I believe he said he's been in captivity for a year, his skills have lessened, now he is worn down, and unpracticed. I don't expect him to have the upper hand of any fight anymore and will continue to lose those duels. you dont even metion the real extent. He probaly gets beaten everyday, aint probaly fed. Doenst sleep. He is pretty much at 30% of his abilty. thats not the point though. im not saying lololol hes so bad. im saying theyve fallen in to a tell instead of showing mind set, which is bad. they tell you hes great, they never show it. That's all part of his character though. He's supposed to be a badass swordsman, but you never see it. Instead, Brienne accuses him of coasting on his reputation, and Vargo accuses him of hiding behind his father's name and money. You're supposed to be skeptical of Jaime's talents, whereas you wouldn't be if the show had included a few fights of him being awesome.
Smart take on it. Jaime hasn't been shown to suck at fighting (he fought Ned to a standstill and wasn't exactly getting owned by Brienne either - even though they argue about who was 'winning'). And plenty of characters do attest to his past feats (the cousin he killed, Selby, ect), but that was a long time ago.
Jaime's also been shown to be pretty insecure about how people view him (his father's speech about how much he hates being called Kingslayer in S1), so it makes sense that he doesn't want to risk his reputation.
In any case; the thing with best swordsman is you never can never prove it without someone dying; so people like Ned / Selby don't exact like flaunting it (Ned even says he doesn't see the point in tournaments). After all, it's not like boxing / SC where you can just match them up for 12 rounds / Bo7 and see what happens.

It's the song the Brotherhood were singing during their march (Arya's scene).

I'm not saying that Jaime isn't / wasn't a talented swordsman, only that the narrative has been crafted in a way that you perceive him similarly to the way characters like Brienne do. If you watched his duel with Brienne and thought "Jaime's losing to a girl, really?" that's exactly what the show's creators were going for. If you're making the same excuses for him that he made to Brienne, all the better. It wasn't a mistake that they didn't show him winning a tournament or two -- it was great storytelling.

So many people reading into the Pod scene... it was just a fun scene, nothing more lol.

Only plot-armor I can see, is dragonbitch, but then again, I still dont know for sure.
Atm i feel like they cutting his hand of is like the biggest Plot armor ever and he will be around for quite some time ^^. Not that i have a clue, but why would they cut his arm just to kill him soon after?

spoiler?

To Shae and Bronn while they're in the Lannister army tent. Episode 9, iirc.

No, it wasn't to Jon Snow. It was to Bronn. But yes, this happened in season 1.

Why would they hamstring Ned Stark just to kill him soon after? There is no such thing as plot armor in this series...

I think Daenerys is going to get her dragon back shortly after giving it to the guy.. I don't see them A)Listening to him at all B) She may be slightly annoying and act stupid at times but she knows perfectly well what she is doing here. C) I'm 50/50 if she gets her new army/dragons to kill the rulers of that city.. I'll go with yes just to see if I am right.

I'm like 95% her first command to the slave army will be to burn down this city. Bonus points if the dragon she gives the guy in charge kills him when he tries to command it.

I think that table / chair scene with Tyrion is now my favorite scene of the entire series so far. At least for now. And a great ending as well. So much to look forward to next episode.

So after all is said and done who do you guys think has the best chance of taking the throne? Obviously daenerys seems really dangerous and she has the upperhand by no one even knowing she exists, but her army is pretty small in comparison to everyone else. I can't see Robb winning, at least not with his amount of experience and also the white walkers closing in soon. Joffrey has like a million people who fucking hate his guts so...

I like Tywin more with every episode. Wish there was more scenes with him, he just kills it. Every scene with Tywin and Tyrion together is just awesome.

Anyone have a place that states what the current make up of peoples armies are?
Daenery - 10kish? Wildlyns - 90k? Kings Landing - ???? Robb Stark - ??? Iron Islands - ??? Stannis - ???
