The Scene with dany waking up (@Episode 10; 22:17): + Show Spoiler + Dany: "Ser Jorah." Ser Jorah: "Gently, gently." Dany: "My son, where is he I want him. Where is he?" Ser Jorah: "The boy did not live." Dany: "Tell me." Ser Jorah: "What is there to tell?" Dany: "HOW DID MY SON DIE?!" Ser Jorah: "He never lived, my princess. The woman say..." Dany: "What did the woman say?" Ser Jorah:" ....They say the child was..." Witch: "...monstrous, twisted. I pulled him out myself. He was scaled like a lizard, blind with leather wings like the wings of a bat. When i touched him the skin fell from his bones, inside he was full of graveworms. I warned you that only death can pay for life, you knew the price." Dany: "Where is Khal Drogo? Show him to me, show me what I bought with my son's life!" Second scene with dany finding khal drogo (@24:36) + Show Spoiler + Dany walks up to drogo as she sees him lying in the sun. The witch: "He lives, u asked for life, u payed for life." Dany: "This is not life, when will he be as he was?" Witch: "When sun rises in the west and sets in east. When the seas go dry and the mountains blow in the wind likes leaves." chitter chatter between ser jorah and dany, not important. Dany: "You knew what I was buying and you knew the price." Witch: "It was wrong of him to burn my temple. It angered the Great Shepherd." Dany: "This is not Gods work. My child was innocent." Witch: "Innocent? He would have been the stallion who mounts the world. Now he will burn no cities, now his Khalasar will tremple no nations into dust." Dany: "I spoke for you. I saved you." Witch: "Saved me? Three of those riders had already raped me before you saved me, m'girl. I saw my Godshouse burn. There were I had healed men and women, beyond counting. In the streets I saw piled of heads. The head of the baker, who makes my bread, the head of a young boy, where I cured a fever just three moons past. So, tell me exactly what it was that u saved?" Dany: "Ur live." Witch: "Why don't you take a look at your Khal? Then you will see exactly what life is worth, when all the rest has gone." There is no mention of Dany not being able to have more children. But it does mention that the witch knew that the baby would been the sacrifice. As so the horse would be a mere distraction, because if Dany would know that the sacrifice would be her baby, she wouldnt go through with it but just a horse would be fine. As mentioned before, in the books it is indeed stated she can never have children again but its not in the show, atleast not in season 1 as someone else said.

There's spoilers warnings on the top for that reason for god's sake. Sigh. As a book reader I support this. This discussion would not exist if people were not injecting their book knowledge. There was one cryptic suggestion of the matter in episode 18 and that is it. On the other hand this is the kind of topic that calls to question the need for a particularly strict "no books" rule as it is a spoiler free comparison of book vs. show details in the story. If the strict policy is still being enforced the last 2-3 pages of this thread should probably be deleted.

When I see people totally misunderstanding things in the show I'll just chuckle to myself and carry on. Sorry if I've "spoiled" anything.

That is more or less exactly what a third thread is needed for, as some were asking for some time ago. Allow the use of book information to clarify events already passed in the show as comes up as useful for a couple topics almost every episode. This thread does not allow it and the other thread is spoiler city for anyone just watching the show. A middle ground would be great. The show does at least partially explain things in nearly all cases, but it can be subtle to outright cryptic and/or rely on remembering a small line or other detail from a couple episodes back. Without more context, the books, things can't usually be "proven" when you try to clarify something as seen here.

Stupid memory T.T So I guess in the show it's not until Dany says it to her knight in season 2. I seriously can't believe they just left out half of the magi's speech.............. Sorry, but even still. These facts remain no matter what, show or book. Dany's child was the intended sacrifice, the horse was simply a ploy/distraction. and Dany can no longer have children. The magi states that the child was the intended sacrifice, that it was misshappen and filled with grave worms. That doesn't happen cause you get pushed over, it happens because the magi wants Drogo and Drogo's son gone from the world. Also, people are reading far to much into the wrong parts of this scene.....I'm done trying to explain. I still feel like the biggest problem here is just this is all very subtle stuff worded strangely for someone who doesn't speak english as a first language (hell, a lot of people that do speak english as a first language wouldn't quite catch everything). And people were looking at it wrong/not understanding the meanings behind some of thing stuff. Like.. I just wrote a pretty solid piece on why the child could not possibly be meant as the sacrifice, and you just dismissed it as 'some people don't understand the meanings behind some of the thing stuff. You're bad at English, I'm done trying to explain.' What? They carried Danny into the tent after the blood rider pushed her, so that's perhaps why the child was so deformed? If I'm too poor at English to grasp what's going on in the show, it's a miracle that I managed to read the books and understand what happened there. The show is not the same as the books. This has nothing to do with my poor understanding of the English language. It's just not explained yet in the show. Edit. Oh nice, TheSamuraj brought a transcript of a scene where the witch told her that the child was the sacrifice. Nice. Still weird how the witch told her to GTFO and stay out. Oh well. It's still not explained why she wouldn't be fertile in the show though.

Is Daenerys not only figuratively but literally the Mother Of Dragons?

It actually does and thats also the reason why I think that Daenerys walked into the flames at the end of episode 10. She knew by then that was the last of the dragons, she had clues before (the hot water and such) but this was confirmation. I'm actually quite curious right now about how Khal Drogo would have reacted if Daenerys had given birth to a dragon. A dragon can't ride a horse but he can "mount the world". And the Khalasar would make her out for a demon of some sort, I guess. She would maybe been killed along with the dragon or praised perhaps. Banishing doesn't seem Dothraki, so she wouldn't live. Also the Khal wouldn't have a son who would follow him up, so he has to find a new wife but would Daenerys take that? She just gave birth to a dragon.... ill stop myself here. But yeah she gave birth to a dragon and it was sacrificed for Khal Drogo's life.

Apparantly to save people who wants to read the books themselves at a later time, seeing as theres a lot happening in the books that doesn't happen in the show. I completely agree that a new thread with a middle ground is needed. edit: Oh, and the spoiler tag has shown itself time and time again that it does not work. People click on them anyways -.-

I pretty much interpreted the scene as the child being the target from the start of the ceremony, and since the witch was lying from the beginning she might as well have made up stuff to avoid being interrupted. I mean, in Danys hindsight, there is no reason to believe anything the witch said was true, she was just by all means making sure the ceremony was completed.

This is a show (sort of like the HP movies) where explanations from people who have read the books kind of makes things make more sense at some parts. Thus, those who have read it are in a pickle because we want to help people understand it more when they are curious, but we kind of get flamed by the other half who would rather remain in the dark. GameFAQs used to have like 6 topics for GoT. GOT SPOILERS GOT NO SPOILERS GOT SEMI SPOILERS GOT SPOILERS THROUGH BOOK 1 GOT SPOILERS THROUGH BOOK 2 and so on. Lol... it was a bit ridiculous and flooded the topics.

Rewatching season 1 today, something actually disturbed me. There scene where Robert Arryn was breastfeeding. The first time I didn't even think of it, because its part of the story. The kid is fucked up. But today it hit me, that on set a 10 year old boy was sucking some womans boob. I would assume fake, but still. If it was, it's still fucking weird as shit.
