The one in the books is fucking absolutely badass. ummm... what exactly have they changed from books to series with the hound? He seems like 100% exactly the same, like even most of his dialog is directly from the book. Do you mean just the portrayal? He does seem a bit more "wounded" and disturbed in the show and less of a crazy psychopath who kills the fuck out of people. I kinda don't mind it, as we all know what eventually happens in book 3 and portraying him more sympathetically in the show kind of sets up for it. I think the show fails to capture The Hound's rage. They've already set him up as a sympathetic character. The hints were much more subtle in the book(probably due to portrayal, as you say) and his turning came as a surprise to me even up until Blackwater. It's not until much later when Sandor attempts to quell the rage, TV Sandor is pretty much already there. It seems to me that Bronn has had more screen time than The Hound. Or at the least, given Bronn more time while taking time away from The Hound. People must find Bronn's character more interesting, I guess.
I think it's just with Bronn, there are more opportunities to squeeze in naked whores. The Hound didn't like whoring. So they don't give him as much screen time. Varys likes little boys, so he gets less screentime than Littlefinger. HBO is boobs-biased.

Does Belwas count as a new character?
|
Beric isn't a new character, they introduced him in season 1.
|
That was only a cameo though, they're gonna find a new actor for him it seems (luckily!)

We have to be honest with ourselves. There is going to be extremely significant changes coming up soon in the show compared to the books. There is no way they can continue the show on the path the books went (especially after Storm).

What happened to the land assault? Garlan tyrell riding in with renly's armour was one of the huge breaking points for stannis' army, and I remember he secured 2 gates before the tyrells came.

did we see his brother yet ?

They got Loras riding in with Renly's armor in the show.

Seriously guys? I just finished the last book, and Martin finally managed to kill off every character in this series I liked .... o.0
Kinda takes the tension out of the book if you are not looking forward to the chapters with your favorite chars in them...

If you take everything at face value in the books then I don't know how to help you.
I bet you miss awesome things like Manderly eating Freys.

I bet you miss awesome things like Manderly eating Freys. that's my main criticism of this series is stuff like this.
what the f**k does a bunch of people eating Freys have to do with advancing the plotline? it's just gross and vulgar and doesn't do anything else. two friggin books (aFfC and DwD) and almost nothing plotwise was actually solved. all the time was taken up with a quadrillion irrelevant sex scenes and then little hints like the one you outlined that are like: "oh wow, i caught that... but what now?" his idea of character development and plot-movement a lot of times is pick another major character to kill and then get a few reaction shots and we're good. double points if the character is really not dead.
we're told not to take things at face value, but there actually is not that much under the surface and most of all these next books didn't reveal almost anything new. Jon is still a bastard with no clear identity, Dany is STILL not in the Westoros, Lannister's are still corrupt and being beaten by their own corruption, Bran still hasn't figured practically anything out, the Others are still just sitting for no apparent reason, and we're left with irrelevant scenes full of irrelevant characters with irrelevant dialogue. the series has devolved, in my opinion, quite badly.

Tho i cant find the links atm, martin actually has admitted that he wrote himself into a big big litarary hole with the whole dany storyline. he actually didnt know for the longest time how to resolve things with her.
And on the freys, well, when ye create a world, you need alot of characters. And in ways the freys are very useful for ending up at certain points in thye story.

Forced? It was a marriage pact, brokered by their parents, and both giving consent.
This is true, but what were Robb's other options? To somehow go around the river (don't know if that is even possible) or to be stuck in the North with no way to attack.

I think he means house westerling betraying the Lannisters. Nonetheless I don't believe the song was played to foreshadow anything, it was played because the Lannisters had just crushed their enemies.
Well, the "Westerling" character in the TV series is entirely different from the book since she's from Volantis, right? Or is she actually a Westerling and lying about her identity? If so, that was way over my head.

Awesome! Reeds and Tullys and the Brotherhood are in. I was thinking that maybe this next season would be a bit slow if they split ASoS into two books, but with how many characters they will have to introduce, I'm now not really worried at all.

^They needed someone that robb would have some interaction with so the none bookie viewers can sympathize with robb marrying someone he wasn't suppose to. Otherwise, it would have been i had sex with this one girl, then I married her and don't expect the freys to be even remotely pissed despite the fact they gave me their bridge and men essentially for me marrying one of them.

ramsey isnt on that list btw.

That's probably true. It's almost been a decade since I read the book, but didn't the entire thing happen 'offscreen' anyways? Like Robb relates to his mother after the fact how he got carried away/ needed comfort.
