Imagine in this topic that there are no books, just a tv show. That's how this thread should be approached. If you want to discuss the books, go read them and discuss it in the spoiler thread. If you don't want to read the books, go discuss it elsewhere.
Holy passive aggression I was trying to be as polite as possible in asking the thread. A simple "no please" and explain the approach. I only surf this thread briefly from time to time to avoid real spoilers. I won't though thanks
Read the notes at the top of the thread then. Mod's alrdy have to basically spam refresh on this thread alone to block out people spoiling the story so others don't get ruined. Don't talk about the books period, what is there to think about.
Yeah I read that but I noticed someone placed an interview discussing the diversion a bit back so I was curious if it was up for contention.
But yeah, I'll make sure to carry that forward : P

i'm actually surprised people didn't go crazy on him for that. I think in the end the bigger "deal" you make out of it, the more people will react to it.
But yeah, in the end just stay on the safe side and pretend no books exists.

TBH I broke down when Ned died... not in tears but he was, and still is, by far the best character in the 3 seasons up to this date.
Right now my favorite, and the only person I really care if lives or dies, is Sandor Clegane (the hound). Literally during that fire fight I was standing going "NO! HIS SHIELDS ON FIRE" as I thought he was going to die then he let out that battle cry and slammed that sword through the other guys sword (swordception ? : D ) and I breathed a sigh of relief.

I'm glad people like him. He's a great character, and the actor plays him really well.
With this season coming to an end I still think the first was far and away the best. As a non-reader it's been tough understanding the point of a lot of the subplots since then. Robb was mostly comprised of flirtatious dialogue with his wife this season, Bran is now a major character with a story arc even more dull than Season 2's Jon Snow, Sam has been a massive buzz kill since season 1 and his screentime only grows longer. Theon is essentially torture porn, and though Dany's little speech was a high point, she's becoming borderline corny in her new role. I love this series to death, but you know, just sayin...
Starting to think I should read the books because the show seems to act more as a fan service supplement than anything else. People keep saying "you'll find out later! it'll make sense then!" but when it comes down to it this is a standalone TV show, and I feel like the TV audience mostly just watches it for the shock value, which season 3 certainly delivered.

You finally woke up and realized you should read the books. The books are 1000x better than the series. The tv show is good once you've read the books and just can't get enough of gotr. As soon i saw season 1 i read all the books. Wasn't dissapointed.
Guys please correct me if im wrong(im at episode 4 in season 3)Westeros is in war(Robert Baratheon's Brother vs Joffrey,The Lannisters vs The Starks)And all but the Starks are trying to become kings. And then Daenerys Targaryen comes in this shitstorm with her Brand new army+dragons,to reclaim the throne.Am i correct?

Not meant as passive aggression. I don't think my post was out of line at all, just stating how it is, is all m'lord. What do you want in my post, a smilie so I don't show this 'passive aggression' you're talking about?
But in all seriousness, obviously we get a bit annoyed at people asking if it's 'okay' to discuss anything book-related when it's in the mod note and it has been repeated time and time again that it's not allowed.

For anyone that is interested and doesn't want to bother reading the books: http://www.youtube.com/channel/UCPOrN8u0yH-gIEb7SkMwkTw This is a channel that some contains a bunch of videos of the history of each house. They are the "epic history:" videos. Pretty interesting stuff, explains the rains of castamere and such.

Shock value = fanservice ?
What in the flying fuck.
Why all the subplots ? What in the crawling fuck.
I feel you've missed the point of the show (and the books) entirely.
I wonder if the end of Westeros is going to be the same as the end of Valyria. It wouldn't be out of the realms of possibility that GRRM ends the series by having all the humans on Westeros wiped out, if not by WW then by some random 'doom' similar to the one that took out Valyria lol. I get the feeling that he would not like the idea of a 'happy ending', and would instead prefer as bleak an ending as possible.

In my opinion the TV show is better. Especially if you compare this TV show to others and the GRRM books to other books the GoT TV series wins out by far. Of course its all a matter of personal opinion, but saying that the books are 1000x better is surely hyperbole.
