cool and popular in Hollywood starting from the mid 60's.
Black Dynamite
Hilarious (for both the casual and film academic viewer), extremely watchable parody of Blaxploitation genre films from the 70's.

Affleck also did the directing for this movie and rumored Oscars for supporting actor, highly recommend this movie
Just watched Requiem for a Dream. I thought Black Swan was decent but nothing too special. People kept saying RfaD was Aronofosky's best film so I was expecting something better than Black Swan -- and therefore a properly good film. Instead, it was really quite mediocre -- with subject matter, editing, and stylization which masked any real depth but would nonetheless manage to dazzle impressionable teenager druggies or pretentious film critics (who probably were the former, back in the days). Very disappointing due to its underserved hype. 7/10 at best. To give context, Black Swan would be around 7.5. Oldboy a 8.5-9, Citizen Kane 9.5-10.
I really want to see that movie, I remember seeing the trailer a while back thinking I really should when it's released. Haven't seen anything on TV suggesting it was out though so I forgot about it.
I saw Fight Club the other day and I was blown away by it. Brad Pitt is incredible in that moviet, one of his best.
I also saw Machete. I was slightly apprehensive about it I have to be honest, directed in the wrong way could see this movie on the harsh end of the critic bat but it's a clever film with a lot of great action sequences, intriguing characters, many interesting subplots, and a good story at its base. Every time I see Danny Trejo in a film he ends up being killed off in a terrible and unfortunate way but thankfully, Rodriguez, like Quentin Tarantino who co-produced it, saw something in this 66-year-old ex-convict, because Trejo makes a great lead for an action film. Just one look at him, and you may want to start running. He doesn't take any crap from anyone, and it is what action stars should be. It's just too bad the villains in this movie are not aware of that fact; there are many villains and they die in terrible, sometimes hilarious ways. It's not meant to be taken seriously at all which is a great aspect to the film but if you hate over the top violent action films, take it with a pinch of salt.
Bad-ass, loved the fight scenes in this. The credits reminded me of a jackie chan movie where they show the outtakes of the fight scenes where actors were injured, crazy shit.
