All the changes they made were net positives for sure. Every moment was just great this week, A+. I had crazy nerdchills during the final Brienne+Jaime scene. i enjoyed the fight as well, although i wish they would have made jaime fare a little better, the show kinda made me feel like brienne was far superior to him where as in the book they seem closer to equals
Yeah which played to Jaime being one of the foremost swordsmen in the land. Still, having been chained and starved for long and fighting shackled, I thought it was good enough. He started well but faded as the fight went on which was expected.

Perhaps we can insist on the more happy ending and say that anyone who suggests such IS stoned.

Liked this episode better than the first one, the very unspectacular Barristan reveal was quite a punch right in the fan feelings.
Though I hope they won't oversimplify stuff too much, I so much enjoyed the character development of Jaime, and I also would have loved some sort of resemblance of that brilliant scene in the book with Sansa confessing what a cunt Joffrey is while this jester was singing like a madman. So we just had a glimpse of that tricky old tyrell hag
Oh well, I guess I am just spoiled.

Figured that, glad to know for certain. Fuck that is one sick sonofabitch

Someone I can't help but cry of joy when Jojen And Meera are on screen. Jojen is perfect. Meera, needed to be smaller/lighter with a trident. But will do. Introduction of Jojen was awesome, dream and then real, shared dream... It was spooky and awesome. My girlfriend was like "Is he good?"- worried.
Queen of thorns was the ray of light in Sansa's day... Tough Littlefinger has revealed to be an ally (doesn't mean trustworthy) so it's not so strong.
Jamie has great dialogs.

Jaime is the king of banter. Really well done.

Good episode. The catelyn/Robb sections are painful to watch, but not because they're bad or anything, just because i'm sad I know what's going to happen and there's nothing I can do to stop it Sort of the same feeling I got re-reading A Game of Thrones, knowing everything eddard was doing was leading up to ultimately being executed. the Shae/tyrion segment veered completely away from the book as far as i know, and to the point of silliness. It was kind of funny but it stuck out.
Oh and I'm not sure about showing Theon and what happens to him. In a way I guess it answers some questions that they would of gotten lots of inquiries about otherwise, but imo it would have been a little cooler and more shocking to see him revealed as Reek in season 5 or whenever they're done with SoS (assuming they're merging DwD and Ffc into one storyline, which would make so much more sense).

The Shae from the show is kind of ruining it for me at the moment. She is just too different from the book. In the book I was never really sure if she loves Tyrion or just pretending really well all the way to the end. In the show, she is just the typical "good" character. I don't understand how they explain her caring about Sansa and being annoyed with Tyrion and I'm worried about where this is going. I hope it won't turn into some "Shae is mad because of Tyrion's marriage to Sansa so she betrays him" later on. I certainly hope they will at least keep her death the way it is. With the show these days, you never know what's coming - they could easily make Tywin hang Shae and then have Tyrion carry out revenge with his crossbow - that would be terrible.
I don't mind the show adding new stuff like Joffrey/Margary scenes, but I believe they should at least keep the existing characters as they are in the book.

Yeah but it's tough guaranteeing an actor will stick around if he isn't going to show up for two or more seasons, plus the show as no internal monologues to explain what happened to Theon all that time. Without knowing his thoughts, just having him come back as Reek after two years would be really tough to do well, and Reek really wouldn't make sense to anyone considering Ramsay has never been Reek on the show.

I don't like TV Shae at all either, and I thought the"Shae is mad because of Tyrion's marriage to Sansa so she betrays him" later on theory is what they were setting up when I first saw it. It's funny that she was more mad about Tyrion saying Sansa was beautiful than she was about admitting that he slept with Ros twice. I'm also not a big fan of Shae as Sansa's guardian angel.

Am I the only one confused about seeing Theon so early? I guess he was never written as a practical for TV series character seeing how the Author more or less made him disappear for a whole book (technically 2 if you don't consider that large parts of the 4th book and parts of the 5th are meant to be happening around the same time to different characters). However it feels like they are going to properly ruin a very dramatic effect from the books if they have us periodically tune in to his transformation.
I know they want to keep the actor on payroll so they don't have to change him for reintroduction 1-2 seasons later, but I really hope they leave some of his stay with the Bastard to our imagination... To me, rediscovering a character I long though dead but completely broken was far more meaningful than any number of chapters actually seeing what was done.

I'm guessing that at some point they will just stop showing Theon torture scenes for a while, and when he returns he will be unrecognizable.

That would be infuriating.
I think the most likely option at this point will be her getting mad at Tyrion for marrying Sansa, and then betraying Tyrion. I still don't like that as much, but that seems to be the way the show is heading, with Shae be friends with Sansa, and seeming very attached and loyal to Tyrion.

Jaime and Tyrion have definetly the best dialogues in the book and the series. I would also put Baelish there if he had more dialogues... (however you could argue that he is very witty without the funny side of Jaime and Tyrion dialogues).

i completely agree, if they have tywin kill shae and tyrion then kill tywin because of that i will lose a massive amount of respect for the show

Actually, I think Shae getting jealous of Tyrion would be worse than Tywin hanging Shae. The TV show Shae does seem to really love Tyrion, and he really does seem to love her, so it makes a lot more sense that Tyrion would freak out over her hanging. And while we're at it, it is a whole lot easier to explain than Tyrion freaking out over some whore that was once mentioned in a Season 1 episode and then never again spoken of. Shae getting jealous, however, and that jealousy alone resulting in her betraying Tyrion in such drastic ways just makes her a terribly weak character.
I know, I know, the book version is a million times better either way. Of course I'd rather have that. But we're speaking hypothetical alternatives here.

By what we seen so far, GoT does not like flashbacks or showing thoughts of characters nor can they TV being a different medium. So how do you propose they explain what happened to Theon if they cut him out for a long time and then introduce him as Reek? Golum is a similar character but there they did show in a flashback how he became what he is.
No, only way to explain Reek and stay true to how GoT story is told is to show us how he gets transformed.

I'm fine with them showing Ramsay transforming Theon into Reek, but I don't want them to show him doing other things. It gives me a much creepier feeling reading people talk about how Ramsay imprisoned Lady Hornwood and left her there to die of hunger than actually seeing him doing it.
But I'm not fine with the changes they're making to Shae. In the books she's a manipulative bitch that illustrates perfectly Westeros: She says what Tyrion wants to hear, as long as he pays her. The moment it is no longer lucrative to her, she throws Tyrion to the lions without a second thought. I hope they won't make her into a vengeful heartbroken whore who dared to love.

That scene where the torturer put the knife into Theon's finger...aaarrghhhh ewww. I won't object if that was the last torture scene shown.
