If Sandor can strike through a block and kill a guy, than the Mountain surely can strike a block and cleave a guy in two. This post has some strong analysis. Nitpicking on two points: 1) Oberyn was clearly wearing light leather armor. Beats the hell out of me why, but he was wearing pleated leather. 2) Movies sometimes give a bad impression of sword fighting, suggesting that a parry always consists of straight-blocking a blow. This is false. A perpendicular block is a very inefficient move, is easily broken, and is really only done to avoid imminent death. The classic case is a swordsman in the ground defending against a killing chop. But in almost every case, the better move is to deflect the blade aside without properly blocking. Most of the longsword-style fights we've seen in GoT rely on this kind of deflection. Oberyn actually used is quite a few times in his fight, pushing against the flat of the Mountain's blade with the haft of his spear. As much as you want to explain and understand why God chooses which people live and die there's just no reason to it sometimes and you have to not obsess over it and move on and just accept it.. I think it's this as well as the Martin thing; Martin is, of course, the god of this world. And it's theologically clever; to everyone with a bugs-eye-view (and a handful of clueless fans) there seems to be no order to the killing. But if you're actually able to step back and look, everybody's arc finishes before they die, either heroically or tragically. You may or may not believe life works like that, but Game of Thrones certainly does.

I know he showed Margeary the crossbow he had that was easier to load but the guy still took 30 seconds to be ready to shoot.

He spent his whole life training, and survived what killed many other boys. He's skinny only from lack of testosterone. Testosterone is so underrated. About that. Wouldn't castrating them reduce their muscle growth, and ultimately making them weaker, which contradicts the masters trying to create a super fighting force? pretty sure he still has his balls. Which is why he enjoyed looking at boobs. Also provides him strength. If they fully castrated him, he would develop breasts and lose a large chunk of his muscle mass. Strength doesn't help you when it comes down to weapons that's all. The only advantage having a strong build give you is range but strength doesn't rly make a difference when every blow can kill you. I guess it's the same as in kick boxing, the most annoying bastards are the tall and thin ones who are both agile and long ranged (them fast and long kicks). I would even say that when using long range weapons like the spear Greyworm uses, being small is even better than being tall and thin because the range is mostly nullified and the target is smaller (Syrio Forrell lesson). The thing where strength or basic muscular development might be helpful is endurance but even then, endurance can be acquired through training. No for his fast and long weapon I think Greyworm has the perfect build. lol what I know in movies when you touch someone with a weapon they die, but weapons need force to do anything of merit. Muscles are what give you force and make you move fast - the idea that muscular people are inherently less 'agile' or quick than thin people is laughable. Real life is not viedogames. Obviously there are diminishing returns when you get to someone like the Mountain's bulk, but the most agile, speedy fencers (my only point of reference) are all very strong - and that's a sport where you don't even need force on striking.

). Even Oberyn got knocked down a couple of times despite of his agility. Maybe Bronn can in a duel no armor vs no armor. Why people hate Daario. he is pretty bad ass , dark and edgy. (I like his armor too) . He can probably throw that dagger on the slow Mountain's head ezpz. and for Jamie..his duel with Ned Stark was rather sloppy imo. Sad that we won't see the real Jamie fight, unless some miracle will bring back his hand.

Sort of a gentlemans agreement to keep nobility alive during battles (the people with heavy armor was nobility). Later on in when gunpowder was used in war, it is considered wrong to aim at officers xD Oh well just a sidenote. On with the GoT rambling ^^
