![]() Starting the Fall of Hyperion right now. I hope it's as good as the first one was, the Priests tale is still haunting me.

![]() Might be the initial euphoria after the most enjoyable train-ride in ages, but this might be the best thing I've ever read. I'm not sure why it took me so long to stumble upon, it's not like it's particularly obscure...

I couldn't get through it, the quality or at least the draw seemed to diminish greatly. Read The View From Saturday by E.L. Konigsburg. My sixth grade teacher read it out loud to us, but I didn't pay attention, finally got curious enough to see what I missed cause bits and pieces stayed in my head. A lot of it is pretty cool, but I wasn't a particular fan of the main narrative voice (when it's not the kids' POV) and the end was just kooky and out there. Started The Wordy Shipmates by Sarah Vowell, not sure if I'm totally into it but it's new material about an interesting topic (I don't know much about that time) so I'm sticking with it.

I just believe that we Marxists should focus on defending liberal democracies since they are capable of bringing reform, contrary to what councilists believe. Not everything has to be revolutionary. Think of it as the far-left defending the Spanish Republic.

I read A View From Saturday in 6th grade as well, and remember it fondly. There is one part on the origin of the term "tip" as an acronym that stands out as unusually good for children's lit.

Looking forward to read a Dance with Dragons later this year. I got the book in the shelf already, but I want to savour the story a bit first. I liked a Dance With Dragons, it's awesome, but I felt it didn't advance the story by leaps and bounds like the previous books did. If anything, it sets up for a grand book 6, but itself feels a bit stalled.... There's a shitloads of things happening though, but... I don't know, just a feeling. For Pratchett : take 10 guys at random, they will have 10 different favorites since he writes so many types of stories. There's bound to be a few for every taste.
