- Thoros seems too much like a friendly uncle than a crazy red priest who brings people back to life. - Queen of Thorns is pretty spot on - Jojen is perfect. Gives off the other-wordly vibes you'd expect from a greenseer - Meera is cool. Not enough lines to really judge yet An interesting episode I thought with all the changes that had to be made. When Jojen was talking about his father and the rebellion I wanted so much for him to speak of Ned and Howland's trip to the Tower of Joy since they skipped that in the first season... I really hope it's brought up at some point. The bit where Catelyn speaks about her relationship with Jon seemed kind of strange and out of place. Karstark telling Robb how he fucked up horribly was good. Wonder when Robb will messily take his head now. Jaime completely destroyed Renly. I don't yet feel sorry for Theon at all, but I look forward to how that develops. The guy is a great actor with the most dynamic character of the series. Tyrion/Shae scene was completely terrible. Shae sucks.

I'm so glad they are doing the Ramsay-twist, or something similar to it anyways. And it looks like they are willing to do something with Jon's warging ability, possibly being instructed by this Orell person. (i guess Varymyr is cut) And Cercei and Jaime and Tyrion added lines were also awesome. Lady Olenna is true to her book-self so great job there too. Cat's too for a change, surprising. Thoros really doesnt look like the Thoros i imagined, but oh well, at least they didnt cut the BWW as i feared in season 2. And they cast Archer too, so no reason to complain. Overall, i'm very happy, gj D&D.

Cat and John's wife scene was out of place and stupid for me. NO more of those please. No Dany was lame, so I guess they'll butcher her schemes for selling the dragons which will be stupid if they really do. The Theon- Ramsay relationship looks so promising I can't wait to see them develop further. The Reed's and Queen of thorns chars look pretty much as how I imagined them. Tyrion scenes were a stupid filler and I'm saying this when he's one of my favourite book characters. The Bolton soldier who's replacing the goat is a stupid change for me, why can't we have Vargo instead??? The hound in the books wouldn't have pointed out in front of the whole brotherhood that that was Arya Stark, I facepalmed so hard during that scene.

Anyway, very good episode. Thoroughly enjoyed it. Joffrey cracks me up every time! They've found the absolute perfect actor for him.

The goat needs his thapphireth and the show needs the goat. And the zebras.

That Joffery's sado-sexual personality traits continue to develop in such "weapon-as-phallus" ways is...............consistent. It also reveals that character trait to Margarey and she is shown to be savvy - though I don't know how the actress was trying to sell that scene: disgusted or aroused or whateves. Was I the only one who thought the scene was foreshadowing Margaery/the Tyrells killing Joffrey? I mean, she's pointed the crossbow right at the mirror with him standing right next to her, talking about whether she is capable of killing things..

There was some foreshadowing also when Lord Karstark said to Robb that he was fucked the moment he married the girl.

Orell was the skinchanger that Jon killed when he first met Ygritte in the books. His spirit went into the eagle and he later attacked and scarred Jon's face. I think they used him instead of Varamyr because it's easier to film an eagle than it is to have 3 wolves, a shadow cat and a giant snow bear big enough to ride. It was a silly change to make Catelyn literally say she felt like Jon's mother. It was acted well enough, but it was pretty long for a scene that provided contradictory information to the books and didn't really further the story at all. So many book scenes have to be cut due to lack of time for them to make up scenes that don't belong. Same with the Joffrey/Cersei scene where he is getting fitted for new clothes. Can't have every character every episode. No Arya, Jaime and Brienne or Theon last episode. No Stannis/Davos, Tywin, Varys, Littlefinger or Dany this episode. Tyrion scenes were a stupid filler and I'm saying this when he's one of my favourite book characters. I have never liked the show portrayal of Shae, and her character just continues to get more out there. She isn't that mad at Tyrion for admitting he slept with Ros twice, but gets pissed that he says Sansa is pretty? I guess they are setting up his marriage to Sansa as the reason Shae will betray him. Shae as Sansa's guardian angel is also something I'm not a fan of. The Bolton soldier who's replacing the goat is a stupid change for me, why can't we have Vargo instead??? I've heard rumors that they feared back lash from the UK for making fun of people with speech impediments. Apparently there was a big deal made out of making fun of speech impediments in the past year: http://www.walesonline.co.uk/news/need-to-read/2012/05/04/making-fun-of-roy-hodgson-s-speech-impediment-is-unacceptable-say-campaigners-91466-30897098/ Plus they would have to explain who he was and why he was working for Bolton. It is a shame to lose the Bloody Mummers though, and it will be interesting to see how they deal with Jaime losing his hand. Hard to believe Bolton would be able to ally with the Lannisters if his bannerman did the deed.

The other changes are either inconsequential or we can easily see how the story can merge back into what's written in the books. I have a feeling we're in for a few more twists in Jaime's storyline.

I thought I remember a similar scene from the books where Cat laments wishing death upon Jon as a child, but I don't ever remember her saying she felt like his mother.
