Sure, they can STAND the cold (because of training), but they naturally won't be able to fight as effective as those who have lived in it their whole lives. At this rate Dany will probably hit Westeros as the winter comes, giving her army a severe disadvantage compared to those native of the land (IMO). In the end, she'll probably just become another player in the game of thrones, not a powerhouse that can stomp all the lands into submission like her ancestors. That being said there's no telling how many people will accept her anyway, given how the last king of her kin was. I think they would be best in an open-field where their spears are in full strenght. But they say they have 3 types of spears. For me they are like macedonians, great warrior and tacticians : ![]() The long spear then a medium sized and a small sized. The long and medium spear for an open field, great vs anything exept against catapuls and siege weapons. The small spear and the sword they talked about for melee combats and close quarters like inside a castle. Personally I can totally see her stomping everyone and then being stopped by a sudden aliance. But anyway I would love a fight with the fire believers and the white walkers and her or something along those lines. + Show Spoiler + ![]() The champion of light. ![]() Daenerys and one of her dragon ![]() White walkers

The unsullied don't wear heavy armor and wield spears, they're basically well trained infantrymen. That will do well against untrained soldiers, but probably not so well against the knights in full plate armor. Spear will piece a full plate a lot easier than most other weapons so that isn't the best argument. Also most armies (especially northern but even the Lannisters) are light armored infantrymen; they don't have this mass of knights flowing around. Calvary will be the unsullied's biggest weakness if they don't understand proper formation to deflect cavalry charges which may be likely since horses rather scarce in any scene outside of the seven kingdoms.

No i would say they are decently effective against knights. A man can get up from prone or lying just fine even while wearing full plate. It's only slightly less heavy than modern military infantryman equipment.

I'm far from well versed in any of the lore or combat knowledge but you'd think the Unsullied / Astapor has been in some sort of contact with the Dothraki.

I don't think Daenerys is going to get to the throne that easily. Either there's going to be some sort of major alliance because SHIT dragons are scary and we don't want another Mad King on the throne, or some of the powers will strike an alliance with the invaders in the hopes of backstabbing their way to the throne themselves. Lannisters can't stay on the throne forever because that wouldn't be interesting... the Tyrells taking over may be more and more obvious. You wouldn't think of it around Season 2 because they're the Hufflepuffs of Westeros. Their crest is a rose and their main guy in the story is a fairy (in the personality way, not in the gay way, although he is that too coincidentally), and they seem to be on the surface concerned more with elegance and beauty than the politics of the Iron Throne. And that turns out to be their greatest advantage as two of their best players happen to be Margaery, who is pussywhipping Joffrey more and more with each episode, and Oleanna, who is stealing the "most cunning person in Westeros" award away from Tyrion. So they're probably the immediate gainers of the Iron Throne. It would be nice to see the repercussions of this, maybe the Lannisters will form unusual alliances to oust the Tyrells... but seeing as I didn't expect the Tyrells in season 2, everything past that is moot.

White walkers are much more zombie-like than ressurection. and light creates shows. its kind of the requirement for shadows. and to be completely honest melisandre just seems like a bad person overall. Where the brotherhood without banners seems a lot friendlier. and a lot better people.

Light cavalry could probably pick knights apart if they ride better. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_Mohi Yeah, pretty much. The Dothraki are basically dumber Mongols pre-unification, before they assimilated all the technology of China (like gunpowder). The whole choosing to follow a leader because he's stronger, light cavalry tactics, etc. They ought to dominate against infantry, and be only slightly less competent, but still superior, to heavy cavalry. Discipline is key to making sure they wouldn't get caught in a close range fight. The Unsullied haven't been shown to carry swords, as far as I can make out, but we haven't seen the supply train. Also, I'm fairly certain we haven't seen Dothraki bowmen yet either, despite that supposedly being their signature thing. Swords are important, of course, to soldiers doing the phalanx thing, because spears are powerful but infamous for shattering. The weakness at short range and unwieldiness have traditionally been mitigated by use of tight formations, as the Unsullied seem to employ. Archers are the one really scary thing though. Unlike their Greek counterparts, the Unsullied appear to wear very light armor, and their shields aren't huge either. The idea of zombies is of bodies without souls/minds, and is in opposition to ghosts, which are souls/minds without bodies. Though it sounds like zombie is the danger you face if you die and get brought back too much in this world.
