Heard an interesting theory. "I can still feel what he did to me inside my body" (or something like that) + not tolerating nights watch food/drink + making a ton of clothes = pregnant sansa? The show hasn't minded stabbing pregnant women before either.

Kill the boy episode (S05EP05) in a discussion between John and Allister: John: Look, well, there is good farmland in the Gift. Land that no one uses now. A dozen abandoned villages. Allister: And why do you think the farmers abandoned those villages? Because the wildlings raided them for years. Thanks! Was missing s05e05.

I saw the scene with her at the table with the others as her not being accustomed to "mess tent" type food. And since when is making clothes a symptom of being pregnant?

Dunno, I think the guy explaining it was getting a bit caught up in his own glory :p

No way would they be okay with what in their eyes are a bunch of savages living right next to them who could potentially raid their villages once they build up their numbers. We have to remember that in their eyes the wall was built to keep wildlings out. They don't believe in the existence of white walkers yet. Also, white walkers coming up from the north so just sticking around with no allies is a bad idea.

Aren't there also a bunch of westero-ians who actually farm that land for the watch living there right now? None of the watch ever seem to do any farming themselves, so I'd just assumed there were normal peasants living in those lands farming, paying tithes to the watch keeps or something. I figured Olly's parents/village were some of those people, which was part of the reason he got so pissed when Jon gave that land to the wildlings.

Watch has been in decline for a while which leads to increased raids and depopulation of the gift. Olly's people were meant to be some of the last I think.

Even last season, Sansa was married in the snow. And they had that really bad snow that locked everything down before Melisandre warmed things up. There's not a whole lot of growing anything going on.

Do they just plant multiple rotations of crops throughout the multi-year summer or what? I think it is multple crop rotations. I think from the present day it's been something like 10+ years since the last winter (the stark children are "summer children") so they've had a lot of time to stockpile grain and other food. I can't technically remember if they ever mention it in the show so... + Show Spoiler + It is mentioned a lot (in the books at the very least) about the various castle's stockpiles of food and that the war(s) are draining those stockpiles. It's also mentioned that the more southern kingdoms build big stockpiles of food and possibly keep farming even during the winter so you can imagine a trade system where they send food north. This even happens to help King's Landing recover from the wars I believe. The continent is big enough that you can imagine it like the US, even in the winter there's a portion of the land that's able to keep farming and producing food.

I guess the land beyond the wall is not as popluated as the rest, but I would imagine if the wildlings can survive mainly based on hunting (?) so far, doing the same on the other side of the wall should be not much of an issue, at least initially, despite some other people being there aswell. Political/social problems excluded of course. With the reported numbers of Wildlings, there would have to be herds following them around too. No way to feed that many as hunter-gatherers. (How much game is north of the wall anyway?)

(How much game is north of the wall anyway?) It's not like they've always been gathered like that though. I thought they were typically all spread out in small tribes, and it was only Mance who managed to gather them together. I doubt they had any long term sustainable food source while they were grouped up like that.
