Even in European languages is hard. It is easy in Germanic languages related to English like German or Dutch. But for example, in romance languages is very hard. In Spanish something like "sujeta / sostén la puerta" is like impossible to pun to hodor.

French traduction starts with "do not let them get outside", shortened to "not outside", shortened to "outside"="au dehors" which is very close to Hodor.

I've seen a few discussions but I don't remember where I found them. I just saw recently that the German translation was close enough.

I have absolutely no idea how that could work in Czech, but I also can't seem to be able to find out whether a Czech version even exists. The local HBO Go has just English with subtitles (can be found without subscription, just not viewed) and I don't have actual HBO to investigate (why would anyone even have any sort of television nowadays is quite beyond me). Well, even the subtitles had to do it somehow, but there there is probably more wiggle room.
It would have been fun, if it was translated from the start into dozens of clever wordplays and people would be able to make it out just by comparing the different language versions. But then, someone though about it just from English, so it probably would have been easy.
This also reminded me, how happy I am that I can understand the language in which most of the stuff I am interested in originally comes. Makes me understand why people learn seemingly useless languages such as Latin so that they can properly understand literature they like. People watching dubbed-over versions of many shows are really missing out. (With the glorious exception of Red Dwarf, where anyone who doesn't speak Czech misses out on the glorious Czech version which is actually better than the original.)

Polish HBO translated it literally and just expected the viewer to figure it out from the English sounds. Independent (read: pirate) subtitle group tried to translate it and the result was quite awkward. In their version it was like this: "Zahamuj martwych, na ile możesz!" (Stop the dead for as long as you can!) -> "Zahamuj dwych, ile możesz!" -> "Hamujd, ile ożesz!" -> "Hamildeorzesz!" -> "Hodorze" -> "Hodor".
Found the Czech version: Drž dveře - Drždveře - Dždvře - Hodor (lol)

I just found out (by reading a meme) that the actor of Jorah Mormont plays in the Resident Evil movies where he is an Umbrella researcher. Which means the cure for his grayscale will be the T-Virus. And then his knowledge about Zombies is what will stop the White Walkers.

Arya boring as usual. Benjen wasn't focused on as much that would have been a great 15 minute filler right there.

nice i love the twist stealing the sword which was monumentally stupid and leaving with gilly who is a total babe
arya thing was ok since i think the premise was that "you write your own lines if you want to".
but i'm really not sure still what she got out of the whole ordeal. she didn't seem to learn anything. except maybe she became an elite martial artist within 3 days?? (or was she still shit i dont remember)
