I like it. It combines the aspects of adult/surreal humor without dumbing it down, but makes it easy to digest without being force-fed or diluting it.

I was going to mention Superjail, but that doesn't fall under the kids show category. + Show Spoiler + ![]()

Also for those that haven't watched the show or don't understand some stuff here it is. Major spoilers about story and characters. + Show Spoiler + They live on essentially Earth (it's hinted at a huge chunk of the planet is missing, like 1/4 of the planet), they call it Ooo (sounds like Moo without the M). It's about a buncha random short stories, usually 2 each episode with recurring characters etc about some about certain themes. There is an over arching story that Finn & Jake follow (2 main characters, Finn is the last human alive) that a couple stories and episodes revolve around and follow. Think of the random episodes as filler if you were watching anime, except the filler has some meaning and helps you understand things. Anyway it takes place way in the future where magic and aliens and random creatures and talking foods inhabit. The bad guy, the Lich, destroyed the world in some kind of World War with we assume were atomic bombs. No humans survived and nothing about the past is left, no history or technology or anything is left. All of this is hinted at and revealed slowly but most kids don't actually realize and understand all this. The best story is actually about the Ice King, goofy bad guy who kidnaps princesses and fails horribly. His mind is corrupted and tainted by the crown he wears (Lich King from WoW or Golum from LotR almost identical) and his life is a super depressing and sad story. He had a wife/gf before the crown and war happened but lost it all and slowly went insane before losing everything he knew about himself (doesn't even know his own name or anything about who he was anymore in the show) and now lives in a ice castle by himself. We were shown letters and some video recordings of him losing his mind and he knew what was happening to himself but he couldn't stop it, so he distanced himself from everyone he loved so he wouldn't snap and hurt them. It's amazing they put something so deep in a show dedicated to kids who won't realize all this till they rewatch when they are older. Did I mention Marceline, a vampire who loves to play bass and sing depressing songs, is a lesbian? edit: forgot about spoiling people completely, quick edit should fix it for those who want to understand why this show is amazing. I could go on forever saying how awesome this show is but you just need to watch and see for yourself. I knew Adventure Time had stuff like that but never that sad .OP is great for sharing Adventure Time with TL. I got hooked on it by the cuteness and humor, its darker and deeper side speaks to me as well. The show is pure genius. My contribution: that's so cool!

What's great is that despite being so random, it has plots that grab your attention and you care about (for all of about 10 mins, but still).

She had a boyfriend named Ash remember? http://adventuretime.wikia.com/wiki/Ash Marceline is described as a wild rocker girl. Not all her songs in the show are emo or depressing. She just dresses punk style sometimes and you mistake that for her being a lesbian emo? No, Marceline is a much better character than that. BAM http://adventuretime.wikia.com/wiki/Marceline Sure, Finn called her a dyke in 1 episode, but in that episode he didn't really know her yet.

Not to mention she acts very weird around Princess Bubblegum going super emotional on both ends of the spectrum. I'll meet you halfway and say she's the first bi kids cartoon character.

I tend to think of marceline as a wild rocker girl, who is a bisexual with a crush on the BP. I mean she blushed when BP told her she wears her T-shirt too bed. Pretty heavy emotion for "just friends".

I'm curious, have you read anything of his? I'd suspect it's rather tedious to read any of his books in English translation, much like reading Shakespeare in German translation: None of the magic, all of the tedium.
