Winter is pretty damn bad and the words urge you to consider that winter is eventually gonna come, so be prepared. When winter truly comes, the white walkers are gonna fuck shit up, people will starve in droves and this petty conflict they have now will mean nothing. I agree with your literal definition of winter, but my statement is from the Starks point of view. For them S*** is really F*** up now.

The history-lessons on season 2 dvd tell us from the cataclysm that destroyed Valyria, the old home of the dragons and the targaryens. If after that event, they only had 3 Dragons left, it might be a matter of bad breeding, maybe they just had bad genetics, maybe it's just that the "incest" amongst dragons makes them smaller. Or the loss of valyria, the inhabitants and or their dragons weakened the magic in a way, that new born dragons would degenerate. It is not explained. I think they said, but not sure. The breeding didnt worked out, because those dragons had walls around them, because they werent free to roam around, they never grew.

I like the Jaime bit though, looks like he's not pure evil like his sister and father. The douchebag-attitude he's had earlier was probably just a way of shielding himself from constantly getting hurt by being called 'Kingslayer'. I feel the Jaime-character would make more sense if it instead had been Cersei pushing Bran out the window, but I don't mind the complexity in Jaime. On April 30 2013 13:57 Emnjay808 wrote: Still bothers me how no one questioned Joffrey's real father. I mean, seriously, did you need to read a book to remind yourself that the line of Baratheon sons were black of hair. The way I see it, it's not impossible for a Baratheon son (or daughter) to have anything else but black hair, it's just uncommon. Ned reading that book gave him the idea that Joffrey might not be Robert's son but Jaime's, and that coupled with the fact that it would explained how Bran fell out through the window was evidence enough for him to confront Cersei, who confirmed it. At least that works as a perfectly plausible explanation for me.

Overall the whole loyalty business is a more fickle thing than appeals to God and country. Ser Barristan served three kings, he still is considered very honourable but obviously he never cared about any of those kings personally.

I don't think you understand this part. I just watched the 3rd episode of Game of Thrones (my girlfriend is getting into it so I'm re-watching the first season with her). In the 3rd episode, the Lord Commander speaks with Tyrion and tells him that there are less than 1000 men left defending/manning the walls and that Tyrion should bring word and reinforce the wall. I too was wondering the significance of the scene where Jon mentioned the number of men. There would be no significance to that scene unless Jon was lieing. This puts the character in a position where he will eventually be found out (he'll get his guts spilled if they find out he's lieing). Otherwise, there is no other significance to this scene. Re-watching the 3rd episode from season 1 only confirmed my theory. It is likely that Jon would know that there are less than 1000 men and that most of the fighting force has marched out. Therefore, Jon is consciously lieing in an attempt to delay Mance's plans. Even though they are an infiltrating force, the number of crows manning the wall does matter. One reason it matters, as already mentioned, it delays Mance's plans to prepare for an attack on a heavier fortified wall. Another example: Think of yourself sneaking into a village where you can be easily identified as an outsider. There might be a few lamp posts here and there that you have to sneak in and out of. The likelihood of people walking around the streets (besides those on guard) is not as likely as.. lets say a City. A city has many street lights and also a few drunks walking around. Regardless, there are more people, therefore, your chances of being detected is higher. Anyhoo - love the series - cheers.

So what you're saying is.... what came first, the dragon or the egg? In the scene with Viserys in the tub he talks about dragons he mentions that each generation was smaller than the last until the last of the dragons which were no bigger than dogs.

Don't forget about Jon Snow though. It would seem rather likely that he will play a role in determining how the Wildlings and the Northmen interact. With the White Walkers moving and winter coming, humans might have to set aside their bullshit for a time.
