A year in isolation, hardship, etc. can do that to you. I imagine losing his hand won't do him much good either. I am not sure, but did they cut out his eye as well? In any case his fighting/glory days are over and this is reflected in his appearance. I could understand that when his hair had become grey
Well, in the world of Westeros people turn brown when they get weaker. Think of them like super saiyans . Just wait for the fusion :p.

I enjoyed this episode. I know what happened to Ned really demonstrates that no one is safe in this show, but I kind of figured that Jaime had plot armor for a decent while still. I was quite surprised. Kind of ironic (or foreboding?) that the one time we see him show compassion for anyone by giving Brienne a hand, he quite literally loses a hand not 2 minutes later. Seems like nice guys always finish last in this show!
I've never thought this before, but I was also disappointed that there was no new Bran scene. Can it be Sunday again yet? I assure you, 100%, there is no such thing as plot armor for GRRM's work

thats not the point though. im not saying lololol hes so bad. im saying theyve fallen in to a tell instead of showing mind set, which is bad.
they tell you hes great, they never show it.

Well, to be fair, with the way GoT starts out, there pretty much has to be a fair amount of telling as opposed to showing, as it starts in media res and the world is already full to the brim with characters with long histories. I do think they could have done more in the show to prove Jaime's skill, but its clear that their storyboards are already cramped as hell lol.

Also I assume you're talking about 0/2 as in the fight with Ned Stark and then Brienne, though to be fair his hands were bound the second time. Not like it's really a fair fight when you've been a starved and physically stressed prisoner. Also he didn't lose against Ned, their fight got cut short. I think Robb is fucked. He seems to be pissing off more people than he's gonna be able to handle. I also forgot how Theon got into that situation of his. I feel completely lost in that part of the story arc and I should probably go rewatch season 2. I remember Bran and Rickon escape...and then I don't remember exactly. Theon gets betrayed?
You are not supposed to know what is going in Theon storyline yet, but they are dropping hints.

If I am not mistaken, that is the place where Arya fought Joffrey in the beggining of Season 1. Where she tells her wolf to flee and Sansa's wolf get killed afterwards.
Oh I was wondering what that was about. Makes a lot of sense. Thanks.

Cmon, it's obviously Tyrion's manipulation to make the poor chap feel like a million gold dragons.
hahahaha, I think just having 3 talented whores for one's first time would be enough to feel like a million gold dragons...
Have you guys considered the possibility that maybe Pod really is a monster in bed?

Although Tyrion have memories of being lied to regarding about such thing, considering what Jamie did too Tyrion on his first sexnight (the setup in the woods of the girl who ran away from rape). I think Tyrion was just testing how loyal Podrick was. It would have been easy to "steal" gold as whores do take gold usually always. Why would he test Podrick's loyalty after he killed a kingsguard to save Tyrion's life?
It was just a comic relief people, no need to look too much into it.

That's all part of his character though. He's supposed to be a badass swordsman, but you never see it. Instead, Brienne accuses him of coasting on his reputation, and Vargo accuses him of hiding behind his father's name and money. You're supposed to be skeptical of Jaime's talents, whereas you wouldn't be if the show had included a few fights of him being awesome.

As a person who never read the books but watched all the series and episodes til now, I have to ask. SPOILER ALERT FOR THE ONES WHO DIDN'T WATCH LAST EPISODE: + Show Spoiler +How fucked up is Jaime losing his right hand? Jesus... that caught me completely off guard.

Him being a great swordsman is basically who he is, so I imagine he's going to become crushed and jaded (since he basically lost it due to compassion for someone else).

Even Berristan Selmy commented on how good Jaime is, or I guess was now that he's had a hand cut off. If you impress Berristan, you must be good. He also fought Ned to a standstill, and even seemed to be toying with him.

I wonder if he can make it home after that and even if he makes it, I wonder how Tywin will react to this. I remember Tywin asking him to "REACT NOW, NOT TOMORROW" back in season 1. Also, for whatever reason I feel like Robb can't win this battle. I feel like the White Walkers will "strike" first before the battle begins. Also this considering Daenerys is arriving at this moment with her Dragons.

I read a lot of comments of recognising the song. I have never heard the song before or any other version of it. What is the song, and what does it mean? Its a song about a bear and a girl or something? I dont get the reference.
On the other hand i think Sam is in trouble. And ofc Deny will buy the slaves and kill the slavers, remember how she wants to buy the ones in training also? She wants no resistance and freedom for the slaves. Thats what i think anyway.
I was sure Theon was dead, and I was fine with it. However another awesome fighter joins the story. Time to get rid of some
And i root for the wildlings, they have an norwegian actor on their team, :D
I like season 3, but i think its time for someone to die, to shake things up
edit: on the whole "whos the best swordfighter" thing, its kinda like whos the best starcraft player out there? I hear Flash is a beast but i saw him lose twice....(i didnt im just trying to make a point)

I'm wondering if Jaime will even survive at this point... I doubt his captors are going to be very forthcoming with medical attention and he's going to be losing a LOT of blood. At best he'll get the sword-in-the-fire cauterization treatment, which I guess is somewhat likely because they'll enjoy making him scream some more.
I want gangrenous Jaime! Realism and all that!

From westeros.org;
The Bear and the Maiden Fair is a rather ribald traditional song sung throughout the Seven Kingdoms. It describes in a humorous tone the story of a hairy bear that, while going to a fair with a band of three boys and a goat, rescues a maiden who was hoping for a knight. The song is at least older than 209 AL, when it was already sung[1]. It is very popular, being enjoyed both by the nobles and the commons.
+ Show Spoiler +"A bear there was," "A bear, A BEAR! "All black and brown," "And covered with hair! "Oh come they said," "Oh come to the fair!" "The fair? said he, "But I'm a bear!" Is it me or theon's tormentors looked like they are from the iron islands? Judging by the landscape he doesn't appear to be in the north.

As a book reader, the rendition(s) of the Bear and the Maiden Fair were excellent.

Loving the fact that GRRM can just cut heads and hands left and right. So good to finally have a show where there is NO plot-armor what so ever, not even the slightest.
Only plot-armor I can see, is dragonbitch, but then again, I still dont know for sure.
