Every thirty seconds something really, really illogical happens and mostly, it involves the miserably failed attempt to make sense of the utter bullshit that is the story. Nevermind that the plot itself (children flee war, end up in a professor's house - who he is or why he's the one they get sent to is not explained - where they enter a fantasy-world to become royalty and win a war for some animals because of, have a guess, a prophecy) is already as unoriginal as can be, but the whole thing is just one big eclectic piece of terrible plagiarism. Lord of the Rings, Lion King, The Neverending Story, even fucking Santa Claus is part of the merry-go-round. Are you kidding me? Jesuz Christ on a stick, was this movie appalling. Did I mention this nonsense goes on for 2.5 hours?
It is easily, EASILY the worst movie I have seen in a long-ass time. Do yourselves a favour, do NOT watch this movie.
Are you serious? You do know almost all of those were written after the Narnia books right? I can't believe people are so blindly ignorant and make no attempt to see if something's true before spewing it on the internet.
I also think the Narnia movies are terrible, even though I liked the books.
I very recently watched the first 'Narnia' movie. Now let me explain. It was a Christmas gift from someone to someone and I happened to sit on the couch when the receiver of the gift watched the movie. I thought 'what the heck' and watched along... You're obviously not very familiar with fantasy literature otherwise you would know that The Chronicles of Narnia came out around the same time as Lord of the Rings, and it is inspired largely by the Christian Bible among other fantasy sources. The series is a masterpiece of children's literature dude. So FUCK YOU on behalf of Aslan.
And I notice you cite The Never Ending story in your list of narnia plagarisms. A bone headed anachronism on your part as The Never Ending story was written some twenty-thirty years after the Narnia books. But I bet dollars to donuts you didn't read that excellent book and your knowledge of the story comes from the good but not great movie of that name. Do yourself a service jackass-- READ THE FANTASY BOOKS OF MICHAEL ENDE.
When you have come back, enlightened and enriched by a reading of these amazing children's books, you will be forgiven.
^The Good the Bad and the Ugly is an excellent movie, also I did not read through all 67 pages here so I don't know if its been mentioned but a movie I recently (and personally had not heard of) is Restrepo.
Its a National Geographic film with a journalist and cameraman that spent an entire year (all real footage) with a platoon of soldiers in the deadliest valley in Afghanistan.
Iron Man 1+2 ( these are my favourite films. I watch them all the time. ) and recently I watched "Back to the Future" 1 and 2 by Steven Spielberg... classics
Frozen 6/10 Had it's moments, but was mediocre otherwise. Too much "filler" with pointless conversations. Watching the three gradually get worse and worse and trying to figure out what to do was interesting to me though.
Rambo: First Blood 8/10 My first time seeing this classic. Highly recommended! My only problem was I thought some of the characters were too one-dimensional (just to further the plot). The action was amazing though
Family Guy: It's a Trap! 4/10 Only for hardcore Star Wars fans, and even then, not very funny.

I don't know if the book is as shitty as this [...]
My personal attacks:
Jean Luc's actual criticism of my movie review:

You can keep your donuts, but say, how many dollars? Because I happen to have in my possession (and read) the original hardcover version of the book, printed in 1979. Anything else you'd like to troll say?
p.s.: If you like good Children's stories, I suggest you learn German and read Erwin Moser's "Großvaters Geschichten oder: Das Bett mit den fliegenden Bäumen" (I haven't seen a translation of that book yet) or Rafik Schami ('Der ehrliche Lügner' comes to mind).
It's a pretty good movie, remind me of leon the professional. This movie have good fight scene , nice acting and cute kid.
plot: An ex-special agent CHA Tae-shik's only connection to the rest of the world is a little girl, So-mi, who lives nearby. Her mother, Hyo-jeong smuggles drugs from a drug trafficking organization and entrusts Tae-shik with the product, without letting him know. The traffickers find out about her smuggling and kidnap both Hyo-jeong and So-mi. The gang promises to release them if Tae-shik makes a delivery for them, however it actually is a larger plot to eliminate a rival drug ring leader. When Hyo-jeon's disemboweled body is discovered, Tae-shik realizes that So-mi's life may also be in danger. Tae-shik becomes enraged at the prospect that So-mi may already be dead and prepares for a battle, putting his own life at risk.
Amazing. Follows a family of migrant workers on their way to try to get home to the Chinese New Year with their family. It was an eye-opening look into the life of china's migrant workers, the working conditions, the toll it takes on their familys. Highly recommend this as long as you don't mind reading subtitles.
Helter Skelter (1976) - a pretty good tv-movie about Charles Manson, and his "family". The acting is a bit over the top at times, and it's about 3 hours long, but it was good.
The Signal 8/10 One of the best suspense / horror / mindfuck movies I have ever seen! Keeping this one in my collection.
The Pianist 7/10 A very well produced and performed suspense / drama movie. However, I really felt like it started to drag on for the last hour. Very unlikely I'll want to sit through the movie again.
-------------------------------------------------------- Recent movies I saw
Rumble In The Bronx
If you like Jackie Chan's stunts and fights, you have to see this movie! The plot and dialogue are mediocre, but Jackie Chan completely makes up for it.
Legend of The Drunken Master
My least favorite of Chan's movies so far. Some good fight scenes, but the stunts felt uninspired, uncreative, and unimpressive.
I watched the Good , The Bad, and the Weird If you just want to watch a movie with lots of great action sequences then this is a must. It's not a deep movie but it doesn't try to be and for what it is it is Amazing.
Other movies I watched that are already listed here.
Restrepo: Non Bias documentary showing troops fighting insurgences in a remote part of Afghanistan. Great movie would recommend even to those who don't normally watch documentaries.
The Chaser: Korean Revenge movie, if you loved oleboy you should check this movie out.
Collapse: Interesting Documentary wish it was more objective and not just one guy telling you how he thinks the future will play out without any counter arguments.
IP Man: One of the better Martial Arts movies Ive seen in a long time. The lack of wire fu is a big plus.
Jesus Camp: I grew up in the South so I wasn't shocked when I saw this movie. However as a born again Christian turned atheist it made me wonder if I was ever as indoctrinated as some of the kids in this movie. Makes me glad I joined the military and meet secular friends who helped me escape fundamentalism.
I've started to watch all Christopher Nolan films.
- The Dark Knight Well, the film was hyped so much because of Heath Ledger, but for a Batman "hater" like me the film wasn't very entertaining. And Batmans Voice made me laugh so often.
- The Prestige Amazing movie. Excellent actors, great story, with a very surprising ending.
- Inception Just awesome. Even better than The Prestige. One of the best movies I've seen so far this year.

Seconded.
This documentary is pretty slow moving and requires you to be in the right mindset but when you are, holy fuck! I can feel the parents pain and the hopelessness of the situation, I tried frantically to google the names of the people in the film, trying to get information of how they are today but no luck
Posted here just to lol at the poster ripping The CoN for "ripping off" other books and movies, when it was written before any of the other ones came out. Actually, it technically came out the same time LOTR came out, but LoTR was relatively unknown for quite a while while CoN was much more popular. And they are hardly similar anyways other than the standard fantasy fare of wizards, dwarfs, trolls, etc.
Oh yeah, and I just watched
Do yourself a favor and don't watch this with a pistol, razor blade, or any other easy method of suicide nearby.
Yes it's in french with english subs, but give it a go. After the first hour i was like.....hum can i go to bed now? At the end of the movie, all i wanted was another 2h30 of it....
Good movie, thanks for recommendation. Just finished watching it, definitely wasn't disappointed.
