A woman who suddenly discovers that she is unable to conceive a child usually faces severe trauma. It is a life-changing discovery which leads them to attach themselves more closely to children which are not their own. This is a very real thing, and there is no similarity whatsoever between a woman's biological urge to protect her young vs. a teenage boy's desire to protect a puppy that he purchased.
Basically, she lost the only love she's ever known, and she lost her unborn child. All she has are her dragons which she walked through fire to give birth to. I think she has the right to feel a little overprotective.
Could anyone explain to me where it's said that she can't conceive another child? No one's said that in the show so far from what I know.

The Miri Maz Duur witch said that she won't bear another child until the sun rises in the west and sets in the east or something.
Part of the ritual where the witch sacrificed Dany's child in order to prevent Khal Drogo from dying.

Part of the ritual where the witch sacrificed Dany's child in order to prevent Khal Drogo from dying. IIRC the witch said when Dany asked her when would Drogo be well again. I could be mistaken, but I'm pretty sure there was no mention of children in that passage.

No. She said that she won't see Drogo until the sun sets rises bla bla. The sacrifice was the horse. The child died because someone pushed here down to the ground iirc. Possibly because they carried her into the tent where she had been warned not to go. Either way there was no agreement about the child being sacrificed.
Edit: tiny typo

I thought it seemed pretty obvious that the child was the sacrifice used when I watched it.

Ok I rewatched the scene. Here's the quote: Hag: "Only death pays for life" Danny: "My death?" Hag. "No Khaleesi. Bring me his horse"
Next scene with the sacrifice. Hag "~Get out of the tent all of you. Once the ritual begins no one must enter" then the hag slits the throat of the horse.
After that, outside the tent the blood rider pushes Danny to the ground, where she falls on her stomach and says "The baby.. is coming". The dothraki women won't come because they say danny is cursed. One of the blood riders say "The witch. She can bring baby. I heard her say so."
Then the knight carries danny in his arms into the tent.
How can you take away from this that it was obvious that danny sacrificed her baby and that she's now unable to have children?

Because of the connection between her miscarriage and the completion of the ritual and because of how badly the witch wanted the baby dead.

This I had actually assumed the baby was part of the ritual as well. it timed out perfectly and the Witch did say something about the stallion who would mount the world and how she did not want that to happen(Don't remember exact quote.)

Miri maz duur says something like: "When the sun rises in the west and sets in the east. When the mountains crumble and blow in the wind. When your womb quickens and you bear another child, then he shall return to you." in answer to when Khal Drogo will return to normal, implying that she will never be able to get pregnant again.
|
No, that is a book quote, not a show quote.

This quote is definitely in the show.

It isn't, check again. The last part of that quote is not in the show. Without going into book spoilers: In the show, we are never told she can not get pregnant again.

Part of the ritual where the witch sacrificed Dany's child in order to prevent Khal Drogo from dying. I think it was something among the lines of:
"When will I see Drogo again?" to which she replied: "When the sun rises in the west and sets in the east, when mountains blow away like leaves, when streams and seas go dry, when your womb quickens again and you bear a child, then you will see him again."
|
"When sun rises in the west and sets in the east. When the seas go dry, when the mountains blow in the wind, like leafs."
is the exact quote from the show, rewatched it right now. After that the witch turns and walks away.

Actually earlier in the thread a person was warned and got his post removed for saying that she couldn't have children, so I'm pretty sure that it's a book spoiler that has nothing to do with the show. I guess the mods kind of abandoned the thread after the show ended ^^
Edit. I remember because I got warned too for quoting him and saying that he was wrong. We're all in trouble >_>

I was under the impression she can´t have any children, and that is from only watching the show. I am pretty sure Dany herself says she can't have a child and that her dragons are the closest thing she will ever get to one. I think she says it to Jorah in season 2.

This is true, but it is not said in season 1.

Guys.....GUYS.
Calm down.
It is said 100% clear in the show that Dany's womb is barren and unable to have children.
No questions asked. It's not up for debate people.

Which episode?

I definitely remember hearing her say she won't have children, but that's very different from unable to have children. I had interpreted it as "I don't want to sleep with anyone but Drogo, which means I'll never get pregnant because he's dead."
(for what it's worth, I read the first book like 7 years ago and don't remember much of it at this point, outside of what was in the show...)
